So if someone you didn't know took offence to you for the most trivial of reasons, and came up to you in the street and said they hoped you were eaten by sharks, you'd given them a hug and thank them for standing up agains't strange community guidelines like respecting others opinions and having the capacity to disagree and behave like a grown up doing it.
I actually told my wife that for all I care she can feed me to the sharks. Of course I had to be very very clear that I was talking in the context of post death burial, and to be safe I specified that I have to be already dead.

Not really sure what anyone expected. This is Twitter's fault and their fault alone. They could have walked away when Musk backed out of the agreement but they decided instead to try and have a sideshow trial enforcing the sale. They got what they asked for so not sure why anyone has any issue with this sale.

Whatever happens to Twitter is because of their own doing.

Do you really think education makes people less emotional? Emotions are part of being human, so do you want a site just full of bots? Twitter is already halfway there 😁
I never said more education makes people less emotional. I said we needed a more educated, less emotionally charged populace.

Emotion is part of the human experience, but not enough people are able to separate their emotion from their ability to think calmly and rationally about subjects.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. – Aristotle

I think too many people today are too afraid to even entertain thoughts they disagree with, whether lightly or vehemently.

Please let me know how should a black person should ”separate their emotion from their ability to think calmly and rationally” about the n-word?

How about a Jewish person being “too afraid to even entertain the thought” of the Holocaust being a lie?

How about LGBT people entertaining thoughts that literally see them as less than human?

You sound like someone who’s never had your identity attacked by the system and unable to emphatize why some people would not have tolerance for such talk.

It‘s easy to be “calm and rational“ when you and/or your loved ones are not under threat or attack.

They've gone global? Is it a franchise deal?
Do Democrats care more about national issues - declining life expectancy, ballooning drug deaths and an open border, skyrocketing energy prices - or do they care more about global issues - climate change, green energy, other countries' citizens? Pretty clearly, it's the latter that they are interested in. Democrats would prefer that those who are not part of the bicoastal technocrat elite drop dead.

My thought is that people that spew racist hate should be very clearly made aware it's not socially okay or accepted to be racist, yet their only response is a horrible misunderstanding of what free speech is and that it somehow validates them. Some people only learn by being literally hit with a stick(ban) as they refuse to learn through words they dont want to hear.

Today "boomer" is even used as an insult by the left, although boomers are just people born in a certain time. The same goes for "cis man", who just is a man who sees himself as a man. Also "old white man" is an insult today. What is wrong about being old and white? That is why I have a problem with all that wokeness.
Nobody has a problem with those individually. It’s the “culture” behind Boomers, Cis, etc.

There is a valid reason for me to take offence. She attacked the my generation and the one of my parents. She even argued that old people should no longer decide the future of the world, because they will die soon anyway. That is pure evil. That woman does not need a therapist, but an exorcist.

On the woke side of the spectrum people are offended much more easily. Suddenly it is racism if you make a parody of a black celebrity and therefore dress as him, copy his hair style and also change your skin colour to look like him. Today it also is offensive to address a man as "him", after he decides that he is a woman from now on. If you don't, they accuse you of "deadnaming". The language police also gets worse every year. Disabled people have to be called "challenged" or something like that.

Of course there many far right people who were banned from Twitter. Those people now went to other places like Telegram. So if you want to go to a place with little to no censorship, you will end up at an app with all those far right idiots. It reminds me of the time when Rudi Guiliani fought crime so much in New York City, that many criminals moved to nearby places. So Newark became more dangerous. If now one of the famous main stream social networks gets free of censorship, that is a big step forward.

Wow, suddenly you go from playful banter about Twitter users being robots to pulling out every possible "worst case scenario" to counter a more peaceful approach I believe in.

You're letting your emotions cloud your thoughts. Maybe take a break and have a cup of tea while you partake of nature, eh?

Elon Musk has completed his $44 billion takeover of Twitter and instated himself as CEO, just hours before a court-ordered deadline to buy the business expired, according to multiple reports.

twitter-elon-musk.png

In a reference to Twitter's logo, billionaire Musk tweeted "the bird is freed," after reportedly firing several top executives, including the chief executive, Parag Agrawal. Musk earlier changed his Twitter bio to "Chief Twit."

Other senior figures ousted by Musk reportedly included Ned Segal, chief financial officer, and Vijaya Gadde, head of legal policy, trust, and safety.

