since the ipad mini is most likely not happening what is the hold up with waiting for iTunes 11 till end of october?

also can they even have the event the week after the 17th because isnt there the shares call that week?

So who says it's most likely not happening? Just because they didn't send out event invites yesterday?

You won't regret it. I have one and I love the thing. Its fast, battery life is great, does everything I need it to do, and is half the price of an iPad.

I'm having second thoughts about the size of the display, i.e., its aspect ratio. The iPad seems to have an ideal aspect ratio, but the Nexus and Kindle Fire are just too slim.

I was disappointed on the no show this week but I have to admit it was a rumor with very little support. I'm certain they are being made and there will either be an invite next week or a quiet release like they do with the mac minis and imacs.. Since it is a new product I tend to believe there will be some kind of event for it. I will say that the mini has had more rumors and false leads than any other Apple product that I can think of so only believe trusted sources but trust no one! The mini is out there! I want to believe!. ;)

Chill out people, christ... So the invites date rumor was false, that doesn't mean all the 1000 other rumors are. Invites might go out next week or whatever. Relax. I swear you guys are going to force Matt & Trey to make another Apple parody, this time about the community rather than the company. Actually that would be cool...please continue :D:apple:

I am actually planning on buying in the spring anyway. So I don't really care if one comes out next week or in the spring. I just want confirmation that one is coming out in the near future.

iPads, iPhones and iPods have always been released year after year. It wouldn't make any sense for them to release another iPad now. Apple has been building on this way of working for years now, and people expect to be able to refresh at that timescale. It's part of the reason these iOS device releases are so huge. Why would they cut into that foundation, with this niche product? Just because everyone is talking about it?

Actually they used to release the iPhone in the summer, not the fall.

Also, the iPad mini isn't going to be the successor of the iPad. It will be a new device.

You can't even see why such a product would make sense for Apple. How can you think of understanding what you can't possibly know?

My guess is Apple has delayed the iPad Mini on purpose last minute, in order to prevent supply problems similar to the iPhone 5.

Wouldn't apple be at an advantage if they were able to release a budget iPad mini on time for the holidays? Seems like a no brainer to me. As long as the product is ready that is...

I addressed this in a previous post, and what would make more sense is an "iPad mini" being released along side the 4th generation iPad. A simple example of this is looking at the iPod devices which IF and when they are updated, are all updated at the same time.

Oh, I'm sorry. I kneel before your great product and marketing expertise.

Yeah I knew you'd run out of arguments, good talk though.
With people like you, it's never a matter of arguments. There will never be any even remotely worthy to discuss, right?
Apple lead the tablet market up until past yesterday, when its market share shrunk in favor of Android tablets. Is it possible by any chance that Apple lost market from where it isn't competing?
Is it possible that in fact there is a big demand for a 7inch tablet?
Is it possible that there are people waiting at the door for a nexus7-like device but with iOS?

Let me guess, you'll call BS on every single argument.

Ah, that's better.

They are all valid arguments, but does that mean apple will break their cycle? something they've been doing for years? renewing EVERY SINGLE iOS product a year apart? I can't deny the fact that there might be an iPad mini on the way, but not this year. It's not something to think hard and long about, it's common sense.

Wrong, look at the release cycle for the iPhone, and they have released 3 iPads. Not a long history to go on there.

Read my previous posts again, iPhone has had an extension in development time after which they continued their cycle. Releasing a product later in time is one thing, you might leave people hanging to upgrade their devices, refreshing a product earlier than expected is a whole different story.

And what about the white iPhone 4 and a mid-cycle refresh?

I'm not giving up hope yet, although it's a little shattered with not invitations yet. I really want I bad (Saying this already having a Nook Color - but I want an Apple "eReader" with all its benefits and compatibility and OS and stuff)

No point wasting anymore time with you. You're hopeless, and I have a job and can't sit trying to talk to kids all day here.

I think this thread needs to be locked and closed. It is no longer dealing with facts rumors or anything but insults.
Some will be correct, some wrong but ??

I'm just surprised MacRumors hasn't posted a front page story mentioning the lack of invites. This seems like as significant an iPad Mini development as any that's been posted in the past couple of weeks.

This rumor was garbage. Apple's not going to ruin iPod review day by having it drowned out by invite talk. iMore's latest podcast talks about this. It's still almost certainly a thing, that will be out before the end of the year.

No one credible has said a thing about this supposed invite date. Yesterday was iPod reviews from every site. Apple manages their coverage fairly precisely, in hindsight that would've been rather strange to invite the press then.
