And yet you say "I wasn't leaving without my computer".

Doesn't sound very Mayberry to me.

I'm not so naive to not realize bad eggs can exist, even in the best of communities. The circumstances were suspicious,,, I went mentally prepared to deal with whatever situation presented itself. Is that really so hard for you to understand?

No. I just find it interesting that you find me jaded and "don't understand" life in a small town for saying I'd protect myself if I were the other guy, but you have no problem having the attitude that you're "not leaving without your computer".

It seems protecting your interests only counts when it's your own interests. Anyone else is being cynical or jaded. That's all I'm saying / seeing.

It all worked out and that's what counts. But it seems like it worked out despite just about everyone involved doing the WRONG thing.

Don't stress so over this, Salty. It was a happy ending. I got my computer,,, Junior got his,,, everyone met and parted on friendly terms,,, the driver messed up but **** happens,,, FedEx did well in there response and is pleased the other fella and I resolved the issue quickly. The only party out of the loop is Apple.

I really don't know what you know or don't about small town living, and don't believe I suggested I did. How could I, I don't know you from Adam. I don't harbor the negative impression of you that you seem to believe I do. Peace, my friend.

Considering I graduated HS in a class of less than 100 I know something of a small town. ;)

I'm not sure you realize how lucky you were. Especially since you are still following up with a complaint against Apple. Things could have gone a heck of a lot worse. I still don't see how you can expect an apple employee a thousand miles away to do anything more than exactly what they did, but that's your call to make. Me, I'd be too busy rejoicing in the fact that things worked out so well to waste time complaining to the one entity that had no way to resolve the problem. But, to each his own.

If you want to hear another story along the same lines, I was picking up a package in the UPS warehouse awhile back and a young man was trying to get a package from his parents. The young man was away going to college and there were valuables in the package so they had paid for the option to require a signature. What they didn't realize was that the signer had to be at least 18 and he was not yet. The package was sent to the address on his drivers license but UPS would not release it to him without a signature from someone over 18. Being a clever kid, he said "Could my *cough* uncle here (gesturing to me) sign for it? The UPS guy immediately says "sure, no problem". I checked out the addresses and names on the package and his drivers license and everything and went ahead and signed for him. Everybody was happy and no harm was done. Not sure how the heck the kid would have gotten the package otherwise.

Your claiming you never picked up the MP from the guy would probably have ended up with the FedEx driver having to pay for your MP, or his being fired, or both. Not funny at all. What if you were the poor FedEx driver who screwed up? How would you then feel if some stupid jerkoff tried to fraudulently screw with you?
Some joke.

My goodness. Some people are so up tight.

I am amazed this thread is up to 4 pages.
