The symbols that you are seeing are replacement for the encryption that is not known, Check out the master certificate and see if you can't find anything about the encryption, i know that it is RSA encryption which uses to non co-prime numbers as the base.

Good to hear the updates, as for me, Im off to bed, i have a meeting with a senetor tommorrow about some grants for a college in my local area.

Hmm, sounds like fun. Me too, I'mm leave this for the long weekend. I have a couple of exams tomorrow, so I need to fresh and cherry!:)

Good work today, can't wait to continue the progress.:)

If I installed AFP'd, do you think it might still work with 1.1.3? If so, I'd have Root access to the 'pod.

I don't think it'll work, though.

I'm willing to help with this, if you need another iPod to check.

thanks for the offer, its great to see other people craving to add their efforts in on this project. I'll be back tomorrow afternoon to continue my findings!

Pippen...Out

@ spaz:: thanks alot, i've successfully downgraded & re-jailbroken, & will stay like this until further info on the 1.1.3 files, etc...

Just an update I have a few co- workers looking into the files using so e software that I currently do not have access to. Hopefully this will yeild so e significant results that ch make a good advance and progress towards our communities goal. That being said, I'm on my way backto work for so e more fun programming and file deconstruction.

Hey everybody. I was looking through the actual 1.1.3 update files from iTunes, and just like the App Pack, if you zip it then unzip it, files pop out, almost like a surprise.;)

Mainly, there is a .plist file mainly talking about the "Restore" process, but I couldn't find any of my personal data on it. Then there is a "Firmware" folder. The ironic thing though is that is has two folders, one which reads "all_flash" and the other which says "dfu" The "all_flash" folder contains IMG2 Files and a normal manifest file. I can't open the Mainfest folder because its just a plain file. (Probably works on a Mac). For the rest of the contents, just .dmg files. Still working at the nikita_reciept and a English to Japanese/Chinese Translator.;):apple:

UPDATE: Just opened up some of the files in the "dfu" folder, and its encrypted, but there is some English in it. Such as, "Apple Certification Authority", "Apple Root CA", "it looks like this is the identification file. And the other file is the error file I believe. It looks like system errors that I've seen before. The spinning the circle of death, connect to iTunes error message, so on and so forth.

The Manifest file's contents are just the contents of the folder. Any luck with Restore.plist?

EDIT: The .dmgs are encrypted.

EDIT2: AFPing in doesn't work (based on the IP my router claims my iPod is.

UPDATE: CONFIRMED, the Applications are on the software update to begin with. In the Restore.plist, the mention of "4A93" is mentioned quite a lot, which is the App Pack from Apple. The rest is jibberish about recovery mode, the device, and it includes where the iPod should look for the rest of the update. Hopefully this has anything to do with anything, but hey, I think I'm getting somewhere.:)

4A93 is the build, by the way, Pippen.

.../Firmware/all_flash/all_flash.n45ap.production/LLB.n45ap.RELEASE.img2 is standing out to me.

Reason?

LL/B is the end of the new product number. I'm gonna take a look at 1.1.2 for a file like LL/A, and if it does, then i'd assume this file has to do with the Apps.

We're getting closer!

Great, I'll go check it out too! Gosh, at the rate were going, Almighty Steve Jobs may need to have a new keynote soon for 1.1.4 to unlock this whole mess:D

I had the iPhone apps on my computer from 1.1.2, and inside of the Weather.app and the Notes.app, I see "CFB" constantly repeated. Could this have a correlation with "LLB"?

I'm not sure what exactly CFB means, but it can't have anything to do with LLB, since LLB isn't required for the stuff in 1.1.2.

Excellent work, my co-workers are getting back to me tomorrow and they said that so far they have some good news, so when i see them tomorrow i will have something positive. Other than that im still digging away at those receipt files.

another random hacking idea, edit the firmware to install the installer....

could that be done?

man i'm tired of people complaining sayin "just buy the update, you cant get away from it".. Well why wont you pay me 20$ so I CAN buy the update. Either that or we find a way to get them free and then i'll shut up"

I think you have it backwards. Why are you promoting piracy? I don't think that's allowed here. Also, you can already get them for free... get 1.1.1 and jailbreak it. Next: Who are you to say "pay me $20 or I'll get it for free" that's the most retarded thing I've heard all day. We're not going to give you money and we're also not going to give you the Apps. So, basically you're the only one who is complaining about NOT buying the Apps... everyone else is complaining about buying them.

If I had to guess I would say you guys are wasting your time...

Do you remember when people tried to get games on to their 5th gen ipods... Ya, that didn't work so well. If the update is tied to your account, then you are pretty much SOL.

That is what we are trying to figure out that if that tie is needed in order for the software to work. If it is not and the information is just there then we maybe able to use it to learn how it access the ipod to open the file system.