The finalized deal caps a chaotic acquisition saga that began with Musk originally offering to buy Twitter for $44 billion in April – a deal that Twitter accepted – before Musk in May put the takeover "temporarily on hold" because of a dispute over the number of fake or spam accounts that Twitter claimed to have.

In July, Musk decided he no longer wanted to buy Twitter and attempted to call off the purchase. Twitter in turn filed a lawsuit to force Musk to go on with the sale. By October, Musk once again reversed course by proposing a purchase at the original price.

Musk's executive firings followed news last week that the billionaire planned to slash Twitter staff numbers by 75% in an effort to pay down the company's debt burden. Musk later dismissed those reports, saying he would not cut that amount of employees.

Attention now turns to Twitter's future direction, and how Musk's plans will affect the social media platform with more than 230 million users. "The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence," he said in a statement posted to his Twitter account on Thursday. Musk continued:
Musk ended by stating his belief that advertising, when done right, can "delight, entertain, and inform," and that Twitter aspires to be "the most respected advertising platform in the world."

Aside from "open border" being a lie, please state ANYTHING Republicans have done about any of the other things. They are against any form of better access to healthcare. It was Trumps horrible OPEC negotiations that put us in our position with oil prices. It was Regans Republicans that started the whole Crack issue in the US (feel free to research that one). Hell Republicans even voted against making it cheaper for Kids to get lunches in schools. Trump talked about Infrastructure, for 4 years, did nothing about it.

Please I'll wait while you name ANYTHING Republicans have done to try to help America that isn't hidden behind some failed renaming of Trickledown Economics that failed like 3-4 times now, and we are STILL paying back on.

And for the record, Climate Change, green energy, and helping other countries DO have impacts on how things in the US go. its almost like global issue have global effects, and the US is part of the globe. Strange I know.

Not long ago the N-word was not an insult in Germany. It only got an insult when some people decided that the word is forbidden now. I still remember when the German president visited Washington D.C. and and a major German news show reported about how he chatted with a n.....r on the street. They used that word, because 20 years ago it was just a normal word to describe a black person. Now the same word can get you into jail for hate speech.

I think it's fantastic. I think Elon is a complicated and yes deeply flawed individual but he passionately believes in all of his companies, and they are changing the world, mostly for the better. Twitter is such a great idea, but it has floundered for many years, its workforce has lost its way and innovation has ceased. It has failed in its efforts to be a town hall for the world and found itself using the reasonable thought of protecting the platform from illegal or dangerous ideology to instead more broadly prevent *any* ideology or belief that doesn't represent that of Twitter's founders and workplace from being heard. There is a difference, and I think Elon knows it. Perhaps this will end up being the dumpster fire many predict, but what I know now is Twitter will see massive changes for the first time in many years, Elon doesn't suffer endless meetings and excessive group think. Let's see what happens, I'm excited because Twitter was going nowhere in 2022.

I also never had my identity attacked by the system in a meaningful way. Just trying to show you some cases where it would be normal to be emotional. Don’t know why you thought I was being emotional when stating some examples.

I don’t need a cup of tea, thanks for the suggestion anyway.

By the way telling people to “calm down” is not a meaningful retort to their arguments. Still awaiting your reponse to such cases, which happen daily on Twitter by the way…It’s not a “worst case scenario” if it happens daily is it?

Cheap gas and the ability to date the guy I want, is far more important than any form of health care or forced routine medical examinations just to be employed.

Being normal didn't make it okay. That is the flaw in your reasoning.

US still has some of the cheapest gas in the developed world. We just so spoiled over here we dont know how good we've had it.

It is all comes down to the education of the individual.

The real evil guy is not going to use the n-word instead he will tell you with a polite smile: "Go and punch your white teacher(you know for the years of oppression)." The evil subliminal message here: "Don't get education, join a gang, I want you to be easily controlled and manipulated by me(including whom you should vote for etc.)".

I asked a pretty simple straightforward question and got as a response a tangential irrational rant including conspiracy theories about Ronald Reagan (who, by the way, hasn't been president for 33 years and has been dead for 18 years.)

Have a nice day. :)

So....stating facts is a rant and you cant disagree with anything I said... gotcha.

My point was that it was never meant as an insult. It just was a neutral word for people with dark skin. Today it is seen as an insult, even if it still is not meant to be one. What is very racist is the idea that black people can use that word, but white people can't. If it really is an insult, why do some black people even use it for their friends?
