To people who say "I want a device with exactly these features", then you're out of luck. I don't foresee Apple coming out with 20 different variations of hand-held devices, making a complete spectrum of hardware options between iPod Touch and iPhone. You can complain that Apple doesn't make the exact device you want, but if you want a hand-held iOS device with a nice camera, you can get one: iPhone without service contract.

This is what everyone's been saying this whole thread but I don't think the OP and GekiRed are even talking about iPods or iPhones anymore. This has turned into them hating on Apple/Steve because they didn't get iPhone equivalent features on the iPod. Keep going at it guys ...

FYI, I don't have a PS3 or XBox360 but I do have a couple of very nice PSP-1000'S that I like to carry in both my pockets at all times and use whenever I want as well as a really nice DS Lite, if that's what you mean?[/sarcasm]

matrix07; I don't think I've seen anything of yours that's worth replying to either!:D

burgundyyears; I may bite, but at least I don't sparkle unlike the vampires in a certain series of books by a certain Mormon author who shall remain nameless!:D

In any case, here's a hypothetical question for all the Apple Sheeple out there who would blindly follow Fuhrer Jobs through Hades and High Water: If Fuhrer Jobs told you to sacrifice your first-born or drink poison so that your family could have a lifetime supply of Apple products, would you do it?

Don't answer all at once now...

(And before anyone asks, I'm just mocking the Sheeple out there who think that Steve Jobs is right in what he says all the time and that anbody who disagrees with him is a unbeliever! Well, I guess I'm an unbeliever and proud of it! Hey, that would make a nice T-Shirt for sale on CafePress! "Proud to be a member of the Church of the Anti-Jobs!")

Again, looks like you've joined up simply to draw people out for a fight, and nothing more than just a fight.

Your the one that says everyone is entitled to an opinion but people shouldn't be douches by forcing it upon others. However, you keep forcing it upon the people on this thread and this forum that they are nothing more than sheep that follow Steve Jobs, which is nothing but hypocritical.

I think you've made your point in how bitter you are against Steve Jobs, but intentionally grouping people together as sheep and saying they follow an unfatherly figure that resembles Hitler, simply because all they do is disagree with you and the OP's opinions? Gimme a break. So I'm just part of the flock who blindly follows a man, because I purchase Apple products because i LIKE them? Go vent your heat elsewhere

And please, when you start calling people sheep when in fact you yourself intend to purchase an iDevice and deposit even more money into Apple's account is laughingly hypocritical of everything you say. :D

I disagree with you and the OP. Is this ok with you? Now go ahead, retort once more by regurgitating insults and labels. It's the only thing you seem great at doing so far in this thread.

Again, to reiterate my point: iPod Touch = $229. iPhone = $599. MORE COST = MORE/HIGHER QUALITY FEATURES.

Edit: Oh and according to your sig, the first thing I would probably do once you get your future iPod Touch and 2nd gen iPad, is go to your Church of Anti-jobs and go straight to the confession booth. You're going to need it! ;)

Where can I even begin? *shakes head and sighs*

You don't know me, I don't know you...

Why are you accusing me of joining this board just to be a troll when as I've already said in this thread that I mainly joined to ask for advice on a as-needed basis on my future iPod Touch purchase...

If you had even bothered to check my profile, you'll have found out that I've contributed to various other threads including one on where's the best place to get an iPod Touch 4th Gen, for example.

Admit it, people like you can't stand the fact that people like me and yustas aren't willing to follow the herd like the other Sheeple (if you'll pardon the pun!) who believe any old crap that Fuhrer Jobs says.

Yes, I've made my point clear that I hate Steve Jobs and I know that there are sad, pitiful people out there who won't hear anything bad against him.

There's nothing wrong with Apple products from a design point of view, but when it comes to the fact that there are people who don't seem to have a problem paying full price for a product which hardly has anything new to offer unlike last year when there was a clear difference between the entry-level iPod Touch and the top-of-the-range version, it concerns me greatly and that's why I'm not willing to pay full price for the top-of-the-range version (and definitely not a UK version because I'm definitely not willing to pay the Fuhrer Jobs UK Premium Tax!) and am importing it from the US instead.

As I've said before in this thread, everyone is entitled to their opinion... You're entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to my opinion and so is yustas, but that doesn't give the real trolls in here the right to insult me, yustas and anybody else in this thread just because we're telling it like it is; and that is we're brutally honest.

