Have you used paperlike before? thinking about it, but wondering if 2 months in i'm going to just want to not use it because it takes away from experience more than it adds to it.

I have used the official (expensive) Paperlike and I do not recommend it. Geneneration-1 used to be very good and then they went "science" about it and change it to a horrible Gen-2 and on...

I recommend you to buy the cheap ones on Amazon, they are based on the original Paperlike, work excellent and are a fraction of the price. And they do not take away from screen quality, if anything makes it better to use, less gloss and more friction.

Could you list 5 things that you are gonna do with the M1 iPad other than browse the web and watch videos?
This is my iPad task listing, in no particular order:

1. Check email
2. Create/manage notes (I'm OCD as hell)
3. Manage family photo & video library
4. Manage documents (tax docs, legal docs, technical manual libraries, etc)
5. Draw on it
6. Edit videos
7. Manage personal music library
8. Read news, comics, and books
9. SSH into remote machines
10. Play casual games
11. Banking
12. Record live drums, bass, guitar, and vocals
13. Convert music to notation
14. Access guitar & bass amp software
15. Access electronic drum software
16. Mix recorded music
17. Access educational apps
18. FaceTime
19. Edit/execute SQLs on remote machines
20. Light DevOps work
21. Manage home automation/security
22. Cast content to my TV
23. iMessage

Basically, everything I used a Mac for, and more than I can't do on a Mac.

Mine says "preparing to ship" too, I did not know I was among the lucky ones. I did order right as it went live so that might be why.

It is funny how all my accessories have already arrived: paper-like screen protector, Logitech keyboard case and USB-C hub, but not the iPad.
So did I, but my order is still "processing." It still says 5/21-5/28.

As much as this forum is divided on so many topics , there is no denying apples ability to produce and deliver at scale and on time , in today’s world where nvidia / amd/ Sony customers , need to deal with scalpers to get products , we can value apples ability to release a product at scale , and although dates do slip on launch , it’s not an “unavailable” like the ps5 or RTX 3060 , you get in a queue and you get your device at MSRP at a predictable date , hope to see reviews drop before the 21st , but probably won’t happen.

Got my confirmation email 3 mins after pre-orders opened. My UK order is still processing for 27 May delivery.

12.9 Silver 1TB 5G

Same here 12.9 1TB 5G but in SG ordered within minutes (apart from basket kept going empty first few tries). Email said 21st - 27th but app states 27th now UK as well

i said this sooo many times fall/winter last year back when i was trying to snag a 3080 (successfully.) apple's system for securing product is robust, even if it requires a wait. i managed to snag a ps5 as well, entirely because the (now ex) manager of that particular gamestop was really cool with me and helped me secure a PO over the phone.

people still trying to get either of these products today have to take advantage of inventory tracker sites, discords, and twitter pages. when i was going for the 3080, we were burning the midnight oil outside of microcenters just to wait an extra 2-3 hours in store for info on whether or not any actually showed up on their delivery truck. nightmarishly disorganized shipping practice.

best buy, microcenter, and co. really need to step it up to apple's level when it comes to product ordering.

Ridiculous tasks. Who in the right mind wouldn't use a proper computer for development tasks

Yep I’m the same here! Smart Keyboard, Apple Pencil, screen protector and my sleeve all sat waiting !
Same. My inscribed Apple Pencil just came in today.

Could you list 5 things that you are gonna do with the M1 iPad other than browse the web and watch videos?
1. Take notes
2. Type up writing projects
3. Read sheet music
4. Use sidecar to have an HDR capable screen for video editing
5. Use sidecar to have an HDR capable screen for photo editing
6. Use sidecar to have a drawing tablet for photo editing
7. Review photos with clients
8. Draw
9. Work on graphic design projects (hello affinity designer for iPad)

Those are the things that come to mind immediately; I could probably list more if I gave it thought.

I am waiting for Apple Pencil 3, hopefully it will come out soon. I donated my AP2 to my sister.
They release those things alongside iPad Pro updates, so you’ll be waiting a while.

Just searched it… feels like they used a proprietary nanodots pattern on the Gen2 which improves the clarity, but can’t capture the “more like paper” roughness of the original?

I wish Apple would justify that much power with the next version of iPadOS. I’ll wait until WWDC to see if I upgrade to one of these.

Same here. Was debating between getting the 8GB RAM or 16GB one for so long that the ship dates slipped to July, LOL.

I can have all of my work stuff inside my Windows VDI, VDI published apps, and access from the new iPad with full KB and mouse support.

Hope they add support for FIDO2 keys over USB-C and inside the VDI apps.

Apple will soon ship out 11 and 12.9-inch M1 iPad Pro models, according to multiple Twitter users and MacRumors readers who have seen their orders shift to "Preparing to Ship" status.

iPad-Pro-Feature.jpg

So far, we haven't seen any shipment notifications, but that's the next step and is likely to happen in the near future. Apple has not provided an exact delivery date to those who ordered a new M1 iPad Pro, but the tablets will start delivering on May 21.

ipad-pro-preparing-to-ship.jpg

Many users who preordered early received estimated delivery dates ranging from May 21 to May 28, and if orders ship out as early as this week, some users will indeed receive their tablets on the May 21 date.

Orders that have shifted over to Preparing to Ship are no longer able to be canceled, though the products can be returned once delivered.

The M1 iMac models and the second-generation Apple TV 4K orders that were placed at the same time could also soon shift to a Preparing to Shift status, though we're not seeing reports about them just yet.

Supplies of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro have been constrained, and orders placed now have delivery estimates ranging into July. 11-inch models are easier to come by, with Apple planning to deliver new orders in late May or early June.

The M1 iPad Pro models are identical to the previous-generation iPad Pro models in design, but inside, they're equipped with the same M1 chip that's in the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini, plus they support Thunderbolt connectivity. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro also has a mini-LED "Liquid Retina XDR" display that makes the device slightly thicker.

Pricing on the 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, while pricing on the higher-end 12.9-inch model starts at $1099.

I could not find a screen protector for the 12.9 iPad Pro on the Apple web site. Is that where you ordered if from?
