I don't fully get the issue. Apple has a signing window for iOS versions, they could make the signing window be device specific, make this device able to have an alternate iOS version installed that allows them to retrieve the information, provide it to authorities and then destroy the device. The iOS version that enabled this would not be installable on any other device because when that device checks Apples servers it would not be eligible for any iOS version other than the current public release. Maybe I am missing something though. Regardless I would agree that if you commit a crime there should be a way to get any information that would be required off of your device. How does it work when they confiscate a computer and then need to access the data?

**** Donald Trump. Wanna-be fascist loser.

Gotta love the cognitive dissonance of conservatives who claim to be for "small and limited government" yet agree with this bafoon.

The security and integrity of my personal data is more important than some JBTs at the FBI wanting to "protect" (Translation: "control") me. Screw them.

I'd rather take the extremely small risk of dying in a terrorist attack than live in a fascist police state. But hey, I'm not a cowardly sheep like most Americans these days.

He said nothing here. But I suppose there has to be an opposite side to every coin.

Just reminds me of his earlier quote from a different speech: "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters"

Apple should be criticized. American is a land of laws. A lawful order was given to Apple by a judge.

Apple (or anyone) in a democratic republic does not get to pick and choose what laws to follow.

Trump never really says anything at all. Full of empty quotes. Has is mentioned any real policy yet (other than bigoted, racist or anti-semitic ones)?

I agree with a lot of what Trump says, but can't abide this (also water boarding as it has already been repudiated as ineffective. Even CIA's Brennan doesn't see it as useful.)

This issue could be the beginning of The Donald's downfall.

Tim Cook has written a great letter and posted it on the apple homepage, now he has to get some great counter tweets and sound bites out there as a counter to DT's position.