As for being a Apple Sheeple just because I'm buying a iPod Touch... I resent that as I'm definitely NOT a Sheeple for buying one... I'm buying one so I can use the Apps that are suitable for my IT Course as well as for language study (I'm currently studying Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Cantonese and Korean in case you're wondering, and there's some pretty good Apps available to study those languages; both free and paid). If I'm a hypocrite, then I have a bridge to sell you in London called Tower Bridge! :D

I guess you didn't take a good look at my signature; in case you didn't, the top line clearly states the following: "Is definitely NOT a worshipper of the Church of Jobs!" which shows you and any other Sheeple what kind of person I am when it comes to the man.

BTW, please kindly stop using capital letters to make a point as I'm not that stupid that you pay more for a premium product (after all I did take Business Studies classes at school)

I have no problem with people liking Apple products, it's just the ones that have such a blind obsession with the damn things that I have a problem with.

At the end of the day, if you don't like my opinion or yustas' opinion, I have no problem with that, but when you're taking it personally and attacking my integrity, THEN I definitely have a problem with that!

One last thing, kindly stop making yourself look like a troll yourself as you're only making yourself look silly at the end of the day with your continual ranting and raving about me and yustas. In other words, let's just agree to disagree otherwise this will go on and on for anything up to 100+ pages and I don't want that to happen... (And besides, I have better things to do with my time... Like take over the world! Bwa-ha-ha-ha!)

At the end of the day, ask yourself this: If the new iPod Touch is supposedly perfect, how come there's already been a lot of complaints about the thing such as light leakage, system crashes, etc on this very forum?

ShStylo; for the most part, all I said was that I didn't think that the new iPod wasn't worth the money at full price; especially for the top of the range version... If anybody wants to pay top price; I have no problem with that, but I'm not going to pay full price for a product (It's the same for anything I buy where possible, I always try to buy an item as cheap as possible, whether it be the latest videogames or books for university)

(I'd like to apologise to yustas if this thread has been hijacked because certain people are having problems accepting that the new iPod Touch isn't perfect and they don't want to admit that he's right)

I've a feeling if there were a "Church of the Anti-Jobs", there'd be quite a few people lining up to join, including plenty of owners of various Apple products!:D

Where can I even begin? *shakes head and sighs*

You don't know me, I don't know you...

Quite right, yet you call me sheeple. What in your head keeps insisting that I am promoting Apple and blindlessly calling them perfect? Hyprocite much?

Why are you accusing me of joining this board just to be a troll when as I've already said in this thread that I mainly joined to ask for advice on a as-needed basis on my future iPod Touch purchase...

Because your first few posts have been nothing but targeting people, blatantly labeling them. That is no way to hold an argument, if you've ever taken any debate class on top of your business classes.

Because people disagree with you does not give you any right to call people blind followers.

If you had even bothered to check my profile, you'll have found out that I've contributed to various other threads including one on where's the best place to get an iPod Touch 4th Gen, for example.

I have checked your profile. That's a great 23 post contribution to this site. Pretty much half of those has been spent here arguing, no?

Admit it, people like you can't stand the fact that people like me and yustas aren't willing to follow the herd like the other Sheeple (if you'll pardon the pun!) who believe any old crap that Fuhrer Jobs says.

What was it you said at the beginning.....?:

You don't know me, I don't know you...

Yea, so what makes you think I'm part of this herd? This is what I'm still wondering about. All I ever said was I disagree and posted my points.

Yes, I've made my point clear that I hate Steve Jobs and I know that there are sad, pitiful people out there who won't hear anything bad against him.

There are those people, but for people who simply disagree on this thread, why do you have this need to group them in your colorful categories?

There's nothing wrong with Apple products from a design point of view, but when it comes to the fact that there are people who don't seem to have a problem paying full price for a product which hardly has anything new to offer unlike last year when there was a clear difference between the entry-level iPod Touch and the top-of-the-range version, it concerns me greatly and that's why I'm not willing to pay full price for the top-of-the-range version (and definitely not a UK version because I'm definitely not willing to pay the Fuhrer Jobs UK Premium Tax!) and am importing it from the US instead.

If it greatly concerns you, then you have a problem with people's opinions and you need to get over it. People will consider the camera and retina display a good enough upgrade from last year and so they'll buy it. The ability to do face time across all iDevices is part of Apple's path so I consider this a worthy upgrade.

