thx partyfart, but the silence has crawled into this thread :) the americans must be having nightmares by now

I have nightmares whether i'm asleep or awake... i can't take it anymore! :)

All this for a computer! Dang you apple.

Ok, I have a small update for the Belgium or Benelux people..

But it can also apply to others.

Today, I went personally to Apple Benelux in Brussels. Explained my situation as a student wanting his 2.5 via a reseller before my school year starts. (15th september)

She told me:

At this moment even they had NO CLUE when they arrive. They have a current shipping date for Belgium saying September 1st. BUT: she said that that was not sure at all. Normally it is, but it could be later also.

Then, she also said that IBM is the only reason. They simply cannot follow the demand. (basically, all other causes can be trown away)

Now comes something interesting wich I found weird:

She said that they also have A LOT of backorders on the 1.8 and 2.0 and that IBM first tries to get rid of those backorders and then continues to make the 2.5

Apperantly, they don't make all those processors at the same time.. It's like, this week the 1.8, next week the 2.0 and then 2.5 ?????

It would explain a lot ofcourse, but I do not understand that.. I always thought that they make a G5 and test how fast it can handle, and then sort in a 1.8, 2.0 or a 2.5 category..

thx Ge4-ce, so basically, we're sure we'll have to wait until the first 2 weeks of september until we get ours... niiiice, only 3 months of ordering time.

My audi a3 model 2004 was ready in a little less than two months.. I know, it's a car..but still

If this is true, i'll eat my hat. Damn you Apple. Making plans to run outside and yell as hard as i can :( So frustrated now

Sorry folks...

Yep, an Apple tree only blossoms once a year. Then, when the apples ripen and fall, that's it till next year.

And we ain't just talking about fruit!

(learned my lesson last time when I pre-ordered in June of 03' and they weren't shipping till mid-September...)

Cider anyone?

Well if it makes you feel any better, my friend at Fishkill has told me the guys he knows in the G5 fac are going insane.

"No more G5's... Oh god please no more G5's..."

They've been working their asses off it appears.

It would make a lot of sense i guess. It seems as if these "large" shipments of 2.5s are coming every 3 weeks. First 7/30. Now 8/20. Next mid-Sept.

I'm hoping that this next shipment is larger than the first and some resellers get a piece of the action. I guess its looking less and less like that will happen. I'm still keeping the faith til friday.

Is there any way to make sure i have a happy guy making my 2.5? I don't want one of those disgruntled guys doing it :D

Still shipping with 10.3.4?

So are the 2.5s still shipping with 10.3.4 now that 10.3.5 is out? I'm hoping they are as I need to run Pro Tools on this machine and I've read reports that there is an issue with Pro Tools and 10.3.5.

I ordered late July from MacMall so I'm hoping that they don't make the switch to shipping with 10.3.5 by the time my machine ships. Does anyone know how Apple usually handles this?

7/9??? You've gotta be sh*tting me. I placed an order thru ADC on 6/11.

Has Apple completely forgotten about Developer orders?

tyson apple store has em

From videan @ macnn forums :

dual 2.5 on hold for me at the apple store, they have them in stock

what to do, what to do

I think I am going to buy it, and just upgrade the vid card later, I am tired of waiting

btw, this is the Tysons corner store, so get them while you can!

supply can't be that bad right? if apple store has them, while pre-orders are still awaiting them?

Hello

He every one, I'm new to this form. I just wanted to say, that I think it is odd that my order for a Dual 2.5 with a 6800 ultra still says est. ship date on or before 8/31. But i just went to the apple store and for fun placed a order for a stand alone 6800 ultra card and it says est. ship date in September. Does this mean i will not get my dual tell sept. That would suck..........

Welcome to the forum Pugh, first off, their hasn't been shipping a single G5 with a 6800 card in it. And it's true that when you order a seperate 6800 card it states "September". But that's probably because they have a backorder for these to put in dual 2.5 orders, so I wouldn't worry to much about that. On the other hand, apple said the 6800 cards wouldn't ship until late august, so you migth have to wait a week or 2 until you get him. Hell, people who ordered a stock 2.5 an hour after intro didn't receive theirs as of yet, others have, but yours will probably be around end august, begin september.. sorry, but we are all in the same boat as you..

STATS REPORT: 8-16 am edition

I'm moving to 3 reports a day this week through Friday.

14 (11%) -- Pending deliveries before Aug 20
55 (41%) -- Orders with est. delivery "on or before" Aug 20
31 (24%) -- Orders with est. shipping dates after Aug 20

Curious about where your order is compared to 174 others? Dowload the excel spreadsheet and take a look.

No new non-USA shipping announcements found this morning. So a good part of the world has already passed through most of Tuesday without shipping notices.

The only exception being ONE previously announced 8-13 shipping date from Holland that has now slipped to 9-3. I believe that may be the news for many of those expecting a dual 2.5 by 8-20.

10 of 14 pending orders have shipping dates of 8-16 or earlier. Of those 10, 7 have not reported that their dual2.5 has shipped.

BAZILFAWLTY 8/13
HUSTON 8/13
HAUNEBU 8/14
SNOWDOG 8/15
DONALD FLEMING 8/16
WHOOKAM 8/16
GECKOHD 8/16

I'll report again before and after my performance tonight.

Bottom line.....a quiet day on the shipping front today means we would have to see an average of over 18 announcements per day Wed Thur AND Fri.

Thanx for the reply Klaus, I just called Apple and talked to the Manager in charge, I asked if indeed my Mac would ship on or before the 8/31 ship date, or will it or could it be pushed into september. She said that it will ship before the 8/31 date. She said that it will not be pushed into sept. She said the est. ship dates rifgt now are all set. That sounds pretty good to me that they are doing fine now. I ordered a dual 2.5 with the 6800 ultra, 4gigs of ram, airport ext.,bluetooth. and I have 2 75gig 10,000rpm western digital hard drives to put in it.

solo-act : those 2 on your list that got one through their reseller, is that an indepent reseller, or an official apple store? And did they pre-order one, or just walked into the store and bought one because they had them in stock?

thx

You'll have to search for their usernames with the search function above then hit their profile, then select "find all post by ____" for the most accurate info.

From what I can remember, neither one was an apple store. THe first one PHILLY MJS actually worked for a very big reseller I think, and the second GIVES I don't recall.

You can always reinstall Panther and apply the Combo 10.3.4 update if you need to. Inconvenient, but not impossible.

Or maybe by the time you get your G5, they will have fixed the protool issues. (Maybe Tiger will be out by then. :) )

Don't even joke like that! :)

Everyone certainly wants to make sure that a happy person is working on their G5. Also preferably not made on a Monday.

The August 31st is very close to September. They are probably just making sure people who ordered the 6800 back when it was released gets it before someone who ordered it today... but you never know with Apple these days.
