Who is going to confirm it, and what makes you think any of these links may or may not count anyway?
How do we know to trust mirror sites and do we know that counts for the "record"?
im currently using firefox 3 on xp im not happy with the design i like firefox 2's design better i hope i find a nice skin for firefox 3 but i have to tell you its blazing fast!

It will be done automatically, you won't have to do anything at all. Those things are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox and the new Firefox will read the old Firefox's files just fine.
Just replaced /Applications/Firefox.app with the new one and you're good to go.
I now remember reading that mozilla has a device on their server that automatically picks a mirror for firefox3 to be downloaded from which is done through there server so it still counts you if you download it that way.
Windows version is the release candidate unless they did not change the welcome page yet.
To make sure your download will BE COUNTED download it from this page: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord/
If you download it anywhere else, like direct links or FTP links, it WILL NOT COUNT toward the record!
Spreadfirefox.com is currently having some issues at the moment, most like due to the massive amount of people trying to download it. The demand is probably far too much. I'm going to keep checking it to see if it starts working again.
