Wow, a Firefox version that is actually Mac friendly. I love it!!

I downloaded FF3 at work for my Windows PC and at home for my Mac. There is actually a visual style difference and I have to say Windows got the shaft this time around. FF3 on Mac just owns.

I agree 100% FF3 looks so much better on the mac than FF2. Will definitely be staying with FF3 at least until FF4 which one hopes will be even AWESOME'ER

Why do I get this inconsistency between the color of the top of the window and the toolbar? I don't see it in any of the screenshots I see.

well, you shouldn't see that at all.
does it happen all the time?

Yeah, just restarted it a couple times, same problem. I have 1Password, but I'm not sure why that would do anything.

you have likely still some files from an UNO installation - http://gui.interacto.net/

look here:
/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxxx.default/chrome/
and a userChrome.css file and a toolbar.gif image are likely there

remove then these files

I am thoroughly impressed by Firefox 3. I had switched to Safari from Firefox 2, but now I've just switched back to Firefox.

The main reasons I'll be using Firefox 3 from now on are:
  • Wonderful look and feel that now rivals Safari
  • Support for thousands of add-ons, which is the deal breaker that kills Safari
  • Dramatically improved performance over Firefox 2 that now rivals Safari

Well done Mozilla team!

IE team's cake arrived at Mozilla HQ.
IMAG0073.jpg

That's really nice of them. That cake looks delicious except the "e". :p

EDIT: Just saw on ars that this has become a tradition...this cake at least is much better than last times...although it seems that its much smaller this time...lol

The "e" is getting bigger this time around, compare to the one they sent bac in 2006 when firefox 2 released
ieffoxcake.jpg

is the "e" edible this time? It looks a bit cardboardish...

EDIT: Oh and I have downloaded firefox on five computers. One on my mac, one on my desktop, one on my dad's laptop, forced on on my friend's, and finally, one on my boot camped XP (does that count?)

Firefox 3 is definitely very zippy! It even makes Flash more tolerable on a G4.

Firefox 3 = 2 dock bounces
Safari = 3 dock bounces

So far so good, Mozilla. Thanks!

Do Mozilla send Microsoft a cake? :)

Also, surely the world record for downloads will be held by Microsoft, whenever they push software out via Windows update?

Or is this voluntary downloads that are being counted for this world record?

Safari is noticeably slower and its tabbed browsing is awful. Firefox 3 is awesome. Not a problem yet knock on wood.

Not for me. Tab browsing in Safari is waay more seamless especially the moving around of tabs and overall speed of both browsers is pretty much the same for me

I have found a few bugs already.

I use www.logmein.com to remote control Macs and PC from my Mac on a daily basis. (BTW its a great FREE product) Anyhow there is a Mac plugin to speed up the remote control speed from logmein.com, it works great in Safari, hangs FF3 and rails both cores in my macbook to 100%, I have to kill off FF3. This has been a problem since I started messing with FF3 at Beta 2.

Lots of little page render problems on the Mac versions. For instance www.teamxbox.com has a black toolbar across the top. On Safari, FF3 for Windows and IE even, it covers up the "Contact US" and the end of the toolbar which is correct, but not so with FF3 on the Mac. To many little render problems to mention, none show stoppers but it just makes the product look less polished.

The flip4Mac media player plugin for OSX, works great in Safari but is missing the control buttons (start/stop) at the bottom left of a media player enable web page. http://xboxmovies.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/7109/Battlefield-Bad-Company-Run-Wild-Trailer/ blame it on the plugin, but its been a problem on all pages that have media player embedded since FF3 B2. Works just fine in Safari.

Sadly this is the worst. I have a .mac account and host a simple photo web page created in iWeb 08 up on my .mac account. The photo page wont display my photo albums under FF3 for OS X or Windows. Works fine in Safari and IE.

That is enough for me to stick with Safari. I really wanted it to be my main browser, its fast and looks good. Hopefully these issues will be fixed with some new plugins and some bug fixes.

Here's to Safari 4.

Ahh another bug. Managing my domains at godaddy, the edit buttons are missing from the DNS app. Fine in Safari and IE

I have only downloaded Firefox 3 a hour and a half ago, but I knew in the first ten minutes that I definitely prefer this compared to Firefox 2. I love love love the "Awesome Bar!" I always hated typing in the part of the URL to get where I wanted to go in Firefox 2. Now, all I have to know is the page title. Proper! I managed to get to my blog by just typing in whim. Plus the bookmarking features are golden perfection -- just love love love throughout.

Yep got mine too. I actually got two. :p

One that says Watabou and one that says my real name.

Here's the watabou one:

I download 3 copies, one for my office MB, one for my EEE(XP) and desktop vista, one for my Mac mini's Ubuntu.
