Hey guys, Im new to the forum and found this pic. Sorry if its a repost.
Haven't seen that one. It's just art--nothing real--but it's nicer than most speculative designs I've seen.

thinksecret has a new news post about the future imac g5, seems to be pretty close to what i was telling you all about earlier. ok finally going to bed.
I don't see anything new at TS (though they do plan keynote coverage) but your description is similar to rumors that have appeared there (and elsewhere) lately.

EDIT: I was the first to identify Yvan256's photo as an eMac box... now my post has been removed. Strange :) But the truth is out there! It's an eMac (and some guy with an Epson printer).

Reading your posts gives me a headache.

And what's with "never said n e thing"? Are you too busy to spell out words, or r u Prince?

Agreed, it drives me nuts when people use 13 year old girl language on a forum like this.

Apple.com, Software Update: Nothing new yet

So far:

1. apple.com hasn't rolled.
2. apple.com/fr hasn't rolled.
3. apple.com/imac hasn't rolled.
3. apple.com store is still up.
4. the iMac page at the store still says "announced and available in September."
5. Sofware Update isn't showing anything new.

I guess nothing's going down until 4 am East Coast -- about 2 1/2 hours from now.

Gotta be fake

Whenever there has been a real photo or drawing of an upcoming Mac product before it's released Apple is quick to threaten the site(s) with a lawsuit unless it is removed from the site immediately. I think this patent drawing must be a fake to throw us all off track. :)

Apple doesn't take action on patent images. They're public record. Stolen photos are another matter :)

G5-iMac-ad-med.jpg

Hey! Now I can compute while I'm making pasta!

C'mon, I had to make one stupid post in this thread.

I only have about 4 more hours, but I'm going to bed when I get home (at work now). I guess I'll miss the unveiling and the wailing here, when it is revealed the ThinkSecret spec were right and the new G5 iMac is shipping with such lousy graphics cards.

I'm sorry, I think the pyramid base is pretty nice looking. Arm and base look kinda scrawny next to screen, but, I see nothing wrong in the pyramid design, except that it's not all that different, not to mention that that would be OK, because the current design is very unique in it's ability, not just it's look, except that the two arms?? isn't that going to cost a lot and not work well?
Clearly, a two-part arm would have much more potential for both positioning and possible problems (pardon the alliteration). With what looks like a swivel where the monitor is mounted, as abenoboy mentioned, the two-part arm would be necessary to give the display sufficient height to turn it to the portrait orientation. Unfortunately, the extra joint does introduce much more potential for instability. Not to mention that running cables though this array would be a nightmare (sorry, I think someone else mentioned this, too). I don't know if the technology exists to make this possible at this time.

I find it interesting that the arm in these drawings would probably have a very similar range of motion to the human arm (from the shoulder to the wrist). Has Apple hired someone with a background in robotics and artificial limbs?

To me, the pyramid looks like something you'd draw in order to picture that the arm is attached to something. I'd bet my life savings that this isn't what it'll look like.

But then, that isn't much.

AHAHAHA! UH.....

The new iMac *better not* be with a pyramid base, because that's really ugly. I guess we'll see soon.

Swiss HOAX!

I know its late for most of you but im in California (Cupertino none the less) so its a little bit earlier. I'm not sure if you noticed this but with our Swiss Guard that knows so much about our new beloved iMac has one missing link. Why would they have posters hung in the venue for the expo before the keynote. So you walk in about to endure the pain (but excitement) of an Apple high-up who isnt Steve Jobs talk for 50 minutes before he finally release the new product when you sit there th ewhole time looking up at a 200 foot banner of it (like the Ipod mini banner hung the second day at MWSF.) Something is wrong here, very wrong!

I know im a Newbie but i have been reading the forums for a few months now just I have never made an account, so please hear me out!

If your staying up for the release (well hopefully, or I think we will all kill ourselves, due to lack of patience!) Good for you, I am even though im throwing up cause of the stomach flu (would that work for a coolant?)

Corey

P.S. Call me lame i read all 400+ posts on this forum!

i hope they dont change it 2 radical

i like the way it is :)

they better not put the computer on the lcd  , idk what they could do 2 improve perfection  :(

A supercomputer on your wrist...DUH!

Personally, the iMac, although very exciting and thrilling, is not what is really exiciting me right now. I want to see if there will be some BRAND NEW product that might surface. I mean, let's see, what do we know they have lying around...60gb drives, Chameleon, Tablet-like device...Now, unless all of those go into the iMac, I would hope that a brand new device is going to be released. Maybe today, maybe next month, maybe next year...But Apple has something up their sleeve. Always have, always will.

If Swissboy...

...was a swiss boy, he probably would know some german. The german remark he posted was obviously hand picked from a dictionary, or a computer translation. Let´s forget about him.

Yeah but do you really want your $2000 dollar computer hanging on a nail?
No, but I wouldn't have a problem with a few wall anchors that are large enough to handle the weight.

Why does "wall mount" equal "nail" to you?

For that kind of money, I would definitely want it professionally installed. Would still make me kind of nervous.

Do whatever makes you most comfortable, obviously, but the heaviest new iMac only weighs 25 pounds. Any wall-mount with at least four screws used to mount it will hold that weight with no difficulty whatsoever. Keep in mind that the vast majority of the force on the wall mount is down, not out, so unless you've got really bad drywall, it'd take a lot more than 25 pounds to drag four screws down the wall. The outward force is probably no more than 5 pounds, at worst.
