I just noticed that I have a few scratches on the back of my phone too...none on the front thank god. I'm a little disappointed - but it happens to every damn thing you buy - just like a new pair of shoes, a new car, ect. - everything, it's just a fact of life.

If someone starts selling some replacement glass soon, I might consider replacing it, but I might as well wait until after I accidentally drop a couple times (it will happen).

I never babied any of my phones with a case. I dropped my 3G several times and once landed face down and it broke the front glass. I bought the glass w/digitizer on ebay for about $40 and repaired it myself - a pretty easy repair really.

Two years from now, I'll be ready for the iPhone 6....

Bumper Incompatible with Magellan Premium Car Kit!

Hi All,

I have a bumper and discovered that it doesn't work with the Magellan Premium Car Kit. Without the bumper, the iPhone 4 works just fine. With the bumper, you will see the % charge stay at whatever value it had when you place it on the kit but you won't see the charge indicator. When you remove your iPhone 4, the % charge will get updated (with the kind of drop you might expect with the phone's GPS chip on).

I am assuming the thin layer of plastic around the sync cable port is just think enough to prevent good contact since the phone appears to be seated.

I took a chance on this case and love it.

Very slim, yet sturdy. Soft feel and comes with a screen protector. Even leaves the logo showing on the back. $25

I had the ID Card case for my 3GS. It's awesome for a NYer to keep their monthly MetroCard, WorkID, etc. Good for a night out if you don't want to bring your wallet too, can store a credit card and your license and you are good to go. I am still waiting for CaseMate's iPhone4 version. :)

Hey, they have the case-mate id available fir the 4 now, check it out on their site. I just double checked. Me, I'm waiting for switcheasy. They hve great cases and come with tons of stuff.

My Bumper came today. I had to do some work with the X-Acto knife around the headphone jack so i could use some damn headphones in the thing. Works ok now. It's enough protection for me and feels great in the hand but I'm sure better alternatives will be around soon.

And I'll add that the Bumper really does get rid of the signal issue. When I held the phone naked, I would lose 2 bars to No Service. Now I can't make it lose any signal no matter how I hold it. Very happy about that as coverage in my area isn't very good to begin with.

Apple and Steve JobzU salute you soldier!

I did check, they only have Metallic Silver in stock, no pink for the wife, no black for me. But I am debating the metallic, doesn't look too shabby. :)

What do you guys think about the invisi shield? --> http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/apple-iphone-4-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php

anyone have the full body cover up? Is it worth it? Does it make the iphone feel plasticy?

Thanks
Rioch

That's what I use on my 3G and it works perfectly. I actually prefer the texture as finger prints don't show as easily and it almost gives it the feel of tactile response when using the iPhone.

Plus BSE are WAYYYY cheaper that invisibleshield. Same exact thing pretty much except for the price.

Lessie - 30-dollar bumper from Apple - which won't work with their 30-dollar dock. Unless I want to remove it and put it on again every time I want to use the 30-dollar dock.

Wow - that's elegant as ****.

best post in a while and I've read a ton...but alas....you're talking to sheep(not all; dont get offended....there's always a black one)
$30 for a bumper?..really?

That's awesome.

A white back with a black front and a black bumper would the perfect combo, way better than any case.

I hate that the bumper doesn't cover up the back of the phone and leaves the back exposed to scratches, cracking and other damage. That is the only reason I wanted to get a case.

Also, the white iPhone looks hideous from the front, but absolutely gorgeous from behind, especially when it has a black bumper on it.

So I plan to use that same iPhone 4 OEM parts source engadget used to get the white backplate (or a quality third party maker). And if the back ever gets cracked (or I need to return it to Apple for support), I can always put back the original black backplate on.

Does apple have any way to find out? As long as I save the original back and swap it back for any warranty help, how could they?
this is my plan as well. is there a known place to purchase parts yet?

There poor cases are a direct result of Apple's desire to get people to waste $29.99 on their bumper when they get their iPhone in the store. It's a cynical marketing trick that most people other than Apple fanboys would be outraged about. Apple could just as easily give case makers the specs of the phone's dimensions a few weeks before launch but they choose not to do so because they know how high the margins are on cases/bumpers. It's like Best Buy trying to sell you a $100 HDMI cable when you buy your TV.

Apple makes great products, but they also engage in all the silly profit-driven tricks of the trade.

You can get free iPhone 4 silicone cases via www.cases.com. The only thing you pay for is shipping ($3.73 with First Class Mail). I saw this on gizmodo.

Is anyone considering The Vapor by Element? It's the only one I'm liking so far here are some pics.

From ElementCase's Vapor webpage:

"Despite it's minimalist appearance, the Vapor is CNC machined from a solid block of aircraft grade aluminum. In other words, it's strong and light(25 grams)!"

Maybe I'm just being ignorant, but given the antenna issues with the iPhone4, does it make any sense at all to wrap the two antennas in anodized aluminum?

I bought the blue ifrogz case at best buy. It looks nice and seems durable but it makes the phone a tad bit bulky for my tastes. The inside back of it is lined with a nice felt like material. The worst thing about this case is that it is slightly reflective which causes the flash to reflect right into the camera lens. All my pictures where the flash goes off look blue! I'll be returning this case. Ifrogz can trim the camera opening in matte black plastic and the problem will be solved.

O ok, I did look at the colors but yeah alot of these companies released cases but certain colors aren't available yet. I wanted the Incipio Feather but all they have is 3 colors I don't want. They show the others but can't order yet.

I have Ghost Armor on mine. Here in the Seattle area several of the malls have Ghost Armor kiosks in the malls and they will apply it for you with a life time guarantee in case it bubbles or peels.

Sounds similar to invisi shield other than the holes match up perfectly and it does cover the sides including the 'death grip' spot. I couldn't hold my phone and make calls from my home, now I can.

At&t

I went to an AT&T store in the mall and looked for iPhone 4 cases. The manager said, "Oh, we just got some in." A quick look at the case showed it had no hole for the flash.

I said, "These look like they're for the iPhone 3." She responded, "No they're not." I pointed to the back of the case and said, "It's missing the flash hole." She closely examined the back of the case, apparently trying to find the missing hole, and I just said "Thanks" and left.

That's what companies get for trying to jump the gun and get cases out faster than their competition.

That being said, why the hell are Apple's bumpers $30!?
