Dual 2.5GHz PowerMacs Shipping

Ordered 6/28 -- Due 8/20

FYI: I ordered my dual 2.5 on 6/28. It's almost stock -- I got it without the modem, and added Final Cut Express for $99. I still have 8/20 listed as my date (after having been 7/30).

In anticipation of receiving it the first part of Aug., I had ordered an additional 2GB of RAM from TransInt'l. I've got the RAM - and it's lonely without its G5 home !!!!!

I can't wait to dump this B&W G3/400 I'm using!!! (upgraded with a G4/500)

I ordered:
Dual 2.5, stock Ram, stock video (9600XT), no modem, and added blue-tooth. I ordered from the EDU store on 6/12.

I received the initial ..going to ship on or before 8/20 on 7/30 and have not heard from them since.

A few weeks back they temp authorized the purchase on my account, took it away, put it back, authorized it, took it way, and now nothing.

What the F is going on?!

...its a US order (NJ)

It sounds very similar to the response that sandy posted. in fact, i've often wondered if Mac/PCMall and ClubMac where in fact the same company. They have the exact same pricing and their websites look very similar. I wonder if they are sharing a single shipment or if they are each getting their own...

Guess we'll find out soon enough :)
 
Well, my unit finally arrived today!

I was in the shower when the door bell rang. By the time I got to the door the driver was gone! BUT, he left the G5. Wheeeew. FedEX NEVER leaves anything by me without a signature. Must have been a new driver. I should call FedEX now and ask them where my computer is. :D Anyway, I unpacked it, took one picture of it and my camera went dead! I'm charging the batteries to take more. :) I pulled the Raptor drive out of my dual 1.8GHz, slid it in the new unit, fired it up and it works perfect. :) I thought I might have had to install this build of 10.3.4 that ships with them. The sound of the fans are about the same as my 1.8G. Maybe a tad lower at full power. The 160G Maxtor hard drive is a lot quieter than the 160G Seagate in the 1.8G. CPUs run a lot hotter (134F .vs 116 F) along with the U3 heatsink (163F .vs 139F). Drive bay is about the same (86F). One interesting thing I noticed, I went to put the unit in my G5 Caddy and it wouldn't fit! I got my ruler out and the case on the 2.5GHz is 1/4 wider than my 1.8G! Well, I got the saw out (sawed the caddy, not the G5 :D ) and took care of that problem. Fits now! Must be because of the cooling system and radiator. Well, I will be doing a full review at G5support.com after I do some more testing. Here's hoping the rest of you people waiting for your units, GET THEM SOON! I'm sure you will be VERY HAPPY with them! :)

I've been following this thread since post #1, i've just been too lazy to register on macrumors until now. I have not heard from apple since the 7/30 email, so I wonder when I'll be getting my "everything is still waiting" email that people seem to be getting today. One other thing about my order is that I did it over the phone with the apple EDU store, if that makes any difference.

Ordered 6/30. Original date was 7/30 then received email of 8/20 then fup email of the mistake and would receive on 8/2.Date came and went no machine, no ship date, nada. Spoke to Apple Rep stated that order was mistakenly not sent. I have been put on the expedited list and accroding to the Supervisor who I have been working for said that it should be going out 8/9ish.... It seems that 8/9 is supposed to be another BIG shipment from CA. Who knows at this point.
 
This may be a little off topic, but I'm finally looking to replace my 1 button mac mouse with a new multi-button scroll whell mouse.

I've been reading all sorts of reviews and have narrowed it down to either the Logitech 310 or the Logitech 500 (cant use the 510 because i'm lefty).

My concerns are that some people say the 310 is too small for their hands and others say that the 500 is too big (I feel a bit like Goldie Locks, with the expception of being a 30 year old man instead of a little blonde girl). Does anyone have any experience with these, or any other mice, that they would recommend to accompany my eagerly anticipated 2.5. My primary uses are graphic design, editing and a little gaming here and there.

I ordered my G5 from Comp USA in Delaware on July 1st (this way I pay no sales tax). I had it BTO dual 2.5, 250GB HD, 9800XT, airport and bluetooth modules. I went up yesterday and the guy that ordered it said that they should be receiving it in a week or two. Apparently, Apple sent him a ship date and everything is ready to go, so I hope it really will be on the way very soon!

www.macmice.com has a spiffy corded 2 button w/scroll AND in september they are coming out with a Bluetooth model. You should check it out!

ordered -june25.

they pushed me to 8/20 then sent me an email this past wed saying next 48 hrs then the order status site said CANCELLED and pushed to 9/17 then I called apple and was told it was actually shipping and THEN - it shipped. i have a tracking number and it's in ye olde china.

again, I ask, does ANYONE else see the irony that the worlds 'best' computer company with the 'best' OS can't keep track of orders, shipping etc...the thing the world MADE computers to do.

anyways - just letting you know that 'batch 2' is going. hope we are ALL in that damn batch! this has been agonizing.

Actually, agonizing is ordering on june 28th like myself (or rather june 9th like many people) and still not having a shipping notice. You had to wait a grand totall of 11 days for it to ship. If that's agonizing then you live a sorry life.

Couldn't even play back 2 tracks without skipping no matter how much tweaking I did. I installed DP4 and opened up one of my projects--32 tracks, some comps, but I have no 3-rd party plugins for OS X yet. Not a hitch at all. Everything is very responsive, no annoying (long)pause when arming tracks/inserting plugins. Very happy so far..

How loaded up of a song can you go with plugins. I'd love to know when you get some 3rd party puppies. Since Unicornation has gone down there has not been a GOOD DP site. OSX Audio's site is alright but does not have the feel of the Unicornation site.

Plus my tons of posts are no longer there. :(

I am DP 4.12 in OS X on my Lowly Dual 867 and Love it. :) I hope my expansion chassis with my UAD's and stuff will work well :) As I do plan to go 2.5 in about a month. Figger it will be a while before I have to upgrade again. At least 3 years :)
 
I put my order in for a stock Dual 2.5 from Amazon.com on July 2nd due to the 150$ rebate that was offered if you ordered between July 2 - Aug 1. It is not a manufacturer's rebate, so it will be honored regardless of when it arrives at my doorstep. When I called to find out what was going on with shipping and the status of the rebate they were kind enough to give me free overnight shipping for my trouble. Right now they estimate Sept 2nd for shipment. This date is only put in as a 'placeholder', they really do not know when to expect shipment since Apple is so tight lipped about shipments. But I figure with the rebate, free shipping, and no sales tax (cough) that I'm looking at about 450-500$ in my pocket that can be spent on other amenities like more RAM, wireless keyboard and mouse, etc. I'm glad that others have received their shipments. This way if a problem crops up, I will be able to cancel the order if need be and wait for the second revision! ;) Welcome to the Apple right of passage! The waiting, the wondering, the grinding and gnashing of teeth! :p

Sequences I did in DP OS9 on my old 9600 with patch changes inserted (that work) don't result in the same patch change happening in Logic. I troubleshot all the MSB & LSB commands & Logic sends out a completely different set than the Proteus manual has or DP (which coincide BTW) confusing.

DP has been running darn near flawlessly for me. I use it with a Mackie Control and 3 EXT's. Like being in heaven
