I ordered over the phone from the Apple Store for Education. Had the 7/30 ship date, then 8/20. Got an email from Apple last weekend saying that they were trying to process my order but my over-protective bank told them to pound sand. Got that resolved and it's been radio silence ever since.

Actually, I'm in the odd position now where I kind of hope I don't get a shipping notice until closer to the 20th. After three weeks of waiting, I'm headed down to Jamaica on Monday for a week and a half business trip (I know that sounds fun, but I'll just be enjoying the insides of lots and lots of Jamaican conference rooms). At this point, I really don't want to get that shipping notice tomorrow that says my new baby arrives on Tuesday. I think I would have to swim home...

Let's see, the other obligatory information... I ordered a 23" Cinema HD display which came last week and looks beautiful in its box. (My current Macs, a 450 Mhz G4 and a 550 Mhz Powerbook, don't have the gumption to actually run it, though.) Apple beat their ship date on that one by about two weeks.

I'm not mad at Apple. I've been doing this for too long, and I know the drill. Still, this is the first time I've ever bought the "top of the line" -- in the past, the middle machine has always seemed like the better deal.

I have been enjoying everyone else's triumphant shipping stories. If I wasn't out of town next week, I'd ask my fellow Atlantan, jdhuskey, for visitation rights.

LeonPro - I feel for you, man. That's just wrong. I think you did the right thing getting the AppleCare, though. Hopefully, the repair person will be a 21-year old Swedish girl with killer cheekbones and a delicate touch with a soldering gun...

My machine came from Shenzhen, and it isn't stock -- it's CTO, Radeon 9800XT.

Ge4-ce, when did you place your order and what is your expected ship date? I'm real curious because I was about 2 clicks away from ordering the nVidia 6800 card before I changed my mind!

Well actually, I just ordered the stock model 2.5 dualie, 512 Ram, 160gb 9600XT, no bluetooth, no airport, with 8xsuperdrive.

I order via a distributer and seperatly ordered 4 gigs of extra ram from kingston (allready arrived weeks ago) and I also ordered the 6800 card seperatly wich will leave me with a 9600XT to sell to someone (hint hint)

I went through a lot of date changes, but currently:

G5 should arrive 8/25th
6800 should arrive 8/11th

But I doubt that the card will arrive on that date.

I hope the G5 arrives sooner, and that is a good possibility, because when they get some machines at techdata (distributer) I'm one of the first to get one. Their date is just to put something on the net.. it's not accurate. Well, it's only accurate the day it shippes.

It's obviously not true, that they are only sending out stock machines from china, cause almost everybody i saw in here, had some modification made to it..

does apple don't know what they ship, or are their sources not reliable enough?

Thought i might as well add my config to this list of expectation. I received a "reaffirming" on or before Aug 20th shipping date. I just don't understand how you can preannounce a machine and not be able to build sufficient stock in 2mths to be able to meet the majority of your preorders without some major screw up.

If they hadn't finished the machines at the time of announcement they shouldn't have announced them

I think it's great that we are keeping up with everyone's order, but the posts have kinda gotten out of control. All of the non-list posts get lost in the vast "still waiting wasteland". If you guys would like, I can create a little webpage that lists everyone's order and current ship date. If you want me to, let me know and instead of adding yourself to the list via the forum just email me with the addition.

EDIT: I have posted a little table with the dates and users on the waiting list. If you guys want me to I will add the information and any subsequent users who want to be added to the list. I will make it look a little prettier later.
