You may want to get checked out.
if i was anal retentive i'd give myself an enema and drop a huge upper decker load in your bathroomThe posters on here do not suffer from the disorder. This is a very abused term it has become the catch phrase. More than likely the people here are just being anal retentive. Most are just the product of society, a bunch of whiners.
Okay, so here is my story about the rattling noise. I have been told the same thing by numerous Apple employees, both Genius Bar and Apple care, that the noise is either caused by the loose home or volume buttons or camera lens, like stated by Statheesh. However, my whole problem that if any other electronic device that you own had a similar rattling noise, would you not try to have it remedied? That is exactly what I did.
I started out by buying my iPhone 5s on the first day it was released, being the loyal iPhone customer. However, about a month later I get a message from Apple that I need to turn my phone in for a recall. Note that I did not want to turn my phone in, but I was told that if I did not by a certain date (about a month, I believe) that my warranty would be terminated. Now, understand this, when I took my phone in, I did not get it replaced with a new iPhone, I got a "service" phone, which is Apple's way of saying "refurbished." So, I was stuck with a REFURBISHED phone a month after I had paid for a BRAND NEW phone.
Now, about six months later the rattling noise occurs. I checked my friend's iPhone 5, and his did NOT rattle at all, and he has had it for over year and a half. That caused me to take my iPhone 5s into the Genius Bar. Three replacements later, and the current refurbished iPhone that I have is the worst one yet. It rattled straight from the get go.
That caused me to call Apple Care. Four phone calls and a week later, and they tell me that because I the noise is not detrimental to the operation of the phone, that I CANNOT get a new iPhone 5s, in the shrink-wrapped white box with a new charger and headphones, which is what I wanted when the recalled my phone in the first place. So, Apple does NOT WANT to give me a new phone, even though they say the "can't." I have been a loyal iPhone customer since the 3GS, and this will be my last iPhone. I had to get my old iPhone 5 replaced because of the horrible home button issue, and now I am on my 4th iPhone 5s. The quality has really dropped off since the death of Steve Jobs, and my next phone will probably be the Samsung Galaxy 5s. Believe me, I do not want to leave the iPhone line, since everything I have is geared towards them, such as iTunes, all my purchases. But my frustration is to the end of the limit.
If you read all this, I thank you, and this is my first time ever posting on the internet. However, this has to stop. If this can sway one person away from Apple products, I will be satisfied. APPLE IS HORRIBLE!!! I know I will probably get tons of replies to quit my bellyaching, and that is fine. However, I believe that when you pay $400 for a cell phone you should get your money's worth, and I feel I have not. Again, thank you for your time.
So, I fully expect a bunch of comments about me whining, but is it too much to ask for what I pay for?

Three comments:
1. I'm not sure I've seen a 5s or 5 power button that doesn't rattle a bit when shaken. They used to be nice and tight on most 4's and 4s's, but not anymore. It bothered me when I first noticed it on mine, but then I went to an Apple Store and all of the display models rattled. Your friend's 1.5-yr-old one probably doesn't due to grime/junk that naturally works its way into crevices like that.
2. You almost certainly didn't get a refurb "service" 5s only a month after release. They send Apple Stores tons of new ones packaged without the headphones and power cord stuff for swaps like that. Just last month I had a pixel die on mine and got it swapped out for a brand new "service" 5s. No way they refurbished phones in that short time period with all of the 5s shortages after release.
3. You swapped your almost certainly new 5s several times for a "problem" that all 5s's seem to have, and they were pretty generous to let you do it. You're just going to have to get used to it or buy a case that covers the buttons and therefore stops the little rattle when the phone is shaken.
Are loose buttons ever acceptable?
Months later and many more experience with various iphone models and I STILL have yet to encounter a iphone rattle as people suggest.
