Since everyone is suing Apple these days, I was thinking of suing Apple in regards to their App Store.

I would like to see them adding preferences to the Apple Store where I could go directly to the UPDATES section without having to deal with the forced advertisement in the features section. LOL

So new iPhones don't have new batteries?
I only buy refurb'd Apple products, when available.

In 2015 I bought my 2014 MBP refurb and saved close to $400.
I don't need cutting edge/latest greatest for premium $$.

My 6s developed a problem after a few months & was given a refurb that looked all the world as new.
Coconutbattery app showed battery was fresh.

Some people just got to bitch....

Europe. Always focusing on the hard hitting issues.

It makes each peace of technology last longer if every manufacturer knows he has to replace faulty units for free with brand new units for two years. I don't see what is wrong with that or calling it nanny state or whining. Just don't make crappy electronics. Its pro-consumer politics.

That's extremely incorrect. But nice try.
No actually it is extremely correct. But nice try.

Refurbs have gone through a second vetting process, which New units did not. Many new units ship with defects from the factory. Known defects are addressed at the time of refurbishing.

Thanks for playing.

You can, its called 3D Touch on the App Store icon, and select Update Apps...goes right to the Update screen.

I'd say that's an overreach of the government telling a private company how to run their business, but it's Europe.

Apple's policies clearly state they will use refurbished products as replacements which is pretty standard for electronics. Other than increasing costs to businesses, I do not see how this benefits the consumer. If anything, it will just raise prices as companies must use "new" inventory for replacements and reduces the demand for apple to buy back old units for trade-ups. Higher prices and less opportunities to trade products to apple for discounts on upgrades = lose lose.

Nope, they just pass the same test as every other iPhone. You're buying stuff that was damaged and repaired.

Actually, it's been shown that refurbished devices are more reliable and trustworthy than new models because they've been looked and tested by a technician, and they come with a full new-device warranty. Really can't beat that. I think people that have a problem with this are the same type of people that would think shopping at a thrift store is "gross and dirty".

Who's fault was it that this lady broker her phone? Not Apple's. Why does Apple need to be penalized? Makes no sense.

Darn, where did derekuda gp? After making that statement I was looking forward to seeing how he would refute the spank down he's gotten from you and many others here.

What fun are these forums without one guy repeatedly defending their stupid statement simply because they cant admit they were wrong?!?

That's fine. The Netherlands wants more waste, and also wants to make Apple spend extra money because of some absurd "depreciation" as if it's a car, so just raise the price in that country and be done with it.

WTF is this about, the manufacturer/seller of a product SHOULD make it so that what they sell does not break down within a set period of time, an iPhone should last for a minimum of 2 years, if that is not the case Apple can try to fix it and if that is not possible they should provide a NEW one, not a refurb.

A remanufactured iPhone is not a refurb.

He crawled back into the hole from whenst he came. The only faulty Apple device I've ever had was an iPhone 5, bought on launch day, that had a faulty Sleep/Wake button. It was replaced by Apple before the official Replacement Program began. I was given a refurbished phone that looked as good as new, in fact there was a minor scratch to the Space Black on the launch day unit. The refurb was flawless.

Exactly. I don't understand what the issue is. If you pay your money it's not some gamble. It either works or you get your money back, or a new/replacement device.

I wonder what that posted you quoted wants?

I wonder why she cared? I've had many refurbs (which unfortunately does reflect on problems with Apple's manufacturing, particularly screens pulling away from the body) and they've never been any worse than new models.

Sounds quite wasteful.

When your dishwasher or fridge breaks down, do you demand a brand new one rather than repair it?

If so, you can look forward to Apple jacking up the prices if you live in one of those countries. You can't even tell if the remanufactured device isn't new.

Enjoy living in your nanny state (and pay for it).
