Dual 2.5GHz PowerMacs Shipping

My wife has been concerned with my G4 purchased September 1st 2000, afraid that it will die on me at any time. When did you purchase yours in 1999? Have you done any upgrades? Mine is the same as I purchased except a memory upgrade. How well has it performed?

hotwire132002, I'm very sorry that I didn't post your photo's. It wasn't on purpose, I was looking for yours also. I hope hope that you can forgive me. :(
 
As I stated earlier, my order from 6/10 was originally one of the 7/30 dates moved to 8/20 and today cancelled and moved to 9/21, causing me to have a heart attack. After several calls to Apple, I learned from a Supervisor that my order was moved to another facility to "expedite" shipping and that the 9/21 date was because the order was moved and wasn't correct. Supposedly, I'm still in line from 6/10 date and should still receive computer on or BEFORE 8/20. Sure hope the info was correct, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Take me off that list, I got bump to 8/20. I'm not overly mad at Apple but if they don't make that date I will be canceling my order, and returning the 23" monitor. Maby I'll get one of the new iMac's till next year when PowerMacs will be at or above 3.0

Okay, "The List" is back up.... mostly. If you have already added you're entry then you can edit yours (I have done a few things to make that a little easier for everyone). There are two new fields: Est. Shipping and State/Country. It would be great if those of you who have already added your entries could enter this information as it may be more helpful in discovering trends.

Hi wd,

No problems with my G4. The hard drive died towards the end of the first year and Apple installed a new one...no charge.

Over the past month it has started to get gradually louder though (fans). More memory added to my system and also OS X. What makes your Wife think it will die at any time?

So it ends up that our hard drives the about the same age. My fan and HD has made a lot of noise from the beginning. She said that is what she is concerned about. Very kind just dosen't want me to be without a computer.

I count 36 orders with est ship dates of "on or before 8-20"...127 total orders....and ONLY 4 est shipping dates between Aug 11 and Aug 19.

Essefgy, have you posted pics yet of you shiny new G5? If you haven't I would REALLY like to see it's back. I didn't get a modem either I just want to see what it looks like from the back. I know I'm weird... and this post sounds a little perverted.. and it's late.... woah, okay bed for me! ;)

I just received an email from Apple that my G5 is SHIPPING!!

Ordered on the first day, 9th of june, through Apple Store Sweden.

1GB Ram, BT, combo drive, no modem.

From the email it looks like it's shipping from Ireland.

Hmmm my possible shippingdate from the distributor in Belgium went from august 25th to september 1th!!

I need this sucker to make some movies for school!!!! I start school 3rd week of september but like to test it first! imagine it is DOA, then I'm in real deep ****!!!

you at least would think that if you order 2 months ahead, you would get it in time... nope, not at all!
 
Shipping now in the UK!

Have just received an email from Apple UK & have spoken to them on the phone.

3 x std configs, ordered 1st June, ship date Sunday 8th, with us within 48 hrs...

Edit: Just to clarify, we had an existing standing order for 3 x dual 2ghz going way back which we upgraded within hours of hearing about the 2.5's. So I'm getting a bit confused about dates...

I haven't received an e-mail from Apple, but their web site now shows that my 2.5 GHz G5 has SHIPPED, and I have a tracking number (which, unfortunately, is not yet in FedEx's system).

So, it does look real... Wow.

My reseller is still hoping for the 16th but says he'd be supprised if it does come by then!
