... For me, I am not using it as I had might of thought I would and have changed my mind on the item...
What did you think you were going to do with it? Serious question.

Maybe you need to buy some apps to get the most from it? I've had mine a week, and I'm spending a lot of time looking at the App Store.

Perhaps you should try the thread Share your artwork made on your IPP and AP. Sorry you misinterpreted the thread title.
Well yeah, I thought this was going to be another one like that. Joke's on me :)

There's some amazing stuff being created.

That there is. I'm always disappointed on days that people start discussing technique or apps in that thread instead of just posting their latest creations.

Of course the artwork is great, but I find discussion of apps and techniques also very informative.

I'm most definitely not an artist. And I love my Apple Pencil.

I use it almost exclusively for handwriting notes during meetings and jotting down ideas. I find it's less obtrusive to write than type (though I'm of the older pen & notepad generation).

And with an app like GoodNotes, I can search for text in my notes despite being handwritten. I need only carry my iPad Pro - don't need tons of paper or a briefcase any more.

Love love love it. Love it so much I bought an extra Pencil to keep at the office, heaven forbid I forget my Pencil at home. Fortunately that hasn't happened and my new iPad case has a built-in Pencil holder.

I'm afraid I see things differently also then, I most certainly don't think it should have been a free bundled item, it's an optional accessory,...

To charge money for an accessory is most certainly not greed. To expect products for free just because you want them is a very serious case of entitlement.
Trying to ridicule a poster by continously claiming he/she expects products for free is bad sport.
The stated opinion was that the item should have been included given the price paid. I believe this is the case with the Surface Pro whose stylus isn't bad either.

And as far as I can figure out, the least expensive configuration for the Surface Pro is $900, while the iPad Pro 12.9 starts at $800. I know not everything is equivalent, but it does seem like even people who don't need the Surface Pen are paying for it.

I kind of agree with you. Me being a visual person and "a picture being worth 1000 words", and all.

That said, doing art on a computer is new to me. I have experience with traditional materials - but I'm grappling to figure out how to replicate with an Apple pencil what I know how to do with a 2B pencil, pen and ink, oils, acrylics, watercolors, etc. It's quite a blast. Hesitant and full of mis-steps, but utterly absorbing.

And no messy cleanup - just snap the iPad cover shut. Done! I really like that. :)

That's an interesting thought about it being less obtrusive. I can see huge value in that. I'm sure we've all sat in meetings where one person's up-front presenting and everyone else is hunkered-down behind a wall of laptop screens, furiously clickety-clacking.

And the question occupying everyone's mind is: Who's taking notes and who'd just googling for takeout menus? Hard to tell. It really undermines the whole point of meeting face-to-face. Something about the laptop screens being a physical barrier.

I prefer notepads myself (flat on the table - out in the open - no barrier) but there's never time to transcribe. So I've reluctantly become a clickety-clacker.

I think I need to experiment with the pencil a bit more. I already have GoodNotes, although I haven't used it in years. Time to dust it off.

"it is an stylus.and to charge $100 extra for it is just pure greed.you cannot argue with that."

Apple is premium brand, and that means they can sell at a premium price. i dont get the "greed" meme here. Its either worth it or it isn't. Better luck on the bmw forums

The Surface Pen is $60 for the Surface 3 and up (Switched to N-Trig). The original surface used Wacom technology so you could find a number of pens that had varying costs with the same functionality. Plus the Surface Pens have an eraser function. The Surface Pro 3 starts at $799 with an i3 and 64 gig SSD. The Surface Pro 4 starts at $899 for the one with the Intel mCore and 128 gig. Both include the Surface Pen.

The appeal of the iPad Pro for me, was the Pencil but at $100 extra it's not worth it to me, I would rather get a Surface Pro 4. I understand that the Pencil isn't for everyone but in my eyes that is the appeal of the iPad Pro but at the prices it sells at it's not something I would invest in. Now if they came out with a Mini iPad Pro then I would get that.

For the record I own an iPhone 6s and mini 3 LTE, also have the original Surface Pro, still going strong. So I'm not an Apple hater.

Off topic, does OneNote work with the Pencil on the iPad Pro?

Its difficult though - a lot of people won't need or use the pencil, so there's definitely a case for them not having to pay for it as part of the 'in the box' contents.

I got an Adonis Jot stylus a couple of years ago, but ended up hardly using it, as it just wasn't quite right in terms of comfort and lag. I have a good use case for the pencil, and have been finding it fantastic. Extremely comfortable to hold - it seems obvious, but making it so similar in form to an actual pencil plays a big part in that.

And for fun in a mindful way, the Pigment app with all the colouring in is a fantastic app.

I'm a bit surprised at the rejection of the Pencil by non-artists. Before the price hike of the 9.7 pro soured me, the reason I was going to upgrade from my Air 2 was the Pencil -- to take quick notes when the keyboard would be awkward or impractical. Is the Pencil not good for this purpose?

I'm finding that the greatest impediment to using the Pencil is not having a reliable and convenient way of storing and transporting it.

I've added the Moxiware magnetic grip to my father's day list so that will go a long way in making it more convenient.

Waterfield do a nice little holder for it:

And I think some of their newer bags / cases have a little slot for it.

I have one of their solo bags and love it.

I'm sure it's good for note taking, but personally, I don't take enough notes to justify paying $100. But I've seen many posts from people saying they bought the Pencil for note taking and love it.

Nice. That Waterfield holder wouldn't work for me since it is (A) $30 and (B) doesn't attach to the iPP w/ASK combo. I often go from meeting to meeting with just that combo and something that attaches directly is preferred. But it certainly is nice looking.

Wow, that looks interesting. I also have the Pro with the Apple Keyboard, and nowhere to put the Pencil. Anyone tested it out?

I just saw this. Don't know if it actually works, but seems like an interesting idea.

The Pencil works SO much better than any Surface stylus ever created that it's worth every penny. (SP1 and SP3 owner here).

I LOVE mine. I can attach the Pencil to the Smart Keyboard cover as well as to the iPP.

It also makes the Pencil less slithery.

And the cap will stay on the side of the Pencil while charging.

I have it in white.

I think it can be used as a pointing device, and for that reason, I'd keep it. You'll probably not get too much back from selling it on ebay. I'm hoping we'll see enhancements to its functionality as apple rolls out iOS 10.

Lol, spoken like a gent that has NEVER sold Apple gear on eBay!!! =P
Apple kit resale is phenomenal.
I bought my Apple Pencil straight from Apple because I couldn't find one on eBay open box selling for less than about $90.
OP can pretty easily recoup 90% of the price from eBay. Not bad! (think of it like a restocking fee...)
