When will Trump learn to shut-up on topics that he knows nothing of. Just because his buddy Barr can't get something done he whines to Trump and Trump challenges Apple when he really knows nothing of the matter. I stand with Apple on this. Compromising iOS security just isn't worth it just for the mere possibility of finding more information that would more than likely do little to help this issue.

The answer should be NO, regardless of who is President.

I find it funny the headline reads "Donald Trump" and no "President Trump". If this were Barack Obama, it would read "President Obama". LOLLLLLLL.

So if Pelosi and the rest of her buddies want Apple to have Trump's phone unlocked for "impeachment" purposes, I guess Apple should "step up to the plate" for that too?

Hopefully Tim Cook will tell Trump to take a hike with this and his so called "help" he's been giving Apple lol
A bogus/fake impeachment with zero evidence of any crime and a gunman going into an establishment gunning down people is hardly similar circumstances. Just sayin.

If this was Obama, these posts would lean more toward Apple being the bad guys not the President.

If we can see Pelosi's and all her buddies too. Yes, I'd let them look at my phone. I have nothing to hide.
Lol, unless you are the potus & about to be on trial for impeachment proceedings... ummm, why tf do you think anyone wants to see your phone or gives two sh**s whether or not you have anything to hide??
I think you may be confused about the conversation here.... we’re all talking about Apple & Trump.
Nobody (but you, apparently) has any interest in whether you are willing to not have security features on your phone.

Because Obama was Presidential. As were most every President preceding Obama. It's interesting you choose to compare to Obama...

No, they are suspected criminals who died before they went to trial.
You haven’t officially committed a crime until you’ve been convicted of such, it’s all allegations.

What has Apple lied about in the past?
What expertise do you have that makes you certain a product can be reverse engineered by those who designed it?
.
Seriously. That's your angle?
As for lies, I remember this, https://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/03/apple_timecapsule_hdd/, I remember it well as my hard drive died in my TC.......
Are you telling me that you believe that a company with the resource of Apple that wrote the code for this can't undo their own code I don't know what to tell you.

Right. There are no back doors.

There aren't any.
They are using AES256.
There are no known collisions or hacks.
You cannot brute force AES256.
The phone has firmware that extends the time to enter a password every time an incorrect password is entered or it will wipe after some number of attempts.
You can't change the firmware without the password.

The phone is a brick. That's how it's supposed to be.

No you are completely misunderstanding. Cellebrite is going through a backdoor. The anti-hammer provisions are a front door. Cellebrite can't modify core OS code due to OS signing. Apple holds the signing keys and can.

You're believing that there's some magic cryptography that guarantees that you can only try 10 pins. There isn't. There's explicit code that Apple wrote that can be bypassed by Apple. In fact, this code has been changed by Apple during regular iOS updates, e.g. when they added the feature to require a PIN once a week.

Arguing based on a misconception or technical ignorance just hurts the cause.

You can't update a phone you can't unlock.
So even if they had a custom version of the software, you would not be able to install it.

The Great Idiot Leader says lots of things, doesn't mean anyone has to bow in capitulation.

What about Obama's FBI? Was he an idiot to you too? They wanted the same thing.

Might have something to do with the short memory of the liberals on here. Roll back to 2016 and when the FBI wanted access to the San Bernardino shooter's phone. What did Obama say about the situation?

Obama said, “The Snowden issue vastly overstated the dangers to U.S. citizens in terms of spying,” but also said encryption is essential to keep hackers from destroying digital systems like banks or air traffic control.

“We’re going to have to make some decisions about how we balance those respective risks,” he said. “We’ve engaged the tech community aggressively to help solve this problem. You can’t take an absolutist stance on this. It’s fetishizing our phones above every other value, and that can’t be the right answer.”

That's literally the point of encryption.
I understand what the point of it is. Third parties crack it from time to time. Just have a hard time believing that if a third party can do it, Apple can't. On their own device????

Given what Jane Horvath (Apple Senior Director of Global Privacy) said at CES 2020 about their efforts to "help screen for child sexual abuse material" I'm not so sure about that any more. I'm starting to get the impression that it's more a choice rather than an impossibility to do it or not.
Of course it’s a choice. Apple can unlock any iPhone. They can deny it but please.

I can tell you have a great vocabulary.

Thank you! =)

I wish that I could say the same.

Sadly, in the very short post of yours I responded to- the 1st “sentence” is actually a fragment. Further, the word “buddies” is NOT possessive, it’s plural... for it to mean what you were trying to say, you need an apostrophe.

Luckily (for you), I replied to what you clearly meant, rather than nitpicking your atrocious grammar.

Anyways... anything tech related you wanted to chat about, or just more random off-topic anecdotes equating your importance with that of the president & passive aggressive insincere “compliments”?

I select only a few things to backup to iCloud. Other than that, my desktop. I don’t backup photos to the cloud.
Why not? What happens to your photos when your hard drive crashes? Or do you not care enough about the photos that it doesn't really matter?

You're welcome /s and you could, you're just choosing not to. Make it a great day or not....the choice is yours.

I agree with your comment about backups!
I pay for the 250gb/month, as family sharing allows all 5 of us to have secure & effortless backups for $3/mo.
With regards to your other comment... I suppose you have a point. I certainly COULD say the same to you. I should have clarified: I wish I could honestly same the same.
Hope that clears up any misunderstanding.

Check what I replied to I literally copied "buddies". Thanks for being the grammar police. Next time try being right about your accusations and your argument may have merit. How can you police my writing when you used "tf"? That's not even word. Time to bail out of the basement and get some sunlight my friend. Your efforts here are not strong enough.

For now, I guess it does. But if you edit this post like you did your last one that may change. Good try though. That's a great effort on your part. We could all be grammar allstars if we all had a chance to go back and rethink our thoughts and rewrite the mistakes we posted in haste to try to be the first person to point out grammar mistakes.

What does this have to do with Apple refusing to unlock iPhones?

I’m impressed with your slithery ability to change the topic from your idiotic post saying that YOU would be ok with having YOUR phone looked at.... if Nancy Pelosi & all her buddies would as well. That makes zero sense! Are you an important political figure? No? Then how tf does that equate??
Instead of replying, taking a high ground or anything... you get hyper insulting of me, whilst wrapping yourself tightly in some victim garb.

I live in Florida, btw.... & work outdoors- so your silly little attempt at a barb comes nowhere NEAR landing.
Sheesh- at least I only pointed out that your words make no sense. I didn’t go all aggro & go after you personally, by making some bizarre unsubstantiated wild guesses about your lifestyle, to sidestep the convo entirely!
