I don't understand why you need that much RAM on an iPad. It can't really multi task. Its just a toy.

Of course, likely a big part of the reason it has limited multitasking is because it has limited RAM paired with no swap.

Meh, my home desktops/laptops were toys, too, anyway. Their primary purpose was entertainment, not work.

I don't use it as a "toy." My work hands out SurfacePros, and I chose an iPad Pro instead (They gave me a SurfacePro, and I handed it back after a few months). All of the MS Office products work very well. Dropbox, Photoshop, Lightroom, iMovie, Goodreader, Kindle are my main apps. I present for a living and it's so much nicer than having a laptop. I simply set it down on the stand and go through my presentations. It's not a "toy" to me. I admit that I have a backgammon game on their for fun!

Well, it's not just current use-case but also that my Air 2 lasted my 7 years, but now reload apps everywhere when I multitask, due to so little RAM. I multitask a lot. I hope the Pro I'm getting will last as long and maybe do better towards the end, with those juicy 8GB.
Same here. My Air 2 is still working but with lots of hiccups. It just turned 6 years in January for me. Certainly need a more powerful one. IPads and I have a long history together.

Along with every other operating system since TOPS-10 or TOPS-20; the last OSes with real scheduling and memory management No, Un*x is not on that list, but it’s as good as we’re going to get these days.
