Vapor Comp Black/Blood Red

Bought this case and installed it on my new Sprint IPhone 4s. The plastic red side has a gap between phone and case. Not happy at all with the fit.
I have an email to element to see what they will do to correct this problem.
Beware when buying

Good luck - unfortunately the trials and tribulations of dealing with element are pretty well documented.

May want to give atomiciphonecase.com a look as well: while I've heard that some folks have had issues with their customer service, I've found both their products and support to be exemplary. However, as with anything, individual user experience may vary!

Yea, look at the pictures I posted in the atomic thread just now and then tell me that. Your crazy if you think there is even a comparison between the two cases. I took numerous pictures to prove it!!

And the element shill returns!

As mentioned in the other thread which you so kindly hijacked, I've also done side by sides (posted in a review a long, LONG time ago) and had a far superior performance from the hybrid. I also don't consider .8 MS to be a huge enough difference on a ping test to qualify it as "suck".

That having been said, as mentioned in my earlier post in THIS thread too, plenty of folks have had complaints about both companies customer service, I simply throw the atomic one out there as another option of similar design.

I happen to really, REALLY love the look of the element spectra...and that's certianly not a design that I've seen anywhere else (putting aside the cheap piece of crap knockoffs on ebay).

Best bet, with any of these case manufacturers is patience and persistence. Eventually you'll get your case and/or answers and hopefully be satisfied with what you get!

Customer Services

Well I purchased my Vapor Comp Black/Red from gearmoxie.com.
I emailed them about the problem with the fit on the Sprint iPhone 4s. I recieved an email back stating they will help out to send me a Vapor Pro that should fit better.
Apparently the plastic part does not fit well on either the iphone 4 and 4s
I am happy so far the way they are handling the problem

GearMoxie and ElementCase are one & the same, but CSR might be handled by different people.

The fact that plastic isn't flush with the side of a case has been brought up in reviews and previous comments. Some don't seem to be bothered by it, but others are more sensitive to it.

Apparently, it's more of a design issue than measurements. Metal sides also have a gap, but it's noticeable only on the plastic piece because it's not as rigid. Probably, an easiest solution for EC would be to add a little bump on the inside in the middle of the plastic section and this way flex will be less noticeable (it's easier to flex a longer piece of plastic than a short one).

I'm still waiting on my 4S, but if this ends up bothering me, I'll probably put in a small hard-plastic dot or something else to make it work.

Ordered a Vapor Pro Chroma on AliExpress from Jacky Lin @ XunJinDa Electronics Technology Co., Ltd.

Paid for faster DHL. Has anyone bought from this seller? Any reviews on quality? Hope I chose the right seller. He had great communication, and pics look good.

do you have any pics?

i am interested to know because the fake ones either have a smaller plastic insert, and some have the longer insert (like OEM). I prefer the longer plastic insert so was wondering what this seller is selling?!

The insert was small but I got this a while ago (3 months ??) and it was as described in the pics. I see that a lot of the sellers are now selling Pros with the longer insert. I dont have one of these. I will probably order a white version with the longer insert soon from AliExpress.

As long as you get him to show you actual pics of the case and it shows the longer insert, you will be fine. The seller seemed to be very honest in my dealings with him, i got exactly what he showed me in actual pics. And the quality of the case was very good. No flaws. Me and a friend have used ours for 3 months + and it seems durable, no scratches or gouges or discoloration. We got the silver/silver and black/black.

does this fit the iphone 4s?

The mute switch on the iphone 4s (like the verizon iPhone 4) is lower, so yes the case will fit the iPhone 4s. There is one big cutout for the mute switch and volume buttons, so the cutout works for both the iphone 4 and 4s versions.

As far as signal and GPS reception, I had no issues with the non-OEM case. Several users had reported the OEM version to have GPS issues.

How these cases will work on the iPhone 4s remains to be seen from upcoming reviews, but the iPhone 4s seems to have solved antenna problems, so these cases should work fine.

Sorry if this is a dumb question... What plastic insert? I don't know what is short and what is long for me to be able to distinguish. Can you guys reference an image of each?

I have contacted the seller to see if it is the longer insert and asked for some pictures. Thanks.

The long plastic (transparent) part (see pic above) will stretch to where it says Vapor Pro. The Short one does not as shown below :

as above :).

i definitely have a fake one as the plastic insert is short (got it on ebay a few weeks ago for £30).

The OEM vapor pro's have the long plastic insert, so it is much better to get a 'fake' one from one of these sellers on aliexpress that have the longer plastic inserts as they will literally be indistinguishable from the real things.

Thanks for the info! From the detailed pics on the auction page, it appears to the the long insert:

So far so good. His auction claims "The best quality on aliexpress!!!" Hopefully he is right. :) Ill let you guys know more details once it comes in. Thanks for all the help!

Actually Element did make the short insert for the original "First Edition" version.....but they switched to the longer insert pretty soon after that.

It would be nice if Element would ship the day you ordered, or at least answer your email! I know the product is good but paying for overnight shipping when they can't get it out the door on the 4th day after I ordered is stupid!

If you choose free shipping they will mail it out same day, if you choose next day they wait til day 5 so that all customers receive their package at the same time. They want to treat everyone equally, I called about it and that was the answer I got.
