Not exactly. In its current state and the current state of wireless, the X works great, and will continue to work great for years. The spectrum you speak of is barely utilized.

Within a year or two, there will be a significant amount of area on T-Mobile's network that will have expanded coverage due to B71. 4x4 MIMO will help everywhere, due to antenna diversity, and even more in areas that have 4x4 MIMO deployed. The X is fine this year, but a year or two down the road, it will be very long in the tooth on T-Mobile, and it's not even cutting edge on AT&T or Verizon. If I had to buy a new phone today, I'd be OK with the 8 Plus or X on AT&T, but if I was on T-Mobile, I would definitely be looking for either a cheap Android phone I could replace in a year or two like the Moto X4 Amazon Edition, or something that already has B71, i.e. the S7 Active or V30.

I have no use for split screen multitasking on a phone, I'll use my iPad Pro for that.

That's fine, not inferring anything. But you said multitasking on the iphone, which confused me because you can't multitask on an iphone.

Does it need more RAM today? No.

In 12-24 months? Probably. The same is true for 4x4 MIMO.

Another vid re:RAM management.

Loading Apps faster on the X, but re-loading resulted in many needing to re-start...

Although, many of these apps (games) aren't ones I use, so it shouldn't impact how I use the phone so much...

I don’t understand why there’s such a big misunderstanding.

The issue is iOS11. The iPhone doesn’t need more RAM and the A11 is a beast. It’s hampered by the OS.

iPhone 6S 2GB beats the Galaxy S8 4GB

The 6S is 2 years older.

I don't think it's an issue with iOS11. I've seen people mentioning that the A11 chip could be the potential culprit. It seems that the newer iPhones are more aggressive in removing apps from the memory. This is the best comparison I've seen thus far:

iPhone 8+ vs iPhone 7+. Both on iOS11. Spoilers: The iPhone 7+ destroys the 8+. The results for the X seems to be about the same as the 8+. Apple needs to improve this in future updates. I think they are overly aggressive in reserving RAM for the A11 chip (maybe for machine learning or whatever). It's ridiculouss

Yep. I can absolutely say that my iPhone X is dumping apps out of memory noticeably more often than my 7 Plus did.

Thus far I’ve not encountered any performance issues. Quite the opposite truth be told. It’s something of a beast.

Basically performance is about the same as the 8/+. Mine benchmarks higher than the 8 series but in daily use I don’t detect any real difference. Everything happens ridiculously quick.

I don’t know. Maybe I am not seeing it? The last fantasty football app goes to reload, but is that a big deal to people? I just took a video but the file is too large to upload? I did see a reload on the last app.

It's very frustrating when it "reloads" back to an initial state, not where you left off. For example, leaving YouTube for even a few seconds means it will have to rebuffer everything (RIP data) at best, or it loads the app from scratch meaning I have to find that video again and then try to figure out where I was within it.

This is true of web page reloads as well since it's often not where you left off now that many web pages navigate all kinds of content on a single 'page' through some kind of web app(s).

That's why I kept ProTube v2.1. Lets me listen in the background and download locally to my phone.

I wanted to get ProTube but when I was finally going to get it, Apple removed it.

Just wonderful.
