Ok, now this is really starting to feel like 2011 with the supposed iPhone 5 tear drop design (that never came to be) and cases leaking out

Ehhh I wouldn't say so. There's way more evidence and leaks that support this vertical camera iPhone design.

There were definitely a lot of people believing that tear drop iPhone including myself, but there wasn't much evidence for it.

Since the plastic is not cut out for the power button, that means no touchid...remember the cases has to be cut out for your finger to touch the device and read your fingerprint, and in this particulary case, the power button is plastic all over, except for the wholes for port, speakers, mic and camera

My thoughts exactly. From alloys to force touch, the Watch seems to have been a testing ground for new materials and tech. One caveat I've read about is that ceramic is generally more brittle than aluminium.

Regardless, I'd be willing to pony up the extra $ for a ceramic-sapphire glass black iPhone with matching black AirPods. I'd still miss the headphone jack, but what can we do. I hope at least iOS 11 is a more polished experience.

Yeah I like how Apple introduces materials or a feature on one product and then we see it on another.

Force Touch / 3D Touch
Haptic Feedback
Sapphire
32 / 128 / 256

Maybe they'll do something with liquid metal or ceramic on this new iPhone. Or a True Tone display.

This is a really sexy design. Just on looks alone is should sell quite well. But obviously, as the current-year-old phones already wipe the floor of ALL current phones in speed and software, sexy industrial design is just the icing on the cake.

To be clear, rumours states that Apple has already finalised the technology to have a Touch ID under the screen, BUT they are struggling with mass production, due to some issues. The fact that other rumours say that iPhone 8 availability will be constrained or even possibly delayed, in my opinion is a demonstration that they have decided to stick with the front facing Touch ID, at the cost of some delay in mass production.
for me i would rather wait and get the phone when it's available with it under the screen..will be worth the wait

Early cases mean nothing. How many times in the past have we seen these alleged case images, only to find out they're totally wrong on launch day? Companies shouldn't even make products based on leaks and guesses, you're only setting yourself up to lose money.

The point being, we've learned nothing here today.

Remember cases were made for the "teardrop" design too.

That was a long time ago. The 5, 6 and 7 designs were leaked around this time during their respective launch years and were spot on.

At this stage what looks about right is the shape and position of the camera.

The front panel is usually the last thing we see as a leak.

It's a rumor for heavens sake. RUMOR.

Those who use the iphone with left hand will be out of reach if the touchid is in power button

It would be more difficult to reach, but still possible. When I use the iPhone with my left hand the power button is quite close to the index finger, so I'd have to register it. Now I registered both thumbs and I just noticed the right one naturally rests on the power button if I hold the device on the right hand.

I'd much rather have the sensor on the front where it has always been, but a touchID on the side would be better than having it on the back in my opinion

How could Apple have not planned the release of their 10th anniversary phone?

Being late or not living up to expectations is going to be a huge black eye for Apple.

I think most of the purported problems are misinformation.

"Idle hands are the Devil's workshop."

Ok so not that extreme... but at this point my guess is the case makers are just bored and needed to make something, whether it's accurate or not.

Probably because the technology isn't ready until last minute.. at least not for mass production

Why? You can use your index finger if you are left handed, and your tumb if your right handed.

Right....

So let me get my head round be this MacRumors..

It's now called the 'iPhone 10th Anniversary Edition' instead of the iPhone 8.

And it's now 4.7" in screen size as opposed to the 5.8" or 5.5" or 5.2" screen sizes you've stated in previous stories...

Something tells me we all literally have no clue.

Hopefully we'll see some more leaks over the next few weeks.

I got the S8+ last week, and it took a bit to get used to a back panel fingerprint sensor, but now its awesome. Almost kinda wish the iPhone had it on the back now haha. Either way, this phone is going to be awesome with the mode to OLED and the potential for augmented reality.

Putting Touch ID on the lock button doesn't really make much sense from a user experience point of view. You unlock your phone using the lock button... General users could be slightly confused, considering the fact that with iOS 10 you don't even have to use a button to wake up the screen in the first place. I guess you could just pick your phone and scan your finger, the placement just seems a little weird and I'm assuming this could be why others haven't done it apart from Sony.

It only seems inappropriate if perceiving "lock" as a verb, instead of as a noun as it would be in this case. As a noun, a single lock is always used to lock and unlock an item. The nuance makes a difference.

Typically locks lock and unlock using a single interface, be it a single key, or button, just as power is turned off and on using a single button or at times a switch. The logic of locking and unlocking using a single button is appropriate.

Because us left handers can't reach the power button currently....

The buttons actual name is the sleep/wake button. Makes perfect sense to me.