Nothing you say, complain, or whine will change that or other people's desires for wanting these upgrades.

I am most definitely entitled to my opinion and have said it multiple times. I am brutally honest as well. What is the difference then?

As for being a Apple Sheeple just because I'm buying a iPod Touch... I resent that as I'm definitely NOT a Sheeple for buying one... I'm buying one so I can use the Apps that are suitable for my IT Course as well as for language study (I'm currently studying Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Cantonese and Korean in case you're wondering, and there's some pretty good Apps available to study those languages; both free and paid). If I'm a hypocrite, then I have a bridge to sell you in London called Tower Bridge! :D

Hey, all the money goes to one place anyway, man. Now you're simply sugar coating it. Funny that, you complain so much about Apple and SJ, however it was because of a product from Apple, you'll be able to better continue your IT studies. Hm.

And we don't need a history lesson as to the origins of the now, prosperous App market.

I guess you didn't take a good look at my signature; in case you didn't, the top line clearly states the following: "Is definitely NOT a worshipper of the Church of Jobs!" which shows you and any other Sheeple what kind of person I am when it comes to the man.

How did you come to the conclusion that some of us have a blind obsession? Oh right, we disagreed.

At the end of the day, if you don't like my opinion or yustas' opinion, I have no problem with that, but when you're taking it personally and attacking my integrity, THEN I definitely have a problem with that![/b]

Your first post in this thread was nothing but attacking other people's integrities by calling them sheep, brats, followers of hitler, etc etc etc. You called out for a fight, and this is what you get. Don't be surprised.

One last thing, kindly stop making yourself look like a troll yourself as you're only making yourself look silly at the end of the day with your continual ranting and raving about me and yustas. But you keep responding too, except only with attacks....So.....continual ranting + 1

At the end of the day, ask yourself this: If the new iPod Touch is supposedly perfect, how come there's already been a lot of complaints about the thing such as light leakage, system crashes, etc on this very forum?

I never said it was perfect. You have a big problem of assuming and judging people unfairly.

(I'd like to apologise to yustas if this thread has been hijacked because certain people are having problems accepting that the new iPod Touch isn't perfect and they don't want to admit that he's right)

You have only yourself to blame, as we were talking about the iPod Touch, and then you came in, and talked about:

1. Fanboys/Trolls
2. Hitler
3. Steve Jobs as a father
4. The Church of anti-jobs
5. Sheep
6. Your ability to bite back

Please tell me how any of this remotely relates to the new iPod Touch?

nonsense about Sheeple

Nobody in the thread fits your definition of 'Sheeple'.

when it comes to the fact that there are people who don't seem to have a problem paying full price for a product which hardly has anything new to offer unlike last year when there was a clear difference between the entry-level iPod Touch and the top-of-the-range version, it concerns me greatly

(1) a product which hardly has anything new to offer? you can't be serious
(2) some people who don't own an iPod Touch have no problem buying one, since it fits their wants and means. This concerns you greatly, my goodness!

As I've said before in this thread, everyone is entitled to their opinion... we're telling it like it is; and that is we're brutally honest.

Holy loly
'The iPod sucks, people who happily buy one are dumb'.
'Uh, that doesn't make sense for several reasons...'
'Hey man, that's just your opinion, but me, Mr. Brutally Honest, is just tellin' it like it is, deal with it'

As for being a Apple Sheeple just because I'm buying a iPod Touch... I resent that as I'm definitely NOT a Sheeple for buying one... I'm buying one so I can use the Apps that are suitable for my IT Course as well as for language study

your reasons for buying one are good, other people's reasons for buying one make them sheep? there's that 'integrity' of yours, I guess

At the end of the day, ask yourself this: If the new iPod Touch is supposedly perfect

No one said this.

certain people are having problems accepting that the new iPod Touch isn't perfect and they don't want to admit that he's right

Nobody said the iPod Touch is perfect. If you think that the thread has been a debate over whether the iPod is perfect or not then you are wrong.

Looking at your post it's easy to understand why the success of Apple baffles many techies. Apple doesn't give you the freedom in the OS (not a biggie since they can be jailbroken, so far anyway) nor do they offer superior hardware spec. AND Apple products demand price premium yet people buy them in droves. It's hurtful. It's degrading as a techie seeing all these people buying up overpriced Apple crap instead of that cool Linux portable with a super CPU, a half-working wifi and non-existence support.

But really, it's clear why. Apple create polished products that does the job in a pleasing visual manner in a reliable fashion that are good enough to back up often exaggerated claims made by Jobs. For instance it's obvious Steve Jobs is just BSing a marketing term when he coined the iPhone/iPod's screen as "Retina Display" and described it a new amazing technology since there had been a number of other mobile devices that hit the magical 300DPI mark. However none of the phones came even close matching the iPhone/iPod's usage of those pixels. They couldn't do resizing&resampling like the iOS devices can and couldn't handle fonts in an elegant way to fully utilize the available resolution. So yes, the "Retina" term is BS, but Apple's devices with the Retina display indeed is really really really good and outdoes pretty much every similar product with such pixel density. Apple not only can BS, but they back it up with a sublimely refined combination of hardware and software.

I'm actually amazed you own the Nintendo DSL. When you think about it, there's product that had vastly inferior hardware and arguably overpriced for what it is. If you use the same argument of "sheeple buying overpriced inferior products," Nintendo DS, DSL, DSi, DS XXXXX all should've failed, badly. Yet even a picky person like you were willing to shell out money for a DS, why?

When it comes to games consoles, I'm not a graphics whore unlike some so-called gamers, I'm more a gameplay kinda guy when it comes to games... For example, I'm just as happy playing Phantasy Star Zero on the DS as I am playing Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker on the PSP... And when I get my PS3 and XBox 360 next year, I'll be just as happy playing games like Star Ocean 4, Ninety Nine Nights II, MGS 4 and Bayonetta on them.

To me, a good game isn't about flashy graphics, it's all about gameplay and what it has to offer... I've played quite a few games in my time which quite a few people and videogame magazines would refer to as "crap" and yet there's something about them that I enjoy.

I prefer to think of myself as a hardcore gamer who's particularly fond of Japanese games (And no, I'm not a weeaboo, in case anybody's ever heard of the term!) and the odd casual game, but I loathe FPS games because the last time I even tried to play one, I ended up having a really bad epileptic seizure which almost killed me, that plus I loathe shovelware crap with a passion.

There you go. You just described exactly why Apple products succeed. ;) And Apple offers pretty graphics on top of gameplay, so to speak.

After reading all pages of this thread I must say I found it very entertaining.
And there were some LOL moments. eg Godwin's Law, and a bridge for sale.

I can see the OP's point that the Touch does not compare as favorably to the iphone as past generations.
So we can only expect this divergence to continue in future models.
So that's the direction Apple is taking with the Touch.
That's fine by me.

This is my first apple product. I did not want to spend the money on an iphone without the contract because I don't need the better quality features of the iphone. I don't need a phone, nor a better camera, nor a GPS, nor a slightly better screen. It would have been nice to have the same specs but I realize that these things come at a cost.

I live in England so we don't have such a thing as debating classes in high schools (and besides, isn't that a American thing?)

I've said time and time again that at the end of the day, let's just agree to disagree because everyone has opinions and yet you seem to want to continue this argument when I don't want to continue it...

I don't have myself to blame for this thread being suddenly changed into an pro/anti Apple argument, it's you who is to blame because of your agressiveness towards myself and yustas.

As for the money for my future iPod purchase, it definitely won't be going to Apple directly, that's for sure! LOL

I didn't group anybody who disagrees with me as "Sheeple" and I definitely don't have a problem with other people's opinions...

One last thing:
BTW, here's a free piece of advice for you: How about spending less time being agressive towards people on this forum and more time being friendly or as you Americans say; "Have a Nice Day!" :D

How about this: You start acting like a decent person towards me, yustas and other people on this board and I'll stop supposedly calling you and other people "Sheeple". Do we have a deal?

There you go. You just described exactly why Apple products succeed. ;) And Apple offers pretty graphics on top of gameplay, so to speak.

You hit the nail right on the head there, although the App Store has its fair share of crap Apps and Games, sad to say.

Also, your previous post was quite a interesting read if I do say so myself and also had its own share of valid points, especially the part about Steve Jobs marketing BS concerning the Retina Display.

BTW, I also want to thank you for not flaming me in your posts... I guess I can be a bit too passionate about my views which some people would probably interpret as trolling, and as a result would get a bit too defensive whereas some of the people here in this thread including yourself as well as the likes of dave1812dave are willing to listen to both sides of the argument without getting a red mist over their eyes...

