Why the heck bother reading or responding at all.

Three posts to save you time:

A: Musk is the devil
B: Musk is a genius
C. There is nuance here that should be considered.

A+B: “shut up C!”

🤣

Mods? I wish you luck. <3

Hive mind. They all have the same exact thoughts on everything, it is scary.
What's so polarizing about all of this is that the same can be said about "both sides" as there are "Fine People on Both Sides" that made great points*

*denotes sarcasm

From my experiences on social media and in person--

-A "Left Wing" person tends to be a free spirit or maybe an artist, someone who enjoys reading and maybe they're a member of the LGTBQ+ community. Generally wanting folks to not have to pay for healthcare and just want everyone to be accepted. Most of them keep their thoughts to themselves unless provoked, but will still firmly stand by their beliefs.

-A "Right Wing" person tends to be very "You are either with us or against us" and pushes their specific type of religion on others, implying it's the only option. They seem to enjoy taking away rights and freedoms from women, people of color, and people in the LGTBQ+ community. And for some reason really want people to have to pay a 3rd party insurance company to decide whether you'll have to pay more for healthcare. They also drive around with obscenities on their cars and (mostly large) trucks about ***** 'Brandon' or some stupid phrase they're desperately trying to make seem cool. They'll also be ever so quick to point out without asking with whom their political affiliation stands.

-A Centrist doesn't really exist. It's an ebb & flow that's leaning one way or the other. Lately, people are getting tired of lies & fascism. People are keeping quiet because they're tired of violence. These are "centrists". They're really just Right or Left leaning still.

Tell me you know nothing about Elon without telling me you know absolutely nothing.
1) Tell me you know nothing about me and why I posted my joke without telling me you know nothing about me.
2) My joke is a modernization of an older joke (using millions instead of billions). The actual amount Elon Musk is worth is irrelevant. [Foghorn Leghorn voice] Because it is a joke, son. [/Foghorn Leghorn voice]

The First Amendment view of free speech is the only widely accepted definition. Meaning, the limits on speech are placed on the government and not on private parties.

You aren’t required to hand out flyers to your family with nudes from the guy next door who sees his nudes as freedom of speech and your family as people who absolutely has to see them. WalMart isn’t required to post his nudes in the isles either nor are they required to let him get a megaphone and stand in the middle of the store talking about his sad sexual conquests. You and others would find it offensive and are within your rights to tell him to piss off. He is free to get his megaphone and stand in front of City Hall and do it though...

I definitely don’t support forcing every website or online entity to carry any and all “speech”. I’m not interested in turning on Netflix and seeing Porn Hub content. Nor am I interested in logging on to Mac Rumors to be bombarded with snuff films… If I were into those things I can go to their communities for it… Just like if I wanted Android content I could go to an android focused website…

It is frustrating that there is so much confusion on basic civil concepts like freedom of speech. I used to believe that technology and access to the entirety of humanity’s knowledge would open the wealth of our specie’s knowledge to all. It is now abundantly clear that all that has occurred is people with marginal intellectual capacity are drowning in the ocean. Sadly, you appear to be one of them. I hope we find a way to throw you, and others, a life raft before it is too late.
The first ammendment guarantees free speech. It is not in and of itself free speech. My goodness, this is BASIC knowledge.

Everybody should be in favor of ensuring we have the same rights online as we do in the physical world. If you’re not in favor of such a basic human right, then you’ve got something nefarious up your sleeve. Full stop.

Where are you getting the information that he supposedly inherited money from his parents?

Everything I have read online has said that he is, in fact, a self made billionaire.

Just to be clear, you think Elon Musk, whose parents benefited from apartheid in South Africa had no advantages? And further, you think his investments in companies such as Tesla are evidence of his genius and self-made status?

The more relevant conversation is what we should value in society. Liberals, such as yourself apparently, equate wealth with success and intelligence. I reject that, but I guess you love kowtowing to the rich.

Can you describe what "left" is exactly? And how the playing field has been leveled? I am genuinely curious.
It’s very obvious that almost all of the posts and accounts that were deleted or banned were from right leaning accounts. Almost all, if not all, of the accounts that were banned by Pre-Elon Twitter and were restored by Elon were right leaning. The bias of the previous moderating staff at Twitter is very cLear and obvious. Can you name any pro-Democrat accounts that were banned by Twitter previously?

The old "I was totally wrong with what I said so let me play it off as a joke" move.

His dad gave him $28,000 to start Zip2. It’s not like he was poor, or couldn’t get whatever money he needed from his parents
He was literally in debt from student loans when he went to college. And he has no relationship with his dad.

And even if what you said was true, I'd love to see how many people could turn $28k into hundreds of billions of dollars. It doesn't change the fact he is a self made billionaire which is what I originally said.

This is a dumb take when TRUTH SOCIAL is in the App Store.
I know you think you’ve “owned” me with this comment, but you’ve actually just proved my point even further. It makes absolutely zero sense for Apple to consider removing Twitter from the App Store when Twitter is in clear compliance with Apple’s terms of service.

Liberals loved Trump up until he ran for election as a Republican, Liberals loved Elon even bought his cars up until he showed signs of leaning right. See a pattern?

Content moderation can never please all. My Twitter experience hasn't changed at all since the acquisition. Are people seeking out a problem with him specifically I wonder. As in they don't like what he stands for?
It will take time to get AI to get "rubbish" of the platform but it's a constant moving target while ppl try to get around it - like an example in this ArsTechnica article.

So you are saying they were banned for no reason? Is that what you believe?

Must suck being a democrat right now. I couldn’t imagine defending policies of a party that mirror the Chinese government.

My how has the narrative shifted since musk’s control. And with the Twitter files about to drop, it’ll get even juicier.

Maybe you should read what the Constitution actually says. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech..." It 'guarantees' it insofar as Congress cannot make a law against it. That does not mean you get to say whatever you want wherever you want without consequence. If you come into my house saying things I don't like and I tell you to leave, then tough, go find a willing audience somewhere else.

Apple bends to the will of China even at the expense of the people fighting for their freedom. It definitely makes one question their commitment to freedom and liberty for all. Let it be known that money and resources are more important to Apple.

He was in debt when he went to college due to student loans, he started with nothing... actually less than nothing. So you obviously are wrong there.

If Twitter is further publishing user content which is outright illegal, Apple and Google are not going to want any liability for such things, nor are they going to want their reputation affected by allowing things like child pornography and hate speech on their platform.

Unfortunately, the people at Twitter who could have explained this to Elon were all likely fired. These are the same rules the various App Stores apply to everyone.

Is there evidence that hate speech and child pornography is going to be allowed on Twitter?
