I’d be interested to hear if anyone in the UK has their CC charged and order status moved to ‘preparing to ship’.

all morning I wasn’t able to check my order status, seemed like the apple store app had crashed. Tried to message support and couldn’t. I grabbed my 12 por max and tried, nothing! Just as I was about to loose my shizzz I picked up my iPad and BAM!!! apple store pops up and I see PREPARING TO SHIP!!! I’m am also waiting for DBrand to ship my skins out. Cant wait to check this thing out.. I need some advice tho, Which case should I order? I need a rugged case! not a huge fan of the unicorn beetle pro. I have one on my iPad rn and it’s so hard to get it out of the case. I game almost every night and can’t stand gaming with the case on. Any suggestion? I need something that will withstand some abuse and keep her safe but at the same time easy to remove. Please and Thank you.
This is what's wrong with the world. People "losing their shizz" because they couldn't immediately check the status of their iPad order that won't be here for another 2 weeks. Get outside, Man.

I’d blame covid-19 lockdowns and people having to spend way too much time inside. Unless you live in Texas where you can live free and not having to work from home 24x7. Another thing to blame on covid.

This is what I do on my current iPad daily. I'll enjoy doing the same much more on my new 12.9 that just moved into prepared for shipping!
  1. Take handwritten meeting notes while recording the meeting audio with Notability.
  2. Play games.
  3. Write papers for school and work.
  4. Email for work/personal.
  5. Use all my web-based tools (Jira, Miro, etc.)
  6. Use all the apps I've purchased.
  7. Zoom.
  8. Manage investments.
  9. and and and
My laptop sits unused the majority of the time, except for software development.
How will the new iPad enhance your current work?

It amazed me that people are willing to spend more than 1000$ on an Ipad. Glorified Facebook Machine
You are not holding it right....

Preparing to ship CC charged.
I want one and I can afford one so it is replacing my 2017 10.5 iPad Pro, I will use it for whatever I damn well please.

So, my conclusion is, a lot of the tools, tasks users are buying the iPad Pro with M1 for, they could easily do on a standard iPad or iPad Air or Mini. But, if you believe you need the power for a device still hobbled by limited multi-tasking, then its not my place to say what you think is best for your needs.

People didn't earn money without any effort. They have enough reason to buy anything they want. You are not in school, stop keep asking things you don't understand. And you are not their son, stop worrying about how they spend their money.

I will remember that for the next Friday for Future campaign.

Your analysis is spot on.

And people could drive the cheapest cars that get the job of moving people and stuff around, too. And cars costs a lot more than iPads do, but that doesn’t stop most people from getting some nicer.

More like, “So my conclusion is, I like to troll.”

Could you list 5 things that you are gonna do with the M1 iPad other than browse the web and watch videos?

Adobe Lightroom (it's great for sorting and eliminating)
e-mail (was that a give me?)
Calendar (another give me)
Starfleet Command
Sonos Control (music and tv)
Maps (still plan travel)
Hotel and Airplane Aps (control my reservations)
Read Books (mostly manuals)
Note taking/editing (iA writer across all my devices)
Interact with my dropbox (across all my devices)

and sure, for most of those things a regular iPad would do the trick. Shrugs. I like the convenience of not having to think about whether my iPad is up to the task or not, and just doing it.

I for one refuse to leave my office chair until the UPS man knocks on the door with my shiny new iPad. I won't eat, I won't sleep, I'm not even going to go to the bathroom. I will sit right here, where I currently am hitting refresh over and over repeatedly until I can setup my new iPad, plug it in to charge, immediately forget about it and start shopping on Amazon for new technology to get my fix.

Serious question: does it bother you that much? I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum who make a very good living for themselves. So to them $1000 is like you spending $100

I don’t think you understand who the target market for the Pro are. People like photographers, for example. People who happily spend several thousand on lenses alone.
This. I am patient about waiting for my 12.9 iPad Pro because I have the Sony 50 mm f1.2 coming in today! Woot! Can't wait to put that piece of glass through its paces. 2k. and that's not my most expensive lens.

Part of the reason for that limited multi-tasking (e.g. apps reloading, limitations on background processing) is because Apple likes to skimp on RAM on iOS devices. Situation's worse on iOS than MacOS (or Windows or Linux) because there's no swap available. Now, they're actually offering some configurations with headroom. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to see 16GB RAM on the iPad until maybe at least 5-10 years from now.

There's also storage. If one wants 512GB or more, the only option is the iPad Pro.

Same if one wants a 12.9 only one option as well, which is the main reason i get the Pro

Lol, not gonna lie, I bought my first 12.9 so I wouldn't have to pan and zoom when reading comics with double-page spreads. 🤣🤣🤣

Besides, as frivolous expenditures go, the iPad's far more useful than this:
