OMG!!!! What difference does it make? Good God! People need to stop trying to impress other people who don't really give a damn anyway!!!

Wow there have been plenty of worthless threads since Monday but this one... wow. Just... wow.

Ah well, bumping it back to the top for some unknown reason.

And why do you have your phone out during a meeting anyway?

I meant corporate environments as well.

Paper is white, and all businesses use paper. I just think its stupid.

But phones professionals use are black, and in some cases, silver. A white iPhone stands out. Standing out in style is the opposite of professional (again, assuming we're not talking about advertising or marketing).

People not in the "professional" world should not be able to answer this question. Without a doubt black looks more professional. Any color makes you look like a little kid. I would think something was weird if I met with a client that pulled out a white iphone or something with some crazy multicolored case.

Agreed. You'd get straight laughed at (or at least judged) if you pulled out a white phone in front of a client/boss. I honestly can't believe that this is a question where people think white is a valid answer.

It's just people who are still in school or don't work in the business world that are stating that it doesn't matter. There saying that what color your phone has shouldn't matter and you should make a decision yourself. Ok then, I'd like to see you put on a unmatching suit and go to work and use the same claim. Appearance does matter A LOT in the professional world whether you want to believe it or not.

I wouldn't say one looks more professional than the other. But if I were to choose, I'd say white. Not because I have it, but because everyone has a black phone. White stands out more and is more of an Apple color.

That's exactly why the answer to this thread's question is black.

The fact that the split is 50/50 is laughable. It is black, undoubtedly. How can anyone who has ever worked in the corporate world in an office where you have to dress and act in a professional, formal manner ever think the answer is anything but black? My guess is that they don't, and that's not who is giving the white option its vote total.

White is more professional because it stands out more? In the fashion industry, I would agree. In the business world, I highly disagree. Standing out is bad.

As of today in the Air Force we can talk on our cell phones while walking in uniform IF they are BLACK... so the AF thinks so.

Haha, I can just picture someone in a military uniform walking around on a colorful iPhone. I wouldn't be too intimidated by that country.

Well I meant more cause it's a high quality phone, you have an iPhone, you mean business. Whatever.

I agree. I think there should be a rainbow iPhone. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :D

i work in a family business. im 24. black is more professional in the normal work place environment, but if someone wont do business with u based on ur phone then i wouldnt want to do business with that person. im gonna get a white 32 3gs. i currently have the orig. im the kind of person that likes to stand out.

I'm a professional, but I'm sure glad I don't work in a profession as stuffy as this. It's just a frickin phone. Sheesh.

Now if you get a call during your meeting, and "Boom Boom Pow" starts playing as your ringtone, well then I'd expect this reaction from your client/boss.

My advice - don't worry about the color, put a proper case on your phone to give it a better grip and protect it from scratches/drops. You'll thank me later.

I knew about this yet I literally just canceled my order on a black 16GB iPhone GS and ordered a 32GB white one. Ah well, that's what cases are for although the regulation doesn't specify a color. It just says "conservative".

haha! Conservative may vary Rank to Rank. Good luck!;)

I love all the responses from the oh so important corporate business people here. I am going into the business world very soon and cant wait to deal with you stuck-up people. I have talked to people who make million dollar a year salaries but own a red blackberry pearl, or a silver crappy flip phone. As a matter of fact, I personally know people who make over 250,000 a year as CEO's of companies, and they do not have black phones. But what do I know.

I have learned nothing in my business classes at college about cell phone color. Thank god. If people are that judgmental that they are shallow enough to base your worth on cell phone color, than so be it. I would love to get fired due to having a white phone, I could sue for millions. I guarantee it.

You really don't think there's any dissonance with dressing in a sharp suit every day, going to meetings, seeing everyone with their blackberries for business, and then pulling out an all-white phone?

Now if you get a call during your meeting, and "Boom Boom Pow" starts playing as your ringtone, well then I'd expect this reaction from your client/boss.

That would be awful. :)
