Well I put in a preorder for the PS4 at Amazon today. I figure I have up until near the release date to cancel it anyway and may as well get myself into the queue. The only reason I'd cancel it is if Sony decides to do something silly (or like... my car breaks I suppose).

Do you think eBay prices will go for $800 or something crazy this time around? Or will this be a more sane launch ?

I'm trying to make myself wait until there is actually a game I really want to play on it (vs. buying a game cause I want a game to play on it). That shouldn't be hard, FFXV or Elder Scrolls Online both could easily give me an excuse (or if they get the next Fallout or single player Elder Scrolls). I'm sure there will be one eventually, not so sure I can keep myself patient about with holding buying until then ;).

But yeah, I'm very happy with Sony. So far from what I've seen (including the February announcement), the PS3 humbled them and they've learned from their mistakes and have made a game console to address what people want (and also be very welcome to developers which I think was a huge mistake when they released the PS3).

And MS is making sure that I will not buy an xBox One, even as a second console, even if they have an exclusive I want to play. I would have been fine just being happy Sony was successful but MS is making it so I want to see xBox fail.

Do they still have them? I heard they had already sold out on initial pre-orders.

BTW: Do search for PS4 and XBox One on eBay - there are already scalpers...

I have no idea. I'm guessing if they only got 3, they'll just make a list afterwards.

There were scalpers on eBay as soon as the hardware was announced on Monday (and likely before then).

For me PS4 is the next gaming machine I'll be getting.

The games that I'm wanting to play are.

The Division
Saints Row IV
Battlefield 4
Destiny
Watch Dogs

The other games that I'm interested in.

Day Z - on the PS4 hopefully
MGS
Dead Rising 3 - on the PS4 hopefully
Theif
Payday 2
Dying Light
titanfall

Titanfall isn't coming to the PS4 (as far as they've said).
DayZ is likely coming to PS4 though.

Titanfall is a funny one. The semantics both EA & the developer are using aren't quite so adamant.

Despite EA’s exclusive dealings with Microsoft, Respawn Entertainment isn’t ruling out the possibility of a PlayStation 4 release for Titanfall.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Joel Emslie, Lead Artist at Respawn stated that the studio would like to make the game available to players everywhere—not just those on the PC and Xbox One.

“When you boil it down, we would love to be everywhere, but we’re just starting out,” Emslie explained. “It comes down to quality, not quantity. We have a fantastic relationship with Microsoft. It just boiled down to, okay, how can we hit this as hard as can and get it on as many platforms as possible and deliver the quality, the 60 hertz, out of the gate? That was the goal.

“We of course would want to go further in the future with stuff, but we’re just starting out. It’s pretty frustrating! We want to be everywhere. We want to put Titanfall everywhere, but that’s where we’re at. We’re starting there.”

When asked whether PlayStation owners would ever see Titanfall, the developer stated that it was “Definitely not out of the question.”

“We have a huge appreciation for the fans. We love all our fans, whatever console they support. So yeah. We want to make everybody happy, but this is where we’re at right now,” he said.

EA Games Label head Patrick Soderlund was more political with his response, stating that the exclusivity deal with Microsoft was a business arrangement he couldn’t really discuss. He was also reticent on conveying the possibility of releasing on other platforms.

“We haven’t communicated anything on that, and I can’t comment on that right now. We’re proud to be exclusive to Xbox,” he said.

I have a sneaky suspicion the EA deal may be a timed exclusive and as we know they are probably forbidden to say anything about other platforms or about the 'timed' part until after the game launches. I would not think EA would push a game out on any singular launch platform when financially it makes better sense to release on both..

I think next gen we're going to see more games going multiplatform, the only ones remaining exclusive will be the first and second party titles. I bet! The systems are too close in power (faster and more memory allocation for games on PS4) and identical in architecture. It'll just be licensing things keeping games off each others consoles.

I just got an email from Amazon stating they have received more "Launch Day Edition" consoles and have upgraded my order to one of those. It then also states there's no difference between them and normal orders except these are guaranteed for launch day, soooooo I don't know what the point is on that... but apparently they have enough of those even though I was a few days late to the immediate preorder group.

Circumstances permitting, I will try and get a PS4 at some point in time after it is released, but most likely not for a while after. The low price point will certainly help the cause, but I still game on my PS3 and would only be getting the PS4 for the sole reason of owning one.

You don't plan on gaming on the PS4 at all then?

I have to admit, that didn't post well. What I meant was, I don't really need a PS4 because I still have a PS3 which I don't really game on lately, so there would be no real reason for me to get one besides needing to have a new toy. The price is pretty low, but convincing myself and the misses would be harder still.

Great! Please post a review here when you get it.

I know about all the reviews on the true gaming sites - but those suffer from TMI (Too Much Info) ;)
