Well, clearly it’s just not quite ready yet. Maybe there’s some regulatory detail still to check off that’s taking longer than expected. Maybe they were about to release it and ran into a last-minute bug, either with ECG specifically or with some other aspect of the release (watches getting bricked or whatever). Maybe they’ll release it later this week.

In any case, I wish it was here now but would rather they emphasize quality over speed. If they shoved this out the door with bugs in the interest of making the expected date, then we’d all be shouting about how horrible their quality control is.

Let’s be patient a bit longer.

So do we think it comes out tomorrow?

Any day now!

Because WatchOS works in harmony and tandem with iOS and the installed iOS Watch App, the iOS has to therefore be fully compatible with certain watchOS features. Therefore the ECG feature would have to be fully implemented, “ready & waiting” within iOS & the Watch app beforehand or at very least, at the same time; therefore beforehand is naturally best practice to reflect on a companies streamlined efficiency & functionality of its synced products and the latest iOS just got released.

Just hours ago iOS 12.1.1 was suddenly showing ready and available to download and this is a really good indicator that WatchOS 5.1.2 is ready to follow very soon, possibly even days or at least during this month (December 2018) before the year is out.

Of course there’s always the possibility that there’s yet another small iOS update which will also follow soon, i.e. maybe iOS 12.1.2 in which the smaller revision increments (#.1.2) would then tally-up whereas before they have been out by #.#.1, who knows.

In case you live under a rock Watch OS 5.1.2 supposed to come with ECG app and Apple released all updates today except for Watch OS makes you wonder why.
No, it doesn't. There used to be a law that said updates for all devices must come out on the same day, but that was repealed last year. Now they're allowed to wait until an update is ready for release. I heard that under my rock. Try to keep up.

There are maybe 4-5 kinds of AFib. While some of them can be detected regardless of the symptoms others have to be caught in the act.
This is inaccurate. There is one kind of atrial fibrillation. It can behave differently and be there only sometimes or all of the time. It does not always cause symptoms but can always be detected IF having a EKG or wearing a monitor when it happens. Most people who think they have symptoms of afib more commonly have benign premature beats instead.

2013 to 2016 we never caught my occasional afib, so diagnosing was difficult.

One week after buying alive core Kardia we captured my first afib, and began treatment.

So I have firsthand experience of how having a device available can dramatically affect diagnosis.

And having Apple Watch detect elevated heart rates overnight has been a big deal too.

I’m a believer.
This would have been captured by a 4 week event monitor if you were wearing one. Holter monitors are almost worthless to capture afib until it is occurring daily.

There was a law? Maybe I was the one living under the rock, it's well known practice from Apple they release all updates same day except for Mac and Apple TV.

So? You were really upset that they “failed you again” by being a day late, then you became insulting. You need to learn how to relax.

Just go into the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and change your region to US. Good to go!

Thanks. I’ll do that. Just waiting for my replacement to be delivered. Should be with me any second now… c’mon ups.

So no need to change the region on my iPhone?

Betting the watch update will come out same time as the iOS update did yesterday.

Was wise of Apple not to release both in the same day.

Crush the servers!!! :D

A day late? This fact wasn't known yesterday.

Hey, here's news. It isn't "late." It won't be "late" until midnight on December 31, 2018.

Very well spotted!
