I’ve always had iPhone Pros. First time I’m considering buying both the Pro and Air, both in white.
N1 C1 could qualify first gen I suppose but that’s iPhone Air. Not iPhone 17. There is no “second gen products” without specifying what aspect of it is “first gen”. Design? Chip? Manufacturing nodes? Besides, iPhone 17 is as mature as it gets. So I don’t see the argument from OP.

I have to admit...the entire time during Apple's presentation yesterday - and I do mean the ENTIRE TIME - I was sitting there wondering to myself "Hmm. I wonder what Astuces iOS thinks about the new offerings?"

I'm waiting for Astuces iOS's opinion on whether I should buy the new iPhone. Astuces is GOD when it comes to making iPhone purchase decisions. I was likely unclear in that comment. I was referring to the new 17 Air.
I do tempted to buy the Air with that MagSafe specially made for it. I see people test out , attach with it. It Still look Slim with the MagSafe. I don't particular on the latest features to be honest like having the best camera, speakers and faster. This is why Air caught my attention as Apple finally has Air version for iPhone. Even come iPad I never go for Pro , I get the iPad Air. Yeah some folks here Do tell me wait for one more year, Air 2 Might be better perhaps even Slimmer ? and the MagSafe too? I don't now on that MagSafe. I feel the size should be the same Or perhaps they come out higher capacity. So far Apple like never stated how many mAH this new MagSafe Only for iPhone air is how much. Some folks told me base on Apple claim extra xxx hours of video. Guess should be 1800 mAh.
Seems quite an aggressive response from a contributor. Ultimately the OP is just giving his opinion, which even if we may disagree it is ultimately just that.
Your recommendations fail to consider that everyone uses their iPhone in their own unique way. Some people are big gamers while others focus on pictures. Some would value a light weight iPhone. Others might prioritize battery life.
Your post gives the same recommendation for absolutely everyone. It doesn’t take into account what iPhone they currently own. It doesn’t take into account what they personally value in an iPhone.
People often post asking what iPhone they should buy. They explain what iPhone they currently have and what benefit a new iPhone might bring to them personally. They’ll often explain what features matter to them and why. Those things are all important factors in making a buying decision.
What I learn from your post is what features you value and what iPhone you have.

If you check his posting history, he isn't merely sharing his opinion. When other members reply to his posts with valid retorts, he argues his position regardless.

In all seriousness, there is nothing to disagree on. Same 3nm chip for 3 consequitive generations, no new AI features, high price, misleading marketing. I could have called it "s update" but 16 Pro was already "15s", but 17 is not really different from 16, even design of baseline models is same. People who buy it now will probably be biting their nails in a year or so (or shelling same money for upgrade).
Even when reviews come up in 10 days, it will feel even more lackluster, especially if someone compares camera array side-by-side with any iPhone down to 14. And forum is gonna be like "Apple stopped innovating!". Yes, they obviously did, and it didn't happen in a day. They are now coca-cola of tech world: same, bland, unnatural.
I dislike the inconsistency of 17 series, recap from recent forum postings:
- 4K120 only on 17 Pro. Why, only because Apple wants more money?
Seriously, what's the reason? 17 and Air are more than capable.
- No speaker on Air. How come? iPhone always had one. Even 16e has one.
- No ProRAW on Air. Why? Device costs as 16 Pro was a year before.
- No rumored features like Pro Camera app, 8K (aren't iPhones already powerful enough or Apple is simply moving it further for new iPhones?
- Air has a featureset of a budget phone yet premium price tag, just for thinness?
- Design. People hated it when it was just a rumor, and now they suddenly love it.
Tbh I am ok with design, but I belive people are going to be divided on that;
- Colors. BTW, how come 17 Pro has such a weird color options?
I love black, jet black, space gray. Only 3 colors? Weird. I can use case sure, but there are lots of people who won't
- Misleading marketing. Highly anticipated "8x zoom" camera turned out to be...4x, but marketed as "fusion" or "8x". Yes, I saw that iPhone 16 can do impressive digital zoom. But digital zoom must be used as rarely as possible, I would have much preferred real 8x zoom and 16x digital zoom than this

- oh, and PWM switcher seems to be confirmed to be exclusive to 17 Pro only. WHY? I mean it should work on any iPhone, not just 17 Pro. Ok, maybe it needs some specific display, but if all 17 series have same display, why it is not available on other phones? So eye health is now 1100$ exclusive? WOW!
- vapor chamber, 17 Pro exclusive. STUPID! 17 and Air are gonna be the most liked devices by young adults and kids: the target audience that actually loves gaming and intensive tasks. They don't wanna pay a lot for a phone but wanna get as much as possible from it. Is that primitive water pipe that expensive so Apple couldn't equip all iPhones with it? And yeah, classic: "Androids had it for years"

- weirdo magsafe battery. No, I mean it looks awesome and should have actually been accessory for every iPhone, but isn't Apple hiding something? I feel that in less than 10 days we will know the bitter truth that Air is prone to overheating much more often than any other iPhone. With more heat comes decreased battery performance. So no intensive tasks for this phone. I would be glad if this isn't the case.

In your opinion. And thats all it is. The 17 line, especially the base and the Air, look to be a pretty damn good upgrade particularly if they’re upgrading from a 14 or older.
