OP clearly has no clue how tech companies operate. I honestly wish I could be a apple tech support person just so i could say anything and OP would believe me.

OP is the same type of person who walks into a Walmart and yells at the workers as if they were the CEO of the company

Apple Watch promotional material CLEARLY states the feature is coming “later this year”. I am 100% sure they ran this with the Legal dept more than a few times and are at least reasonably certain it’s coming out this year.

It’s useless because it adds ZERO value to the conversation.

I would argue that his comment (not caring about the EKG function) is just as valid as your opinion, my opinion and that of others. Frankly, I would consider the EKG function "interesting", but certainly not my primary reason for purchasing a S4 Watch. Does that make me and my comments equally "useless"? Don't think so.

Spoke to an online support for Apple and there is NO guaranty that such "technology" may happen this year.
If that is the case its pure deception on the part of Apple to sell watches on the promise of something they may not deliver. $749.00 for a 44mm SS watch ....not happy right now!!!

It will be here with watchOS 5.1 in late October or November. "Watch" hahaha.

Stepping back from the debate/discussion here to say that 5.1 appears to be improbable at this point, since it hasn't shown up in the betas yet. That doesn't prove anything, but I think it is suggestive. Never say never/fingers crossed.

Interesting post from another thread on the latest wOS DB. I have no idea how likely it might be that the ECG function would be released as a stand-alone app rather than as part of wOS and/or iOS. Thinking about that, it seems maybe more likely to be a separate app, which would mean that there wouldn't be any clues on this in the betas. FWIW (which is not a great deal).

Nobody knows other than Apple. It may even be an optional download and not included with the OS, for all we know.

I love Apple...

BUT......

Wouldn’t surprise me honestly.

AirPower anyone?

Thankfully I didn’t buy the series 4 just for the ecg.

Except that they said this of the charging mat and it's nowhere to be seen. Though I guess they have a couple more months to deliver on "coming in 2018" and they didn't sell them to people in advance using this particular feature as a main selling point.

But nobody bought a charging mat based on the promise it would function later this year.

People DID buy the watch based on the ECG promise.

Big difference under the law.

There's a difference.

They didn't sell a single unit of AirPower so no one can claim they were led into buying something for a feature that would come out but didn't.

Not so much the case with the Apple Watch - this is a selling point and people are paying money with the expectation that the feature will be released this year. So I think they were extra careful with that claim and the "later this year" wording is there just to allow some buffer for them to deal with regulatory paperwork.

Apple has provided the technology, it works and its included in the device. It's up to the laws and regulators in that country to allow the feature to be used. Without approval from regulators for that country, it will be illegal to sell the product.

So perhaps shift your blame from Apple and request approval from your government.
If they don't have the ability to deliver it based on regulations or whatever, they shouldn't advertise it. I also upgraded this year based on their announcement that this watch will measure ECG. If they don't deliver that with this model, they may rightly face a major class-action.

Doubtful... but in such a litigious society, who knows for sure.

I'm not sure why you are making it seem like the customers would be in the wrong. A company made a promise, and sold items based on that promise.

If you can't deliver, don't make promises. Companies need to be held accountable, or else they will promise the world and never deliver.

In Apple's case they promised to deliver ECG by in 2018, if they release it in January of 2019, they made sales off of a promise they didn't keep. All they had to do was say was it was a feature that MAY be released in 2018 instead of WILL be. Then the promise is open ended and customers can make an educated decision based off of an open ended promise (which to me is still wrong, but at least is not legally wrong).

I don't think you read my post carefully enough.
