You must forgive him for being skeptical but given the numerous people claiming insider knowledge that the MBP would come out before now and given the fact that all of them being wrong, it makes it just a little bit difficult for someone to accept a brand new member to the forum's claim that they know someone inside apple and the update is next week. Hell I've only been on these forums since the beginning of the month and I've seen enough of these claims to choke a moose. So please don't be offended by the comment. And if you still choose to leave, tell your insider friend to register and start giving us the info direct
I'm placed high enough in my seat to pretty much assure you we've guessed this already. I've also got the head honcho's word. Till Jobs tells me he's changing his deadline, i'm taking Tuesday to be the day for a large SDK and other events.

Excellent point. Now it's really too bad the MBP's didn't release last Tuesday. It would've been sweet to track all the trades w/it this Tuesday.
Here's one trade that's for sure going down by the deadline: my CC# for the best MBP available (plus software and accessories to be named later).
I do hope that happens too...

You know, I am waiting for the next 15 MBP, but I do like my MB a lot. The only reason I want a new MBP is that I am jealous of my wife's and it feels much, much sturdier, keys are quieter when typing, etc. just feels like a nicer, more elegant machine to me.
Of course there is the Air, but as soon as I buy one, there will be an update in Oct-nov then I will be pissed.... which leads me to my point...
Or does it, I don't even know now. Crap. I'm going to mow the freaking grass now, an activity that, as of yet, does not require an OS to perform...

In Oz, today only, I can get 10% off an Apple MB or MBP (thru' reseller). I have a 2Ghz Core Duo with 0.5Gb memory, now ~18 months old. Like everyone I have been waiting on the new MBP. 10% off is nice... which I can put against a Time Capsule. What would you guys do? Is the imminent release of an updated MBP worth waiting for vs. ~A$300 off the current? [That's USD270 off].

Well that would be your decision. The updates to the MBP that are speculated are a slight speed boost with the Penryn chipset, hopefully a larger HDD on the base units, magnetic latch, MBA style trackpad/keyboard (maybe) and something that I'm really hoping for, an LED display for the 17" model. Just ask yourself if those are worth A$300, or rather if you really would be missing out on much if you didn't have them.

Hard to answer: As nobody really knows when and what is comming. The best guess is, look at what features are expected (like magentic latch, multitouch, new keyboard, penryn), all of that does not improved the mpb significantly. It more depends, are there any freatures u really want and u think are worth waiting for.
If u like the current version, than go for one, if u can get a good offer.
I'm not hapy with current version, so i would not buy it, even if there's no update for another 2 month.
So it's a up to what u need and want. There will be new mwp comming. For sure within the next 6 month, so if u can risk to wait that long (in the worst case), then do it.
All lot sign point to an uptade soon, but u never know. it might even be that most rumors, which turn out to be wrong, were correct the time they came out. Descisions and release dates get often shifted the last minute.

My god, I would rather spend time with people eagerly awating a laptop then spend another minute reading one of your posts. 15-year-olds type like that. It is aggrivating, degrading, and downright annoying to read.
Have you ever visited these boards before? Every second thread is full of people waiting very impatiently for some product or other, and this is exacerbated tenfold when the product in question is way beyond its normal refresh time. If you don't like it, don't hang around on the forums!
By the way, you need just as many keystrokes to type 'any' as you do to type 'n e'. Just a little tip to save you some unnecessary trouble in future.
We do it (whining & complaining) because it makes us happy and gives us something to look forward to... most of the people who read these forums (myself included) lead mostly boring lives .... so the "get a life, and stop moping !!!!!!!"... not gonna happen... this is their / our / my life right now... and then it'll be something else to b*tch about....
