i think at this point i'd willingly give up atleast one....maybe both...of my testicles just to have the release of getting the machine (or just KNOWING when it will come). the anticipation is so bad for my heart.

I opted for plastic over aluminum too. The brilliant savings rebate says it must be postmarked by the 26th of July. I wonder if they would extend that if I don't get my machine by then... anyone talked to apple about that?

Did your cinema display ship yet? I got mine a couple of weeks ago. At least they didn't make me wait for the part of the order that has been on the market for over a year.

For your sake, I hope you get your machine before you hawk your testies. I doubt they're worth as much as a G5 anyway.

What harm could it do to post a picture of a lable on the card board box for the new dual 2.5's....

I do not doubt you... however it makes NO business sense to hold inventory!~ If the product is in a box, in a store - it is ready to ship.... not like they can fix any bugs at that point - inventory is a liability/cost on the accounting books so it would not make sense to let it sit un-sellable for two+ weeks. Send a picture or get the company CFO to explain why they would sit on inventory and still claim to follow GAAP policies.

I hate to say it, but they did arrive about 2 weeks ago, and we havn't been able to move them. Of anyone wants to walk into our store, pm me for more info, you could walk out with a new 2.5 G5! No kidding.

I have the G5 2.5 on order with the NVIDA 6800 graphics card and my Estimated Ship date is on or before: 07/30/2004

I ordered my computer about 5 days after it was announced, and then upgraded to the newer NVIDA graphics card shortly after they were announced. When I called the apple store to change my order for the NVIDA graphics card they told me that I had to cancel and replace my order, however I have previously ordered the older 23 in display and had already received it. This is where things got tricky. To use the rebate/discount that came with my display I had to have ordered the computer before a certain date or something (sorry, for being vague, my I don't quite remember what it exactly was) so the guy I was talking to on the phone had to get his supervisor to give the "ok" to not cancel my order, but rather upgrade it.

So, everything worked out, and I managed to keep my previous estimated ship date. I'm afraid though that the ship date isn't really realistic, because didn't steve say the new NVIDA cards wouldn't ship until mid-late august? If that's the case then there's 0% chance that my ship date is correct. Am I maybe missing something here, or not remembering something correctly?

your vid card is holding you up, not the system. NOte the pictures posted have an ATI 9600 in them or even the nVidia 5200 or whatever the low end one is. the ATI 9800 and nV 6800 take up two slots due to the cooling on them

Yup, I ordered a Dual 2.5 with CTO Bluetooth today and delivery is quoted as on or before 8/24/04. I wish they would include Bluetooth as standard or make it user upgradeable like Airport!

i did, they said not to worry that they'd still honor it. hope that helps. i called htem twice and got the same answer from two different people who checked with supervisors.

i'm doubtful that this is true. who would be the ones getting their machines? i ordered mine the day of release and nothing has changed in my order status. i'm not necessarily expecting to be one of the first to get one, just curious as to WHO is actually getting them if this claim is true.

I have the G4 generation plastic Cinema Display and by all means it's a beautiful monitor in many ways... but being so limited as far as adjustability can really get annoying after a while. The new aluminum enclosures, in my opinion, are better because of their thin bezel and small footprint. having that would make properly positioning two monitors a breeze. For me, turning the four inch gap between my monitors into a one inch gap would be a dream...

thats just how I feel... never hard feelings.

Unless we hear the first people shouting they got a shipping confirmation, it is indeed hard to believe they are already shipping them.

On the other hand, the guys who got their display this day, also mentioned a shipping date " on or before 28/7", so you can't really tell anything with that date..

It seems strange that they have popped up in one place and no one else seems to have seen any. I wonder if Apple just wanted to ship a few at the same time as the displays or if a few just sneaked out.

Mine should arrive Friday 16th..

The reseller got confirmation that their units would arrive thursday 15th and that mine would be shipped to me right away.

I guess it all depends on WHERE you ordered one..

I think Apple devides all available units into percentages.. for example:

70% goes to Apple (store and onlinestore)
30% goes to resellers

If you bought at a reseller, you could be lucky like me, and get yours right away when the first shipment rolls out.

If you bought at the applestore, you're in a list. And only the first ones get theirs. the others have to wait.

Just stick some number on it to justify what I'm telling.. imagine there are 100 PM 2.5 shipping, that would give 70 to apple, and maybe 1 to my local reseller. but at applestores, 7000 people ordered a PM and at the local reseller, I was the first!

Then again, from that 70 applestore guys who got theirs, only 1 will come to these forums to say his one arrived..

I need a faster cpu for Mathematica. Right now it would be nice to solve these nonhomogeneous partial differential Bessel functions so I can precisely see the nondispersive wave propagation of a circle. My poor little G4 takes a while to compute the associated Eigenvalues.

I did laugh when I read that, but I still can't work out why ...

Personally, I'd settle of owning a 2.5 for sheer Geek points ahead of my peers ... they will all crumble in my mighty shadow ...

Perhaps Jobs will provide more concrete evidence of the 2.5 deliveries in his Q&A quarterly results shindig. But perhaps not.

Trying not to get my hopes up... but i just checked clubmac and although it still says my 2.5 is on backorder, it list a ship date of 7/14/04... keeping my fingers crossed... and i'll keep you all informed.
