5.51" x 2.89" translates to a diagonal size of 6.22". Unless the iPhone 12 5.4" has huge bezels, I find those dimensions unlikely. They seem more likely to be for the 6.1" iPhone.

A 5.51 x 2.89 would be a 5.42” screen.

I like the bigger phones myself. but my wife would absolutely go for a 5.4 inch if released - even the current iPhone 8 size is juts a little bigger than she would prefer, so she would be very happy to go back to a smaller size.

If the dummy unit Dan has is accurate, there isn’t that much difference in size of the 5.4” and the new SE. The main difference is the 5.4 being more narrow and mostly screen, which should make it easier to use one-handed.

Immensely. While I use my iPhone heavily, I use it more for productivity than consumption. Messages, Mail, Safari browsing if needed (need to look something up away from home), but other than it's mostly health tracking (Streaks, WaterMinder, Etc.), RSS Reeder and the occasional scroll through Reddit or Twitter. I also use it as an iPod for music and podcasts. None of those things require a larger screen and some even benefit from a more compact device.

I don't really use my to watch media or spend hours at a time browsing. Also, I've never found mail or social media overly troublesome on a smaller screen. Now, I wouldn't want to go back to a 4" screen because my eyes aren't the best, but 4.7" class device was always fine for me and this looks to bring that size class into the modern tech.

I just have to make a call if the zoom lens and/or higher refresh rate adds more to the experience than a smaller size would.

I think that it will be a good phone, it just might not be worth the $500+ over the SE to someone like me who only uses their phone occasionally. There is a place for both, I think.

I like a bigger screen for reading and typing, but there’s a certain size that fits comforting my pockets, and that’s the X. Limits my choices.

iPhone 4s is my EDC. YES a 5.4 iPhone12 form factor is a BUY. BUT not if the S.S. band and glass back are swapped out for the painted trash can look shown in prototypes.

5.4 inch iPhone 12? Does it interest you?
Yes, it does.
If it will be available with 256gb or more, no missing major features and a good main camera it will become my main phone, if not it will become a secondary one.

And I wish they'd offer even smaller device.

Definitely getting the 5.4 inch iPhone. I am the type of person who likes “Pro” stuff. However, with my current technology workflow, I really interface with my iPhone the least. I cannot really justify getting a $1,000+ phone even if I wanted it. More importantly, I have smaller hands, which makes it difficult to use my Xs for long periods. This will be a welcome change.

I really only use my iPhone when I am out and about (which was still little in the “before time”). I have an iMac at work and my iPad Pro (with Magic Keyboard) travels between home and work. If I am not in the car (for CarPlay), my phone tends to just sit on the charger. It seems to be more of a hub for my Apple Watch and Car than anything else. I can make calls, do texts on my Mac and iPad. When I am at home, my iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard is nothing short of amazing.

Therefore, I am hoping a smaller phone would be better for me.

Just to give you clarity the 5.4” means diagonal screen size.

will consider if touch ID returns

will definitely buy if has LCD and touch ID

no touch ID I'll just stick with what I have

i read many of you getting some age now talking about old eyes vs confort, nobody talks about what is important, the aspect ratio of iphone 11 is a no sense, even it crops 16:9 movies in landscape because of this, in order to make text a little bigger, you need to increase size exponentially, as is the wide factor what makes text larger, but smartphones are far taller than wider, no sense as the ratio is not even The standard 16:9

this would be the next big thing in design again, the ratio comes from a hardware handicap in the past, physical problems became virtual problems today, good to have more room for keyboard and several bars with info, but at the end, at the begining was solved with clever layout design, and now means phones showing over the edge of your pocket and two hand to reach the top/bottom

what i really want is not a weird 21:6 phone, is a 16:9 all screen phone, or a 16:10 which would be great at 5.8,text size same as actual 6.1 iphone 11, that would be a great choose

Yes the aspect ratio is key too. The 12 5.4 is going to be a funky ratio. The SE 2020 is actually a nice ratio 16:9.

This is gonna be a weird year - I think this phone will be the single best selling model of the iPhone 12 generation.
