Thanks. I’ll do that. Just waiting for my replacement to be delivered. Should be with me any second now… c’mon ups.

So no need to change the region on my iPhone?

If your luck is anything like mine, if the normal UPS guy comes around at 10AM, he will have a flat tire, a minor accident, run out of gas, and finally arrive around 10PM delivering your longly awaited goodie... *sigh*

So likely the short "delay" (in quotes, since they never promised it yesterday) was likely for marketing reasons. The release today came with a press release and article. I have no problem with that. They worked hard on this and should toot the horn a bit.

Will download tonight and try it out.

This is inaccurate. There is one kind of atrial fibrillation. It can behave differently and be there only sometimes or all of the time. It does not always cause symptoms but can always be detected IF having a EKG or wearing a monitor when it happens. Most people who think they have symptoms of afib more commonly have benign premature beats instead.

So you're saying regardless of the type of AFib(or just AFib like you say) it can always be detected when hooked to an EKG machine?

How is the ecg feature limited to the us? Does the watch check physical location to enable/disable it or is it tied to your Apple account region?

I really hope that we will be able to use it outside US. Bypass it somehow

Our driver just marks the package as "delivered" and then it may show up two days later. Or not at all.

It could also be that Apple didn't want to do an iOS release and Watch OS release on the same day, to help manage tech support issues that seem accompany updates.

...and server load?

Due to extreme regulatory sanctions by other countries, you can bet Apple will have this locked down pretty securely.

I totally agree, and I'm sure health regulation is a very intricate process, but the list of countries that AliveCor has gotten Kardia approved (or whatever the applicable term in various countries may be) is really impressive (and as some of you may remember, I'm not a Kardia fan-boy). If AliveCor can do that, Apple, with its huge healthcare initiative and massive human and cash resources, should be able to get this done pretty quickly?

Probably by region in Settings.

The only services I can think of that’s tied to Apple ID by region is the TV app, but that’s likely because it’s tied to iTunes.

Setting the device to the US region unlocks the News app, and Siri translation if you use its US version.

Just came to update that switching the region on Settings doesn’t work. I guess it’s tied to Apple ID.

I've been on the dev beta and now my watch app won't detect that it needs an update, same thing happened yesterday on my phone but it is conceivable that the last beta was the same build as what was released.

Remove the beta profile and try again.

I removed dev beta profile and watchOS update was found.

I just did my first 2 tests - really well done interface and experience - normal sinus rhythms for both thankfully :) - the app does a great job walking you through what it can and cannot detect. Also cool to see that there is an EKG complication now for the info faces, haven’t looked for the older faces.

Just did mine.

Well changing region on watch and iPhone doesn’t bring up the ecg. I do t understuwhy Apple needs any kind of regulatory approval? They clearly state that the Apple Watch isn’t a medical device.
