Well, this is a little OT, but I just wanted to share since I've been faithfully following this thread from the beginning... just pulled the trigger on a Stock Dual 2.5 G5 (will add 3 GB Crucial RAM) + a 23" Display (gift from husband) and Apple Care.

Est. Delivery Date is Sept 21st .... but if the NH store has any when I'm up there at the end of August I may just pick one up.

I figured that since the Retail Availability was so flaky, at least this way I will definitely have one by October!

If you just ordered it seems you may receive it before those of us who ordered it back in June... :confused:

Order Status Number?

I know this came up in earlier posts...but I'm stuck on a dial-up connection so it takes forever to scan the pages.

Isn't there a number that you can call to receive information about your order? Whether it's being built, etc.? If so, what is it? I'm anxiously awaiting my 2.5 G5, and hoping to get it before I leave for college.

Order moved AGAIN

I have order placed a 8:54am on June 10th.
Educational order, personal.
250 GB, 9800 XT w 256 Ram, 1 Gig RAM, Bluetooth
Original ship date 7/30, then 8/20, now 9/21.
I received NO email notification. Just happened to check my order status this morning and the bad news appeared. It's really a mystery to me how screwed up Apple seems to be.
Apple supervisor says order was moved to another manufacturing location to "expedite" its delivery. If that's the case I wish they would quit trying to expedite my order.
 
I just checked the my order status on the Apple Store web site, and my estimated ship date is NOW on 09/21/2004! I ordered at 6:36AM PST on June 9th!!!

I called Apple and complained and was going to cancel the order, when some supervisor checked and said it was in final assembly and would ship out today for a delivery on Wednesday, 8/11 (I paid for FedEx 2-day). He apologized and said the web site status is unreliable... Great.

I'll believe it when I see the FedEx tracking number, but I'm hopeful. If the 9/21 ship date was true, I'd have had little choice but to cancel and get a slower G5 if available (they are in short supply as well) or else get a fast Windows system (ugh...).

Houston, does your order show up as "CANCELLED" today, with a new order in a more compact format (like "2.5DPG5/1GB/250/SD/R9800XT/56K/BT-USA" instead of a long list of individual parts)? If so, perhaps your order is similar to mine and is being assembled now? My credit card has shown a ~$4,000 pre-authorization for several days now, as well...

Um.... my order is reporting teh same thign too! But no authorization has been applied to my credit card. I will call Apple later and ask what the deal is. If they are really delaying my order (since my credit card hasn't been charged) and are not shipping it until 9/21, I will not be too happy... to say the least.

They better start shipping another batch soon. They have a ton of orders to fulfull for 08/20/2004 and they only have 9 business days left. I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this 08/20/2004 estimated shipping date, unless I see some new shipping notices.
 
I know about the Web Order Status page, but like danhaupt said, it isn't very informative.

I've seen posts from people saying they called a number and were told it was being built, or was going to be shipped soon, etc...all of that information is more than what appears on the web status page.

What's the number I can call?

I ordered on 6/12 and still have the 'ol 8/20 date. I am pretty sure that if I can bumped to 9/21 I will cancel. Even worse I bought an HP printer when I bough the stupid G5 because there was supposed to be a rebate. Guess what?! You can't use the rebate until you actually receive the computer and the date to send in the rebate has come and gone. THANKS APPLE.
 
I also never received an e-mail stating the new 9/21 shipping date. Apparently the e-mails are more reliable than the web site.

Houston, we ordered the exact same configuration, and we both ordered right away (6/9 for me, 6/10 for you). Hopefully your G5 will ship this week as well.

I'll let you all know if mine actually does ship today as promised, and I'll post my tracking info as well if anyone is interested. I'm taking off the day of delivery and the next 2-3 days as well for my summer vacation (my first summer vacation in several years)! I've already been approved to take off for a week following my G5's delivery, whenever that is. It's nice to have an understanding supervisor.

If this is an Apple rebate, which it sounds like, I'd call Apple and see if they will still honor the rebate. Alot of times they will - especially in this case since they were the cause of the delay. Just give them a call and politely state your case and ask them.

Unless your using a differant rebate, the current HP $99 rebate is still in effect.

"Purchase a Mac and an HP DeskJet printer, an HP Photosmart printer, or any HP all-in-one product between June 27, 2004, and September 25, 2004 — and get up to $99 back by mail."
 
Dose the credit autherization mean anything? Today my Apple-loan has a $3100 temp. autherization.

No, that doesn't mean much. Most of us had a credit authorization over 2 months ago. Just means Apple is checking your credit. Usuallu credit card companies refuse it and you have to phone the credit card company and then Apple.
 
I've been out of the loop for the past week, so my apologies for not reading the 1900+ posts.

But have any ADC orders been shipped???

Last I checked I was pushed back till 9/03, and now my order status won't show up, like there's a web page error.

Anyone?...
 
Well, I have to say that I've been really bent out of shape. : (

I ordered early June and still don't have a 2.5.

Today though I was thinking about how much pleasure I've had using my G4 since 1999 instead of using a PC those years...

I'll be sitting tight until my DP2.5 G5 arrives : )

Ordered 8am 6/9 :p

Still on track for 8/20 - I so don't believe it.... but here's to optimism!

Info is from both customer service and web site... of course I'm fairly certain customer service uses the same web site! :eek:
