Here's a novel idea: How about a Trump sub-forum?

Im just kidding.... He gets way to much attention as it sits...

I'm not a student $100k in debt - stop with the comparisons.
.
I wasn't implying you were. For I think what is the third time, I was making a comparison between two opposing viewpoints that still vote based on one single issue or bullet point. Anyway, if you want to continue this discussion in happy to do so elsewhere. What we are discussing has now absolutely nothing to with this topic. This will be my last response to you on this particular subject in this thread in respect to others attempting to converse about the actual thread topic.

I haven't seen or heard a single socialist put themselves forward at the moment within the major parties? Sanders is a social democrat, which is a huge difference to a socialist.

Sanders claims to be a "democratic socialist". Not a "social democrat". There is a difference between those two things. Sanders is dangerous. Plain and simple.

This buffoon doesn't say anything good, god forbid he becomes President prepare yourselves to live a short life because we will only gain more enemies with his thinking. We'll be wiped out by our new enemies in no time. Stick to your other businesses Trump!

I find him a real idiot myself, he may have money that he likely stole from others but he doesn't say anything good. The US more than ever needs more allies not more enemies, a person with no skill and a big mouth like him is only going to gain us more enemies. I'm not really sure who he appeals to but it seems like the racist, KKK, etc fit his thinking well.

-Mike

Wow. I can't believe you are allowed to vote.
[doublepost=1455766659][/doublepost]
A lot Americans vote way, is all I'm saying. The student who realizes they are going to be $100k in debt before school is out is thinking about that and only that. What ends up happening when we vote like this is all of those other issues that weren't important to us begin the rear their ugly head. But it is what it is. Absolutely vote how you wish. You have yourself to worry about.

I didn't want this to be a discussion about Bernie, or any one candidate. I was just using an example that came to mind. I might have come up with something for Clonton, or Cruz, but sanders was the first good example I could come up with. I could continue discussing about various candidates, but again, in insure this is the place. If I am to blame for going off topic, I do apologize. The thread isn't about Bernie hell, it's not even really about Trump.

The reality is that this is absolutely rhetoric Apple has spun. Their product is produced in China not because it's cheaper but because they can't find the skilled labor in the US. This is a (paraphrased) statement from Tim Cook in a live interview. I'll look it up if I get a moment.

Just because Tim said it does not make it so. There are skilled people here who can build the phones. There aren't skilled people here who can build it at $3/hr.

If Tim went on 60 minutes and said "we build them in China because it costs us $40 to Build it there instead of the $400 it would cost here" it wouldn't play well in the media. It's all about the $$$$.

That picture alone should be considered disturbing the peace...
Feeling ashamed to have this Trump to spew out all kinds of nonsense in front of the whole world...

I think people aren't reading what the person that I responded to said for context to my reply. I'm aware that it's hogwash and purposefully mentioned that it is rhetoric spun by Tim Cook himself. I do not believe that apple couldn't find the skilled labor in the US. I do believe they couldn't find it at the price they wanted to pay to keep the margins they wanted to keep.

Apparently my statement of "rhetoric Apple has spun" wasn't clear enough, particularly because you're not the first person to misinterpret my meaning. Apologies.

Time for everyone to change from a numeric passcode to a complex alphanumeric passcode:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204060

A good article on Engadget in 2014 states the simple yet important facts about password entropy: "Even opting for a slightly longer 6 character passcode increases the number of possible passcode combinations from 10,000 to 208.4 billion (77^6)." To make it clear, simply choosing to use the "custom alphanumeric code" setting for an iOS passcode immediately and massively strengthens your device against brute force decryption attempts. That is true even if you continue to then use the same 6-digit numeric code that you always have. Obviously, each additional character adds significantly more strength.

Maybe someone that understands that type of encryption algorithms used in iOS9 and the current potential speed of cracking tools in 2016 can give us all a recommendation for a reasonable number of characters to use.

Apple, EFF and others should start publishing this information heavily.

OP is just like every other fickle voter. candidate A doesn't agree with me on ONE SINGULAR THING I HATE THEM. person B agrees with another SINGULAR aspect of something that won't affect me, THEY SHOULD BE PRESIDENT PRAISE BE.

trying to be subjective here, but besides his policy on Mexico (e.g. build a wall), can the Trump supporters tell me why you'll vote for him?

This is a great marketing tactic for Trump. Not only it gives him more spotlights than he already has, it also created a confusion between the opponents' supporters. Eg. a democrat/Obama supporter that was hating Trump would have some conflicting thoughts when the opponent is agreeing on the same thing. It might flip some people into supporting Trump as well.

I'm a Trump supporter... but I respectfully disagree with him on this issue. Tim is 100% right, and even more right when he says the FBI/Government will "word this differently".

As far as I understand, both sides (FBI vs Apple) have valid reasons - there's no easy way out of this one, I think.
First of all: Not attacking you! Just genuinely curious. Why do you support Donald trump? Why would anyone?

completely agree with Donald

Donald Trump is a moron and conservatives are embarrassed by him.

yeah
unfortunately he is much cleverer and richer and influential then you are, so you are not the best judge eh !

so many intelligent comments in this thread by people who know nothing about Donald Trump except what they have read in the NY post ..... :O

Interesting that he is on the left of the GOP - not that anyone is interested in the facts

Trump is a racist idiot, what is even less surprising is Americans who actually want him to become president. Some people in your country must be dumb as ****

Lol trump is about as left as my right hand, a person who is left wouldn't be such a racist **** as trump is. Trump is PRO business as anything, he is a right wing capitalist at the very core.

Apple can easily unlock this phone and hand it over to the Feds without revealing any deencryption secrets or tools. This phone wasn't even owned by the terrorist, it was given to him by his employer, the state of California. The phone is government property.

Tim Cook is indirectly assisting terrorists by not complying with the order. Cook can fight it, that is his right. He may have to fight it from jail, and he probably should. I'm all for individual privacy. Apple can comply with with the order and still protect everyone's right to encrypted privacy.

IMO, Tim Cook is doing this not to protect privacy, but to protect his market share. The outrage from Apple patrons would be high and sales would certainly suffer if he complies right away. He will eventually cave and the spin machine at Apple will make it seem like Cook is some crusader for privacy rights. He is driven by the stocks and the almighty dollar, that's it.

I work "in the industry". But let's just call it a hunch.

Once the software is created its out there. Even without access to the source there's nothing to say the FBI can't copy it and use it on similar iPhones. If it's copied by the FBI there's no reason to expect it won't be used by other government agencies and if any of them get hacked, there's nothing to stop it being used by anyone else with the technical know how. It's a Pandora's box that's the point, not only that but court opinions set precedents. If this order is allowed to stand, there's nothing to stop more orders of the same kind.
