No worries. I might be able to get back on unlimited. If not Ill do it again with a different dumb phone that I can actually call them on.

I'm going to try one last thing.

Removed sim card from iPhone, logged into OLAM removed the $30 dumb phone data plan and changed the device from iPhone 4 to dumb phone. After I receive the e-mail going to re-add the $30 dumb phone plan and put the sim card back into the iPhone 4 again and wait for the text messages again.

lol, I have so many pro-rated changes on my account from trying to get this to work (removing and adding features), my next bill is going to look funky.

I think I am just done trying to do this now. It's been another 2 hours since I did the following method I posted above this post and still nothing.

All in all almost 2 days trying and nothing (no texts, no e-mails)..

Guys - remember to read the last paragraph on my 1st post. If you can't get the text to appear, try doing what I did (calling at&t).

Also make sure you made some calls and used the phone.

I did everything you said and it worked perfectly! Now I have unlimited ! Thanks so much!

I'll give them a call tomorrow. What happens if the rep doesn't give me unlimited? Do I say I don't want to switch back to the iPhone and try again hoping I get a different rep?

Did you call and request unlimited data or did you get the text message successfully?

I already tried calling and they won't add unlimited data they said only 200mb or 2GB and can't go back even if I had it before.

I'm going to wait a little longer I guess until tomorrow morning, see if I get a text.

I would try a different rep.

I called ATT back jusst now because I said this isn't working for me. So I talked to the rep and said I needed to add my iphone 4 back to my account, and he said ok. I asked if he added my data back (I didn't even ask for unlimited data) and he said yes. I just logged into OLAM and it has $30 unlimited data for iphone selected!!! :D

Didn't get a text for hours. Got tired of waiting. Called AT&T bc they'll be closed all weekend. Got a tired cranky rep so hung up and called back. Got some guy told him I dwitched y sim to my old samsung and now my data on iPhones not working. He thought the sims weren't compatible so I just told him I had a sim adapter. He was surprised, ddnt know they existed. He asked if i previously ha unlited and I said yes. He was going to put it on but couldn't so looked at my old bill. Saw I had 2gb and said I can't get unlimited. I just ignored him and politely said I want my unlimited back. He tried convincing me that 2gb was a lot but I insisted on unlimited. He told me the system wouldn't allow it but he could try another system. 10 minutes later he told me he added it. Checked on olam and *data#. Both confirmed. Just got lucky with the right rep.

parkp81 you've given me hope :). If they don't mention unlimited data should I ask anyway? Seems odd that they would automatically add unlimited data to an iphone 4 but the less hassle the better.

Yea thats what i meant. I wanna see how you guys are achieving this.

Works well and I completely changed my calling/text to my GV. Downsides are:

1) You must initially text your contacts from the GV site first before your texts are routed to textnow. If they text you first to GV then it should be fine.

2) GV doesn't support MMS although textnow does. You can send MMS and it will be from your GV number but you cannot received them using it. You can only receive them to your @textnow.me address.

All I told the rep was I wanted to add my iPhone 4 back to my line and he asked for the IMEI number and that was it. He put me on hold and made some changes for like a few minutes and said your all set. He never asked me about data, so I asked him if he added the data back to my account and he said yup, and I never asked what type of data he added and just hung up after that and logged into OLAM and saw the "unlimited". :D

worked for me.. bought at&t go phone for $30, called rep and switched. took just under 2 hrs, and it's already changed. followed the steps exactly, didn't even need to call the rep, and it already shows up as unlimited data plan for iphone on account. just got the first two text messages, not the third though. thanks.

you probably could. i still haven't even opened the box. the imei number is on the bottom of the box. i'm probably just gonna keep it though.

This seems like working for a lot of people, somebody should make a tutorial and upload it on YouTube.

so if you do this, the only difference in your bill is paying 5 bucks more for unlimited?

I would do this just for the sake of having unlimited, but honestly don't even care that much. I don't plan on tethering and 2 GB seems to be fine for me. It would be cool if they rolled over data too haha.

Didn't work for me unfortunately. After I gave the IMEI number he said did I want the same 2gb plan or the 200. I asked him if there was unlimited and he said no. He said I didn't have it before so he couldn't do it. Oh well, I guess I'll just save $5 a month for now. I wasn't going over 2gb anyway since I have wifi at work/school/home. But it would've been nice to have peace of mind for those times where I'm away and want to tether (via jb).

:( Bummer, sorry it didn't work out. But you can always try it again later on, and hopefully run into a rep that will add it. I'm guessing my rep just saw that I had the $30 unlimited for dumb phone and just assumed I had unlimited before for the iPhone, without further looking at my account in further detail maybe?

That's what I was thinking. At this point it's a bit of a hassle to keep having to call in :(. Maybe some other time.
