Whys there always some really odd bitter comments from iphone 5S owners about the 5C? It almost sounds like it annoys you that a lot of iphone die hards actually choose it for good reasons over the 5S.

You hit the nail on the head. That's the reason why. It shouldn't matter to everyone what I chose. I've had every iPhone from day 1 until now. This time I chose the 5c and I had my 5 for about 4 days when I realized I despised the design of it...

I'm a spec whore, so I went for the 5s; if it was based on design and feel alone, I'd pick the 5c for sure.

I do like Touch ID, and sometimes it does take an extra try for it recognize my finger, but worse comes to worst I can't still use my passcode.

Before I had to change my 12-digit passcode to four digit one for convenience, but now I can have a good passcode and easy unlock.

Otherwise I think the two phone are identical; if anything I find the older 32-bit software to be a bit more stable. My iPhone 5 has never crashed, but it seems my 5s like to crash all the time.

Comments here are so depressing. The iPhone 5c is a plastic iPhone 5; that's it. The iPhone 5s is suppose to be this years flagship. The way I see it the 5c is a downgrade from the iPhone 5 just because of the plastic body. So basically OP downgraded 1.5 times from the 5s.

Got my 5S at launch a few months ago.... I always felt that my 5S was just too light and fragile. It was such a thing of beauty that I couldn't use my phone like I wanted out in the wild.

TouchID was awesome the first day, until I realized that I needed to scan my finger EVERY single time I wanted to unlock the screen. Totally killed it for me, and it slowed down the process of using my phone so much I turned it off and was much happier. (I use passcode lock, with a 15 minute non-use timer so I don't have to enter it constantly. TouchID needs this.) Also, my mechanic's thumbs have a constantly changing fingerprint due to dry skin, turning bolts, cuts, grease, that TouchID rarely worked for me day after day. One day's thumb would work great, until I worked on a car. After that job, the thumb would no longer scan.

I've had my new 5C for a few days now, and I can say that I'm genuinely happier. Using NO case at all, it's just plain comfortable to hold and talk on the phone with. The 5S would hurt my ear.

With the Apple 5C case installed, it's even better than I expected. Feels so solid, and I can throw it in my toolbox and not worry about it.

Will I ever notice the drop in processor generation? No, I highly doubt it. I doubt anyone would unless comparing side by side, or until iOS8/9 comes out. I'll never notice the camera quality either. I'm glad that the front facing camera in the C is the same as the 5S though. That's an area that always needs improvement year after year.

Moral: Should have gotten the 5C to begin with and trusted my gut instinct. I'm usually one to buy the top of the line products, but at this point there's just no need to anymore. The 5C does everything 90% of the population will ever need in an iPhone.

Now if it only came in black…..:(

Not exactly buying this story totally. Sorry. I have dry hands. Never had a problem with TouchID. Never had to rescan a finger. The key with TouchID is to scan several fingers and make sure you do with BOTH hands. I've never had to re-scan a finger once. I just use a different finger. Sometimes I have used a different finger, but I've never EVER had to re-scan a single finger. I think the technology is amazing honestly in its reliability.

As for the fragility claim, yes that was aired on FOX News, I saw the story, but it's no more fragile than the original iPhone in my opinion which I dropped many times. And my original iPhone was dropped in many ways without a case. I just wish I could pop the case open and release the power button and it would most definitely still work, but nobody does repairs on those anymore.

Is the iPhone 5c more crash proof? Maybe a little, so I see your point there only in that the plastic case might hide scratches better, but there's virtually no difference in the glass so if you drop either of them bad enough they'll crack the same way.

The camera quality on the 5s is pretty impressive and I think better.

I originally wanted a 5c which is funny, because initially they were out of stock before the 5s stock issues started so I had the exact opposite problem of most people and ended up getting $100 off for the black 5s with no commitment.

Got my 5S at launch a few months ago. Liked that it was fully loaded, had every feature possible, and would hold me over for another two years. I had seen and touched the 5C and loved how it felt in my hand, but kept telling myself it was old-tech and not worth it.

