Yes, I am in USA and had this issue with my launch day ASD running on 120V. This issue is not related to supply voltage - it’s related to the ASD not correctly filtering out dirty RF line noise.
Bear in mind that the issue is not necessarily sending the right voltage to the monitor. My amp would hum loudly when fed the exact voltage it demanded (230V) through an expensive mains regenerator. You could mitigate it by slightly under or over-voltage within the usual 10% spec.

So I went ahead and bought a ferrite bead. I didn't use it but I waited for my screen to start buzzing. It started buzzing but not as loud as usual. Anyway, I put this ferrite bead around the power cable and the buzzing stopped. So I guess this proves that there's dirt RF line noise on our circuit but even more so, it means the Studio Display isn't filtering that out at all.

Hopefully this means it's permanently fixed.

Can you link this "ferrite bead" here? I would also like to test this :D

Do you mind uploading a picture of how you placed the ferrite bead? I'm curious how it looks

It's what you can see via the Amazon link I posted above. You get one of these beads and then click it over the power cord.

I got mine 30 days ago and wasn’t sure where that buzzing sound came from or what caused it, finally it seems that i know the source. The display.
Sometimes it’s silent, sometimes is extremely annoying and loud. I need to turn the music on then but its burned into my brain already and i wasn’t sure if it was ever there really. I considered i had something wrong with my ears. Today i was in the bathroom and i heard that noise clear and loud in my head. But the mac was off and nothing was running in the bath. Later i turned on the display and there was no noise today. Sometimes is there and loud; sometimes its not there. I absolutely can’t trace and source or cause for this issue.
But is getting louder when i get closer to the display. When i press my ears against the display edges its going…. Bbbbrrrrbbbrrrr… it’s driving me insane!!
It start to hear that **** everywhere!
I’m very very sensitive to such stuff, my ears are very good and i can almost hear the squirrels fart in my garden.
Would never buy it agian. Big mistake. So expensive, yet so crappy.

I'm considering a Studio Display but I'm worried about this issue. I will return it immediately if it has any noise whatsoever. But I'm worried that the problem can get worse over time. Has anybody experienced that it was silent at first but then later started making noise?

So, I have had my ASD in continuous use for almost 1 month (14-16 hours a day, 7 days a week). The electrical hum is not audible unless you are standing behind the ASD or have the ASD facing the wall. Should the ASD be directly against the wall, you can hear it clearly and also in FaceTime call. :-(

The buzzing does not get louder, but also not quieter. The ASD will not break because of this, but for some this sound is unbearable. ;D

The electric buzz came with me at least immediately after connecting the ASD

You can buy the ASD and should he give such noises from himself, then return and search for a better alternative

I’ve been using an ASD for about a week and I haven’t heard any audible buzzing yet, even if I put my ear way up close.

What I have experienced is significant EMI picked up by my single-coil guitar pickups coming from the display. When I practice or record I have to turn the ASD brightness up pretty high for the interference sound to go away. Or move back like 4-5 feet.

My older monitors never produced any obnoxious EMI like this! I’m wondering if the ASD power supply is inadequately shielded.

Between this effect and the random dropping of my audio interface via the ASDs usb-c hub I’m not sure I want to keep it. Beautiful panel though.

Yes for sure. My worry is that it will start making noise after the 14 days return window.
I think it’s a design issue with the power supply, being noisy and susceptible to interference from other sources on the AC mains. If it’s not getting interference right away, it’s likely to not develop it. There’s been a few reports here of it starting up after some time, but the vast majority of the reports are people noticing the buzz immediately.

Edit: I will add that I have two Studio Displays (both in the same room on the same circuit) and have no such buzz. In the US on normal 110v household AC.

I've just got another ASD for the office. We have a few already and this is the first one from which I've heard this electrical buzzing. It persists even when I use it in the same electrical socket as one which doesn't buzz...

This is great news! (Well, not for you unfortunately). That means some are better than others and the buzzing could be due to poor quality control.

I just setup my new ASD. I have mixed feelings. When sitting in front of the display, I don't hear any noise. But if I place my ear close to the back or the top of the display there is definitely a buzzing. Normally I would probably say that is fine. But I do fear it might get worse over time. I really think a display at this price should be completely silent. I have not decided yet if I want to keep it.

I can hear the buzzing while just sitting in front of my display if there's no background noise. Every other ASD I've had has been utterly silent. I'll message Apple Support tomorrow.

Very unsuccessful first attempt with Apple Support to get anywhere really. Even after 20 minutes on chat, I'm 99% sure the agent still didn't know what an Apple Studio Display was. They kept asking questions about the sound from my Mac Studio... the macOS version on it... had I restored it etc..

I did keep explaining it was the monitor, not the Mac, but they just weren't getting it.

Its only a couple of weeks old so I'd really like to avoid having to take it in to an Apple Store...

This is the result when [stereotype warning]ginger bespectacled tech geniuses in yellow T shirts who eat sleep and dream tech[/stereotype warning] are too expensive to be employed on tech helplines, so you get someone only trained to choose one out of ten scripted answers based upon hearing two or three trigger-words in your whole sentence. Yet because most people calling helplines are technophobe dunces asking fundamentally stupid questions (ask me how I know), the hit rate of these scripted answers, delivered by someone who may not even understand the answer they are giving, is actually quite high.

Yip, I've worked in IT all my life and I got that sinking feeling after a couple of questions and responses where it was clear the agent had no idea what on earth was going on!

Apple tech support is awful. I've explained my problem so many times, but they just don't understand it, even though it's so simple.

Right now, the buzzing is getting on my nerves, but I can't do anything about it. Apple would “fix” the ASD, but I highly doubt it. Now I can live with a permanent tinnitus. ;D
