I'm not a kid anymore. As an adult, I think it's time to move on from Mario, Zelda, etc. I grew up around Nintendo. I had them all up to the Wii. They failed to cater to the people that brought them to where they are now. No young kid cares about Mario, etc these days either. It's all about COD, Gears, Halo, Uncharted, and such...

Haha what? Are you ever around kids? Pokemon, Mario, Minecraft and Yu-Gi-Oh are massive with young kids.

Do you guys not remember 2005? 360 launch, aside from CoD2 was rough. Nothing good came out until Oblivion March the next year. Or Vita (nothing) 3DS (nothing) Wii U (nothing) PS3 (nothing).

The big guns for this year, aside from GTA V, have already been let out. Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us, DMC, Tomb Raider, Crysis, Metro etc.

Next year E3 will be the OMG next-next-gen reveals.

Don't get me started on the Vita. I was going to trade it in this week but the prospect of remote play is the only thing making me keep it, but I'm tempted to trade it in and get the Animal Crossing Special Edition 3DS XL instead....

Evn e3 hasn't really convinced me that the Vita was a wise purchase.

I'm not a kid anymore.

Hah, oh wow.
I'm not a kid any more. I make console games for a living and as much as I buying the hell out of the PS4, I'm also buying up almost every first party game Nintendo will put out this+next year.

And the kids in my family, and their friends, are obsessed with Pokemon and Minecraft (even setting up their own servers. Kids these days eh!).

Those guys are on a roll! :D:D:D

I guess we'll have to just deal with it! ;)

I have no idea what's going on with them but it's SO good to watch.

Oh lads seriously if you can't learn from one major PR disaster don't just keep on digging !!!

If they continue digging they'll pop out somewhere over in japan where I'm sure their Hari-Kari will be appreciated.

Seriously Microsoft ... just STOP!

In fairness Sony got a right kicking when PS3 launched and rightly so - and look a generation later they are evidently making great strides not to fall into the same trap. Microsoft seem to have grown 'too' complacent with the success the 360 has had in America. They need to come down a peg or two.

God in a world when Microsoft are making EA look good - you know they are messing up.

More from the same interview.

http://www.vg247.com/2013/06/12/xbo...egative-always-online-outcomes-says-mattrick/

During an interview with GameTrailers he said of the stir caused by online checks, “We appreciate the passion. It’s important that people share their ideas, but people are imagining outcomes that we believe are worse than what it’s going to be like in the real world.

“When we designed the box we paid attention to what it means to connect to the internet. The average internet connection is working the majority of the day. People are imagining that it isn’t, but I don’t feel that’s the world we live in.”

Elsewhere in the discussion Mattrick confirmed that Microsoft did expect some backlash for its decision to authenticate Xbox One consoles once every 24-hours via online check-in, but he argued that people will see the benefit once they start using the console. He then added, “It’s something that when people experience it, it’s easier than having someone like me describe it.”

Yeah I really can't wait for that warm fuzzy feeling in my heart the first time my consoles checks the status of the games I bought and reports it back home...it'll be impossible to describe, one must really experience it!

:confused::eek::D

god the vita is worthless at trade in. Rang gamestop to see how much a 3G vita is worth traded in towards the animal crossing special edition 3DSXL.

Answer = €70

for something that cost me just over €300........ How far the Vita has fallen.

Still not convinced by WiiU.

Just the Wii again but with slightly better graphics.

Old new Zelda is nice, but I played that game in 2003.

I think I will pick up a U maybe next year if Mario Kart is good...hope they remove the silly power-ups (I am looking at you bullet bill, mega-shroom, blue shell).

I would love to play a Mario Kart with a good non cheating good ai where the only weapons allowed were
- Red Shells
- Green Shells
- Shrooms
- Star
- Banana

And a glorious 1v1 battle mode, non of that silly PC teamwork crud.

And while there at it, they can make a new F-Zero for teh hardcorz like meh!

And a more inventive Zelda, big-N need to take some story-telling notes from Bioshock etc.

God in a world when Microsoft are making EA look good - you know they are messing up.

One gets the feeling M$ decided they "won" back in 2008-2009 (by only looking at US sales figures), and have been sitting in board rooms and congratulating themselves ever since...meanwhile, in the rest of the world...