I can respect this opinion, especially with Touch ID. If it worked say 97-99% of the time on the first try it would be less of a hassle.

Plus we haven't really seen any apps that take advantage of the A7 yet. I guess you're buying it to future proof yourself but as is right now it's a spec, and not much more.

Finally the softer touch plastic is definitely nicer to hold than cold aluminum. There's a reason why plastic permeates the Lumia line. It's just a nicer feeling material overall.

An iphone is an iphone. There shouldn't be competition between 5c and 5s users. It's still in the iphone family. People have different needs and wants and it's refreshing to finally get some choices.

Yes, totally agree.

Is the iPhone 5c more crash proof? Maybe a little NOT,..

Someone posted a youtube video about a drop test between the 5S and the 5C. The 5S suffered a wee more edge damage due to the aluminum, however the 5C proudly strutted a cracked screen.

In the end, I'm sure there are going to be stories both ways, but I wouldn't make the assertion the plastic will protect the phone better.

I can see how rough hands would have trouble with fingerprint.

As far as throwing in the 5c in the toolbox, I say, hey, my Apple stock needs to go higher! ;)

I can't believe there is people that despise the design of the iPhone 5S, come on the thing is absolutely beautiful, I got the silver one and it seriously is a work of art, most beautiful phone ever, In fact the beautiful design and the smoothness of IOS are the only reasons I stay faithful to the brand, that tacky 5c can't even compare

The OP is exactly the user the 5C was designed for. As for me, couldn't pry my 5S out of my hand with a crowbar... no way I'd go back.

Bravo to Apple for providing the options.

Until the Samsung Note line comes up with a more solid design or Apple release a 5"+ phone I stick with iPhones purely for build quality, in this instance the 5s is the phone for me.

This. I've owned Samsung phones, but the difference in build quality is substantial. I want a phone that feels like it's worth the money I paid for it.

But back on topic, I can definitely see the appeal of the 5c. I myself wouldn't want it, but it's a terrific phone. It does befuddle me why they didn't make it in black and why they used a black front rather than a white front. For the crowd they're trying to target with the 5c, it seems the white front would've been a better choice. But, who am I to question the Apple brain trust!

My 11 year old daughter opened her green 5c yesterday for her birthday, and I have spent much of today picking it up and admiring how pretty it is and how nice it feels. I am a happy 5s owner, but truthfully, had I chosen a 5c for myself, I am sure I would have been happy as well. I will be curious to see holiday sales data, I thought this phone would hit the sweet spot for Tweens and teens and I know several who will be getting theirs tomorrow. I hope it remains in the line up.

I get that "Why didn't you get the 5s?" comment a lot. I answer honestly. I do not see the need for a 64-bit processor with the few apps I use. The finger print scanner would not be used and may actually be more of a hassle than not. The motion co-processor is only useful for certain activities. I still don't like the glass and aluminum everywhere. Especially when it feels so light and fragile.

I came from a long line of Androids. This was my first iPhone. I like it. A lot actually. The pretty blue color makes me smile too....

I downgrade from a Patek watch to a Rolex or even casio at times.

I couldn't be happier as there is no way a patek can be used in the swimming pool without headache.

I tried this yesterday. Currently using a 5s and stopped by the AT&T store and picked up a 5c after reading through this thread. I feel like the Touch ID has been a bit of a letdown with how often I end up turning it off and thought I could make some money selling off the 5s and picking up a c.

I honestly felt like the 5c didn't perform quite as well or the response times were ever so slightly longer. I don't know. It also felt greasy no matter how many times I washed my hands. Cost me a $35 restocking fee but now I'm sure I have the right phone.

Everyone doesn't need a Porsche. Some people are content with a Ford Focus.

Enjoy your 5C TC.

Agreed! I have my little Toyota Yaris. I could of afforded a more expensive car but I didn't need it. This car has all the important features I want with great reliability.

I'm also happy with my 5c. =]

I disliked the 5C colors, except for the white one, but it does have a good build quality.

Happy with my 5S though.
