While I have an iPhone 7, my iPad Air 2 is still my preferred media consumption device.
  • I like my iPhone for convenience on the go, and for photos, and it's small enough to not be a bother.
  • I like my iPad for streaming, internet, quick, photo editing, MRF, etc. the larger screen is just better.
Getting an iPhone 7+ would be a compromise--for me--on both fronts. It would be more cumbersome for the phone usages and a smaller screen for the iPad usages.
This is exactly my experience with the 6+. Tried using it for a couple of months and it felt too big as a phone and too small for web surfing, PDF, etc.

That said, the 16:9 aspect ratio on the iPhone 6/6s/7 Plus really is much nicer for modern video content. A significant portion of the screen on an iPad is just letterboxing when watching HDTV content (1.78 aspect ratio) and practically half when watching most modern films (2.35 aspect ratio). For re-runs of Buffy, Charmed, etc, though, the iPad rules. :D

I still use my Mini 2 everyday, mainly to read the NY Times and video streaming. It's a much better experience for me than reading/streaming on my SE or 7.

If I had a 6/6s/7 Plus, I imagine that I probably would not use my iPad as much as I do now.

I'm new to the plus size iPhone now (iPhone 7 Plus). I find myself rarely using my iPad Air 2 anymore. Is this typically what most plus users have gone through?
No each time i go to the bathroom (the throne) i take my ipad with me however the hemorrhoids are not THAT happy.

iPad Pro 9.7/12.9 is unbeatable for media stuff. Simple as that :) 7 Plus, or 7 - doesn't really matter, because iPhone is an iPhone - smartphone, portable device and nothing more. And discussions like "iPhone 7 plus is as good as iPad for my leisure time" are totally the same as "watching movies on my 12" laptop gives me same experience as watching them in cinema" :)

Ive always had iPads but never really got into the habit of using them, I tend to get one for 2 years on contract and upgrade when its due. Trouble is, if I'm home I will always use my MacBook (I don't think you can get any better than MacOS) and if I'm out and about I tend to use my phone and its even better now I've got my Plus. I like the fact it just goes in my pocket.

I should probably use the iPad more considering how much it costs. Its nice having it around though just in case and the wife and daughter like it.

No, my iPhone is my smartphone. My tablet is my main personal computer. I use it with a keyboard and the pencil to accomplish a lot more than I could even on a 5.5" iPhone.

I've been using plus models since the 6. I do tend to use my iPad less because I don't take it out with Ms because I have my plus. But at home I prefer using my iPad. Especially when typing documents and watching videos.

Newer iPads still has the multi-window features over iPhone Plus models...

It is rare, but there are people who use iPads with a data sim as a main phone. Basically turned it into an ASUS Fonepad. They just get some unlimited plan and will go use a VOIP app like Viber to message and occasionally call. I was really considering that on the iPad mini 4 because it has same A8 chip as iPhone 6 Plus but they are cheaper with the extra gig of RAM and better multi-window features. The ones on the Plus model feels so limited. The value from iPads are still there even though I never got into the tablet movement.

Trouble with ipad is that your boyfriend will find your sext messages on it because you forgot to disable synching with your iphone. Very dangerous device. Should be illegal.

Not sure if that's satirical or not

But not only should it not be illegal, your fault if you mishandle sensitive information

And if I were dating a girl or boy, I wouldn't be sending suggestive pictures of myself to another person, kinda how a relationship works, you commit to one person.

For years Apple fans laughed at Android users when they claimed multitasking was a reason to go droid. And rightly so. When would you ever need the split screen?!

Before my 7+ I used to take my iPad everywhere and couldn't do without a cellular iPad. Now the iPad just stays home for watching Netflix and I cancelled the cellular plan. I want to get excited about a new iPad Pro but I'm not sure I need it as I have a MacBook Pro for tasks I can't do on my phone.

I rarely use my iPad Air 2 and retina MacBook Pro since graduating from university. Just enjoy the experience so much on my 7 Plus.

I only use my iPad for music and my MacBook for editing drone footage.

I used to use my Mini 1 more, but now it's just horribly slow even compared to my previous iPhone 5. Lately I seem to be reaching for my MacBook Pro if I don't want to use my phone for something.

Apple have to be careful of their iPhone screen sizes. Tablet market is pretty much dead on Android because everyone have a nearly 6" screen they don't feel the need to buy tablets, or the manufacturers just aren't offering highend Android tablets anymore for some reason.

Guess it's all a matter of what you normally use the iPad for. Playing games like the sims,Sid Meier pirates or similar, need the larger iPad screen.
For phot/video editing on the go,the iPad is also necessary.

I use my iPad every single day of the year. It's nicer doing iPhone things on a bigger screen and it means I don't have to buy the ridiculously huge Plus model. My wife and children all have iPads too.

I still use both my air 2 and iPad Pro a lot. My phone is essentially for calls, text messages and quick videos or internet browsing but for extended use, I still prefer my iPad for the bigger screen and I don't want to drain my phone battery for over use it. I plan to keep my phone as long as I can so I try to use it for comunications first and my iPads for entertainment.

My iPad use never decreased with iPhones. My iPhone use is minimal, I use mainly my iPad for everything and my iPhone for phone-related things.
Yesterday, for instance, my iPad had 40% and my phone had 90% remaining at the end of the day. And I got the plus. This has always been like this since the 5s and I think that regardless of the phone I have if iPads keep existing it will be like this.

I'm on a SE and yet, my iPad usage has all but evaporated and my iPad is collecting dust.