I also get the feeling that M$ is looking at ways to "maximize monetization" to get back as much as they can from developing the XBox, and have found willing conspirators it publishers like EA, who shamelessly try to wring every last penny from every worthless idea of theirs.

MS has not been truly honest with the gamers and consumers. They say that they will allow used-game sales "if the publisher allows it," but wait a minute...Microsoft is a publisher! What is their stance?

Well, based on my experience with Shadowrun Returns I am guessing that Microsoft is pushing DRM for their own purposes, and not coming out and owning up to it.

It kind of puts the "$" in Micro$oft, doesn't it?

So read Ayn Rand and come up with a different set of cliches? Is Zelda about the story? They usually (even the fabled OoT) have a regular story hung on a very nice centrepiece. Don't know why that would need to change.

As you say, Zelda has never been about detailed stories but I like Majoras Mask way of telling the story, from the character interactions. Its not a deep story by any stretch but its more interesting this way IMO.

considering their current attitude i think they'll end up on the floor of the ocean anyhow ;)

spot on.... Microsoft reminds me of Sony from ca 2005-2006, egos so big that they wont fit into a conference hall
IMHO i think it might be connected to the relative success in the US&UK market: With most executive officers in the company from those 2 regions i feel that their decision were somehow tainted

here in central europe the issues from the "kinect + always online" were received very, very negative in the press because of it's privacy implications.
made even worse by Microsoft being involved in the PRISM stuff... nicknames like "NSAbox" etc. are dragged through the local online communities pretty harshly
for the german language market (privacy rights sensitive) this "feature" alone could very well mean a kiss of death

at work we had guys with ps3s and xbox360s (or both) the last generation but from the talks in the break-room it will be a massacre ...
one guy talked about getting a ps3 "to get used to the different layout until" PS4 launch ... coming from somebody with 2 xbox360s and 125 games for it
it's insane

May as well keep it if that's all you're going to get. I had the same dilemma a few years ago with my PSP, I wasn't using it, nothing was on the horizon that interested me, and so it sat in a drawer not being used for ages. It was worthless to trade in and so were the games I'd bought for it. And then Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was released and I was instantly glad I hung onto it- it's one of the best games I've ever played. Something will be released for the Vita one of these days that'll make you glad that you kept it.

You may find a buyer in the Marketplace here or on eBay - Craigslist can work too - I'm sure $150 or $175 it would sell ....

It seems as though Sony and M$ take it in turns to get big heads and then be humbled.

Sony made the awesome PS and PS2 - Microsoft were humbled.

Microsoft made the awesome 360 - Sony were humbled.

Sony make the awesome PS4 - Microsoft are humbled.

Etc. etc. until one of them stops resting on their laurels.

Well didn't they just recently turn Office into a subscription service with the option to own if you only put it on one computer and was not transferable at all (like not even de-activating it on the first and activating it on another)?

MS is all about the draconic DRM and strict used software policies. And EA is claiming they actually didn't come up with it, that MS came to them, that this was MS's idea to try to get the publishers in their pocket (Though honestly I am not sure why EA bothered. Whether they are being truthful or not I don't think anyone will believe them).

Aside from Nintendo, this year's E3 didn't really impress me. In fact, I feel like I will never own an Xbox One at this point. WWDC won this week hands down! Sony, nor Microsoft could touch them.

The only things that are making me drool is Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World and Super Smash Bros!

Plus, does anyone feel like the Mac Pro cast a REALLY dark shadow over the PS4 and Xbox One? It isn't a gaming rig, but it made those systems look like a 6-core HP Pavilion AMD ;)

Haha imagine a gaming console designed like the Mac Pro a that'd be sweet!

And imagine that it'd be most probably Nintendo doing so when looking at recent console designs re: sleekness and minimal design. Fancy that with a N64 in yo closet?! :D

For sure - it'll be another 5 years before we see it - or longer

Yep a $3000 + workstation v a $399 console. That's a worthwhile analogy.

Well I put in a preorder for the PS4 at Amazon today. I figure I have up until near the release date to cancel it anyway and may as well get myself into the queue. The only reason I'd cancel it is if Sony decides to do something silly (or like... my car breaks I suppose).