(And no, I'm not being a hypocrite by saying this... I'm just trying to say that I don't like people on boards who have to be aggressive towards people who try to give their opinion on a particular subject and it ends up turning into a flame war.... I could have swore this site was one dedicated to all things Apple and not a spin-off site of 4-Chan! LOL)

So when people call you on your nonsense you say 'let's just agree to disagree'. When they take you to task for calling them, by name, 'spoilt, petulant little brats' (among other things) you fault them for 'continuing the argument when you don't want to continue it'. And you smeared everyone until they asked you to defend it and you go 'well, I'm not talking about any of you, of course. Also, it's your fault for being so aggressive.' And finally you didn't address anybody's substantive points. And you tell people not to question your integrity. Utter trash.

(by the way, GekiRed's dig about spoilt brats was at people who he said 'can't even be bothered to give decent reasons why they disagree with yustas' which is a total lie, the thread is full of those reasons)

After reading all pages of this thread I must say I found it very entertaining.

It's good to see someone else here agree with the OP (yustas) about the Touch not comparing as favorably as previous models.

I may not be a businessman or an expert in the world of business (although I can build you a decent computer for a reasonable cost!), but I thought that if a product like the iPod Touch series gets an update each year, you'd get a product that's worth value for money.

I fear that Steve Jobs is getting too complacent and arrogant as far as the iPod Touch series is concerned and what's the odds that we could be seeing a repeat of the situation that happened in the 90's where he got booted out of the company, except this time, he wouldn't be coming back!

Riiiight. Now you're targeting me as an American. Do your limits of off-topic, selective, and discriminative biases know no bounds? Also, you continue to say, "one last thing". Are you sure you're not a member of the house of Jobs? Anyway, I fail to see the connection of why my American nationality = faulty iPod Touch. Please elaborate.

Oh, and now I'm aggressive? Boy, more assumptions. Quality. Remember, you're the one prepared who was all prepared to "bite back", Don't recall?

I would be interested in you directing me to my exact hostility and agressiveness to Yustas in this thread. I once briefly joked about 9 pages of trolling at one point, as I personally found it humerous this thread got so far, but everything I've stated were serious points on the issue.

However, you seemed spent on creating an entire research paper on your personal crusade against loyal Apple customers and why they like their products? Yikes.

I've only continued this argument due to your harsh nature and brash remarks towards people "you do not know", according to your quote.

You obviously had a problem with my opinion, as well as others on this thread, as we've all somehow earned your branding for merely objecting to your seemingly, anger driven, and instigating posts.

Again, I would first appreciate you pointing me to posts where I've acted out of line towards you or the OP, and I'll be glad to rebuke these with posts of yours that happened before hand.

If I addressed everybody's substantive points, it would probably take a book that's bigger than the Koran, the Torah and the Bible combined and then some! *grin*

I never said to address everybody's points, I said you failed to address anybody's substantive points, using your time to write all kinds of blather instead about Jobs-worship garbage.

Obviously somebody doesn't know the meaning of the word "sarcasm"! :D (in reference to my last post.

I never knew what I was writing about Steve Jobs was garbage? Maybe I should start a career as a tabloid journalist! LOL

(If you still don't know, Google up the word "sarcasm"!)[/sarcasm]

FYI, I have American friends, one of my uncles lives and works in Illinois as a scientist and his daughter is half-American as a result AND works in NY for Goldman Sachs (so she's doing pretty well for herself! That, plus she's a pretty decent person) and I definitely don't discriminate against trolls of any country.

Why are you thinking that I'm supposedly taking offence at you for being American? Then again, you could have been Canadian or Japanese or Singaporean for all I know! [Apologies to any Canadian/Singaporean/Japanese board members here!]

On another note, you're taking this supposed slight to you a way bit too seriously...

Lighten up, take a chill pill, relax and stop being a misery guts! (Besides, I already have enough hassle to deal with in the form of my SOB of a upstairs neighbor!)

If I've supposedly had a problem with everybody else in this thread, how come I've posted reasonable replies to the likes of dave1812dave, fertilized-egg and zenitramm?

As for the research paper reference, believe me when I say that I'll be studying so hard that I'll probably be sleeping for 8 hours or more a day! LOL

I'll definitely be getting back to you concerning posts involving yourself later today as I need my sleep...

I was excited about the new Touch as well...until I discovered that it doesn't have an IPS panel, only 256Mb RAM, and a low-res rear camera. It's still a nice upgrade over the previous generation, but it is not that tempting to me.
