13" MBA I suppose.
I would guess rMBP.
I guess it is down to him now...
Sorry, yes, not sure why I keep typing that. Typo fixed.

Trust me your machine has the UI lag, im yet to see one that doesn't.
You most certainly did not get a 2015 13" rMBA because they don't exist.
1. I'll bet the test unit was running 10.10.2 which is pretty laggy on this
2. Ok...
3. Plenty of us here have already been doing much more than Netflix and note taking with our MacBooks LOL!!
4. You are clueless and/or trolling. Even 5 year old Apple laptops don't drop to 50% of their retail price![]()
Beg to differ. The first macbook air was $1700 or $1800 when it first came out in 2008, and three years later people couldn't hardly give them away on CL after the 2011's arrived.
You are correct, but IIRC the 2009 and 2010 versions also suffered on the resale market after the 2011 was introduced.
Opening apps
Yup. Pardon me for not being through enough.
IIRC. Never head that one before, certainly going to use it now.
I see the nMB as being a less extreme example of the 08 MBA, which placed a super premium on form factor over performance. Granted, most of us will probably move to the macbook's grandson or great grandson, but the '15 will still be usable even then, if only as a outright netbook. And I doubt the performance gains will be as great as was the Air from 2008 to 2011.
At least the nMB doesn't have a spinning 4200 rpm hard drive from an original iPod....
Has anyone tried Final Cut X?
i read iMovie slows it down a bit on previous posts. I asked Apple and they said it SHOULD work.
I felt they gave me a neutral answer.
Did not mean to be snippy or nitpicking at all!. Sorry if it read that way. The point I was edging toward, without say so, is that early adopter risk is limited to Gen 1.

it was impossible to handle my multi-tasking workload (E-mail, 6-7 safari tabs, messages, twitter, notes) while maintaining the high performance I would get in the first few minutes of using the MB.
but I now know I can't handle the drop in performance.
Just going on what you described, your workload seems to be on the lighter side, so while your experience might be different, most people have been saying that it can handle the types of tasks you mentioned. Multi taking in it of itself does not equate to demanding performance.
True...And it performed great for the first 10 minutes of use or so. However, there was noticeable system lag after that until I closed all but one or two of the things I had open.
Isn't that an issue with only 8gb of ram, not necessarily the processor? Same thing happens to me on a MBP with only 8, vs. 32 on my iMac. It's like I have to close out everything once in a while.
I disagree. These are two notebooks. Very comparable. One has better specs. One has worse specs. Yet, they're basically the same price.
Simple.
It seems so many people need to "justify" their purchase to other people.
I have owned the rMB, the rMBP, and the air. All 2015 models. The best of them all? The Air. It is the only one without UI lag b.c it does not have to drive the retina display. That may not be the most important thing to everyone, but it is a fact.
The rMBP would be second in terms of UI lag, and I would even say performance b.c the lag effects apps too.
At times the rMB runs smooth and looks great. Then there are other times where it is a laggy mess. I made this video last night. It is not an anomaly. I experienced it on two MacBooks I owned, and I can create the issue in store. Only 4 spaces and a few tabs

I used the MB for the last couple of weeks. In the end it wasn't for me. Speeds seemed fine initially, but I found that after extended taxing use the system graphics presentations slowed considerably. Granted, I was coming from a 2014 13" rMBP, it was impossible to handle my multi-tasking workload (E-mail, 6-7 safari tabs, messages, twitter, notes) while maintaining the high performance I would get in the first few minutes of using the MB.
I also burned through the battery and regularly got 4-5hrs where my rMBP gave me 7-9. I would have loved the smaller form factor, but I now know I can't handle the drop in performance.
My Cousin is a fierce early adopter and serious Apple enthusiast. Rarely unhappy with anything Apple, he came to the same conclusion. This is a very nice machine as long as you don't need speed and lots of resources. No surprise, yet he tried to make it work and for his needs it doesn't.
