Don't buy an apple watch or you will regret it in 3 years, every watch sold right now (series 11, se 3 ans ultra 3) have the S10 chip which has the same cpu/gpu than the s9 from almost 3 years ago... if you don't want the series 8 case to happen to you then please wait for the series 12 !
Who keeps an Apple Watch for more than three years anyways? The battery grades pretty much after that the longest I’ve kept one is four cause I was waiting for a processor upgrade.

I've never owned the Apple Watch. Coz the battery life is so short. The watch is relatively expensive. And the watch is far too large.

My Casio is $15 and runs for a decade per charge, small and light.
My old Nokia had a battery life of about a week and was very cheap and tiny. Not buying a smartphone for those reasons seems like missing the point of what a smartphone is for. If you want a watch to tell the time and nothing but the time, sure the $15 Casio is great. An Apple Watch is generally not bought by people who only want to know the time from their watch I think.

The Apple Watch will continue to work just like the day it was purchased for 6-10 years without problem. There are forum users still using Series 2 watches with iOS 26.

How will they "regret" it? New hardware comes out all the time and those who bought previous versions won't have what new versions have. Watch OS is very hardware focused.

If you're trying to say - buy the latest chip design for longest OS support, then ok, but it's not like the watch will stop working - it'll work just fine for a very long time.

I'd also add, you can sometimes get amazing deals from Best Buy $100 off - and get a current generation Apple Watch for a really good deal.
I still use my Series 4. Nothing about a subsequent AW has encouraged me to upgrade. It still works fine with iOS 26 and my 16 Pro. Battery is getting very weak (67% capacity!) but the thing is nearly 8 years old.

I’m on a Series 4. I’m missing out on some newer features, but it still does what I need it to so I’m riding it until it dies!
