I have a proper computer, no worries.
Same. A two of them, not counting the laptop. But what a shame! Today was a beautiful sunny day, I wanted to spend much of it outside on my garden, get a daily dose of vitamin D and do my assignments. But it was so sunny all of my displays were a pain to look at, including AMOLED.
I already had use for iPad but if they made it work under direct sunlight, it will fully replace paper and Kindle for me.
It's pricey as hell, but anything that will make your life happier or easier is worth it, imo.

Mine just went to PTS as well. 12.9 space grey, cellular, 1 Tb. Delivery window 5/21 - 5/28. Ordered 6 minutes after 8 EDT. Southeastern US.

So did I, but my order is still "processing." It still says 5/21-5/28.
Same. When I saw this thread go up it prompted me to go check the status of my order in the Apple store and was immediately thrown into a battle of fixing my Apple ID password as it wouldn’t let me login. That was fun.

Anyway I’ve got all that straightened out now and I’m still not under the status of “preparing to ship”

Apparently Apple had some sort of system issue my Apple ID encountered.

I ordered from Walmart and my order status has been saying that and it says order arrives by May 26.

Still holding out to see what Apple has up their sleeve for iOS at WWDC. Even then, I still might sit this one out because (a) I don’t use any pro apps -and- (b) my 2020 12.9 IPP is still a beast.

Got PTS notification.

What I plan to do with it: Finish Einstein's United Field Theory work and present it on the 2600+ zone mini-led display

or, or, or,

use the my calculated extra M1 4 millseconds better response time to better game the next Apple preorder window.

The M1 iPad Pro models are identical to the previous-generation iPad Pro models in design . . .

Well, not exactly:

I have a proper computer, no worries.
I have two that I own and three from work. Still have use for my iPad for more than social media.

Shakespeare said it best: There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, / Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Wahoo! Just got moved over to “preparing to ship”.

It’s become very obvious that some people really dislike knowing that there are people out there that like tablets… This will be my first one and I’m super excited to familiarize myself with it.

The MacBook for me is personally way too much machine so I hope that this replaces it. I feel it will.

I’m just really excited to start drawing on the iPad. It’s really the only reason I’m giving this a shot before pulling the trigger on another laptop (MBP)

EDIT: Credit card just got charged too!

The issue with the iPad Pro is, because it’s not a real computer and IMHO not a laptop replacement, you don’t know what the limits are or when you’re going to hit the wall doing some stuff. There were so many times where I just couldn’t continue with the iPad. I had to use my iMac to finish my job.

If you’re using the iPad Pro in the mindset of “This is going to be my main work machine”, then you’ll be living in constant fear. I really mean it. However, if you’re using the iPad in the mindset of “This is a great device with a constant connectivity to the internet, I think I can use it for almost all my needs” then you’re thinking differently because you know the limitations and therefore can prepare yourself.

I fully agree with this sentiment.
iPad Pro overpriced Social Media Maschine.

Ridiculous tasks.
Ridiculous comment. The iPad is aimed squarely at the tasks I listed, and as I said they're the tasks I perform with it.

Please elaborate on how ANY of the tasks I listed is "ridiculous". Be specific.

Who in the right mind wouldn't use a proper computer for development tasks
Ah, the old "I'm a Developer so anyone using something other than a "proper computer" is out of their mind" trope.

I've had people rage against this before because I mentioned that I work in a DevOps team and that I could use an iPad for work. This is because they don't understand what DevOps or Agile is, and don't realize that I'm not a developer. I'm an Operations Engineer. And in my list I specified "light DevOps work" for a reason. I know the iPad is limited in many ways. I use a work-issued PC for my main work.

Regardless, here's some links as evidence that people use the iPad for DevOps, even if YOU have hang-ups about it:

It still amazes me that there are still so many people that are ignorant about what people use tablets for.
It’s always funny how upset certain computer users get when they see people enjoying something they don’t understand. Without a hint of self-realization or irony, these Mac users look down on iPad users the exact same way Windows users did to them and the Mac back in the 90s. ‘Just a toy’

I ordered a few minutes after 5:00AM (PDT). I also have the status changed to Preparing to ship.

I ordered a new Applet TV at the same time. No change with that status. Still processing.

It really is hilarious.

Somehow they feel threatened by SOMEONE ELSE rejecting "real computers" and using a different device to get the (personal OR professional) job done.

I'm glad that they expose themselves, though. It's (morbidly) fun for me to see them uselessly rage against the machine.

They will barrage you with made up examples.
I’m going to fly a drone on the planet Mars.;) I do have one on order and have mixed feelings. I guess for me it is the sports car of iPads. Let’s just hope that it gets an iOS and apps. that don’t throttle it.

Could you list 5 things that you are gonna do with the M1 iPad other than browse the web and watch videos?
Kind of a silly comment. Why do we have to have more than 5 things to do with it, for starters? Is it not a fantastic device for browsing the web and watching videos?

For me, it will be replacing my computer. I use my computer for browsing the web, email, various social media apps, organizing my photos, reading PDFs and sometimes word processing. An 11" ipad does all of this just as well (in some cases better, for me) and is lighter, smaller and cheaper than a new mac but doesn't limit me to my phone.
