Given the time between the Penryn release and Apple's integration, do you really think that Apple is just going to toss the Montevina processor into the MBP right after it is released in June? Somehow I seriously doubt it. Good luck though.
I highly doubt they will release MBP's with Montevina in June, but i can almost guarantee it will be out in july or august. I havent heard anything from any fake inside source, i just using my knowledge in thinking that apple is smart enough to release a new laptop right before the school year, because thousands of students including me are going to buy a laptop for college this upcomming year. So, i just hope that they realize that if they sell it in july or early august they will get a lot of sales for new and current college students. Just my thought.

Is it always like this?

I'm new to the Apple Community. I'm planning on buying a MacBook Pro imminently. Is it normal for everyone to put their lives on hold and give themselves bleeding ulcers in anticipation of catching some of Steve Jobs table scraps?

no one has proof though....i'm so tired of a different person telling people to wait another week....where is the proof that there is even a "special" event for next week!

Its sort of like the faithful preaching to the choir...
We keep holding on, with no real proof of anything other than another Tuesday will come (at least I hope so).

I think we all agree, those in need of a new MBP RIGHT NOW, should just get off the pot and buy one! For those of us who would like a new MBP to either transition away from Windows or replace an ailing but not yet dead computer, or just add to the collection, this is just sort of a form of entertainment. Speculating, bitching and waiting...

Eventually Apple, will release an updated MBP. No clue when, no clue (at this point) what chip or processor, nor if the case design will be updated and what features such as the multi-touch pad, or BluRay disk or magnetic closure or.... or or or...

But we wait and keep hoping for the next Tuesday.

Around here it seems so. And people wonder why they're talked about as a cult, brainwashed and all

Get out while you can, my friend...

My advice to ZooCrewMan: ‘Delete that bookmark and get out while you still can!’

You know, I was new to the Apple Community (rumor forums) simply because I was interested in the Macworld 2008 keynote and what new products would be released (I have been a mac user for over 15 years but never, ever watched a keynote). Since then, I have fallen into the seedy world of checking macrumor.com each morning once I start-up Safari. It is not healthy. It is not good for work motivation. Reading people’s posts adds no value to my life what-so-ever. Like what U2 sang, “...got stuck in a moment and now you can’t get out!”

Is it too late for me to escape? (any tips would be welcome)

I just don't understand the fanaticism that seems so inherent in a large portion of the Apple owner population. I mean, if Steve Jobs farted in a glass jar and put a price tag on it, how many people would buy it?!

I think Jobs has a bit of a monopoly concerning his OS X converts. Once a person joins, few alternatives exist. The MPB issue is an especially big deal because, quite frankly, there are no other options.

A new fragrance by Apple?
Eau de JobsFart. Can we market that?

Awesome, I am need of a new cologne, do you know what its called? I believe it smells like roses, and has bright yellow appearance, kinda like the sun ...

Maybe the reason it's late is the work involved getting all the other applications to work with the new touchscreenpad that will be somewhat larger than anything seen so far.
eg any application that could use buttons, knobs or sliders, such as faders for Logic, brush thicknesses in Photoshop etc....

This would be an amazing step up from the optimus keyboard.

Mac would once again be way ahead of any other laptop.

I don't believe the delay is for anything less - well here's hoping anyhow.

Imagine this:-

http://www.engadget.com/photos/macbook-pro-mockup-contest-results-the-winner-is-you/644860/

but perhaps a bit longer touchpad, with user configurable sliders, buttons, even a numeric keypad.....

Maybe someone with some time to spare could come up with a suitable mockup?

Seems too long a delay for a simply processor / speed bump.

well the delay was cuz of the penryn situation (they say)..

but that mockup design looks nice and i'd feel really happy tht i waited (its not much different but its enough)

prozac...;)

I don't that article is factually correct. Penryn is a processor which works on both the Santa Rosa and Montevina chipsets.

Yeah, the person writing that article doesn't have even the foggiest idea what they're talking about. Incredibly confused.

Let's kill time by creating poems about Steve Jobs!!

I'll start!

Oh, Steve
How art you a flower
For making thy power
book pro
Oh Stevie
*Que Heavy Satanic Death Metal*
EVERY DAY
I HEAR CRYS AND SCREAMS
WHERES MY POWERBOOK PRO
IT SEEMS
YOU'RE LYING TO US!
WTF?

caved in too!

very excited, I ended the wait and made a BTO 2.6 7200hd mbp.

It's a replacement for my 1ghz tibook, so for me this will be very sweet indeed.

next item of business: crucial for 4gigs of ram :D

The Montevina platform will NEVER show up in the MacBook Pro. Its just a chipset that includes a Penryn processor, X4500 GPU, and an Intel wireless chip. This chipset will more likely be saved for the MacBook. The MacBook Air will most likely receive a modified Montevina chipset. Apple still could update within the next week and not have to worry about doing it again for at least another 6 months. The MacBook Pro will still have a Penryn processor, but will include a GeForce GPU like the current gen model. So don't worry about having to replace your MacBook Pro in June. We can all share the Penryn fun! :)

Whoa slow down there. Are you saying it's "highly unlikely" that the :apple:MBP will see the Montevina chipset, or are you saying it "won't?" This is a rumors website, both make a difference:p But no, seriously. Highly unlikely, or won't?

Congrats!

Keep us updated on how your order progresses - i.e., if it gets delayed.

Won't because we all know that a Pro machine would never use a puny little Intel graphics chip xD. Montevina is just the name for a group of chips working together (Processor+GPU+WiFi). It's not a brand new Core2Duo Processor as the processor in this group is going to be a Penryn. Montevina is meant for Windows notebooks and theres a chance we will see the chipset in the next MacBook & MacBook Air refresh... Sorry if my first post was confusing.

Actually, if I can remember correctly, isn't the C2D in the current Santa Rosa MacBook Pros fitted with the Intel X3100? I believe that the onboard GPU, upon the event of adding another GPU (in the current MBPs, namely, the nVidia 8600), the onboard X3100/X4500 would relegate the task to the more powerful, dedicated graphics card chip, then serve only as a support thing, working only when the main GPU is really overstressed, albeit a very weak support. Hence, it should follow that even if the new Montevina chipset has the X4500, then Apple can still put on the nVidia 8800, or whatever it decides to put on.

A few, but most would just hop on MacRumors to bitch and moan about how they wished it to be in an aluminum jar. Following that, a story would arise suggesting that an aluminum jarred JobsFart was imminent, and the forums would go crazy every tuesday in anticipation.

Whatever. I would not go crazy for an aluminum JobsFart.

...unless it came in black aluminum.
