Gross. This story brought out all the Macrumors forum members that I left Apple Insider to avoid.

I'm guessing that if Twitter allows racist, threatening and insulting language to become the norm on the site, people of good character (and advertisers) will leave the site in droves, leaving it just another parlor and truth. I'm sure Musk knows this, so all these people who want to "let it all hang out" will be hugely disappointed.
I’m not assuming there’s any logic or sensibility present in Musk’s brain anymore. His behavior reeks of social skills deficits; most notably privileged narcissism.

I really don’t know much about it, I just recently watched this video by physicist Sabine Hossenfelder. Something about sacrificing people living today for the future of humanity a billion years into the future.

Sounds like the kind of philosophy authoritarians might propose, to defend the “hard choices” that they’ll happily make for other people (you know… “those people”…) to “better the species in the long term”…

He lost billions on the sale in the end, he may as well have driven a used car off the lot. He already has advertisers questioning him and his "free speech" policy of letting extremists scream fire in a theater will turn it into another Truth Social dumpster fire.

Twitter has already tried this model and it did not work out well for them, which is why they had to eventually put rules into place. There's a difference between free speech and hate speech, in the end it will come down to whether or not advertisers will allow it, looking at the latest Kanye debacle we can assume they're having none of it.

Exactly. There's a reason your local bar doesn't have "Tuesday is Nazi night, $2 drafts for anyone in an SS costume."

It took a while for the Zuckwit to see through the "we're just normies with a few questions" mask of the Holocaust deniers. Same I think with Jack Dorsey. But but but it's just speech, say the racists.

Where do you disagree with Musk’s moderation policy?

So since Elon took over, n-word usage is up 500% …
And over to Saudi Arabia, who is now the most significant non-Musk owner.

Everyone can take a deep breath.

I'm sure advertisers are lining up for this new Twitter...good luck selling ads to anyone other than that mypillow guy Elon:

This is so great. Twitter was a tool to spread woke ideology and censored any opposing opinions. I got banned from Twitter for 30 days for writing that each time I see Greta Thunberg trending, I hope that she got eaten by sharks.

If a private platform is a place were hundreds of millions communicate, it should not have the power to censor anything based on strange "community guidelines". Otherwise these problem pose a great thread to democracy. The funny thing is that people from the left see it as a threat if those platform do NOT censor content. Since when was having NO censorship a threat to democracy?

I also got banned from Facebook when I wrote something like "I do not like modern women. They only focus on their career. So I swipe left if a woman has a job. Those women should better marry their boss. That helps boosting their career". That post may be controversial and women might not like it, but on woke platforms like Facebook it is enough to get banned for a while. I hope Twitter will be different now.
It was NEVER a private platform prior to the sale. It was publicly traded and publicly accessible.

This so called “some ideology” something far rightists have coined “woke” and used exhaustingly I might as is spread everywhere because more and more people are sick of the norm that wasn’t working for the majority of the population. That scare people into realizing old world power and influences would loose their foot hold.

A publicly traded company does not make it publicly owned. It is still a private entity. Therefore Twitter like FaceBook are private platforms and not controlled by a government.

What the hell is “woke ideology”?

And why do you wish for a young girl who has more balls and brains than every conservative in the universe to be killed?

This is what we can expect to see twitter full of now.
Isnt the point that he wants to be allowed to say that without being banned, just as you can say your opinion without being banned, and the whole point of the discussion is that people should be exposed to each others ideas even if they find them reprehensible so that they can engage in constructive conversation and not hide away in an echo chamber becoming more and more divided and without exposure to others views becoming more and more sensitive to and unaccommodating of other viewpoints?

And your reading of his message may be that he is wishing for a young girl to be killed. My reading was that he doesnt like her for whatever reason and gets frustrated from seeing her her name. "Being eaten by sharks" in my reading, was satirical and obviously not literal. That you either interpreted it as literal, or at least publicly pretended to, is, to me, just evidence that we do all need to be exposed to different views and people more than we currently are.

This should be a notice call to all executives who do not provide a potential buyer with ALL the exact and precise information they ask for. If you annoy/piss off the buyer expect to be fired once the buyout has been completed.

Somebody calling for someone to be killed is not "engaging in constructive conversation" and should not be tolerated by the platform, especially not in the name of "engaging in constructive conversation."

And "oh oh it was just a joke, our joke about the target of our venom getting killed, just a joke, just a joke" -- explain that one to Nancy Pelosi's husband.

Sorry I dont know who Nancy Pelosi is or her husband, so I dont understand well.

My point was simply that we all interpret everything in our world. There is no objective universal truth when it comes to hearing and understanding words. Your interpretation is no more valid than anyone else's. I am not the poster who said about the sharks. I barely know who the poster was talking about. Im from a non-English speaking country, and I dont use Twitter or social media, I dont have a horse in this race. I dont know if they were joking or not, and I am not saying they were. But I do appreciate nuanced communication. And I do wish for people to be more nuanced in their views. And with that context, I was saying that my interpretation was that they were speaking in a satirical manner, I received their words as an absurdity. You received it as them calling for somebody to be killed (presumably calling the sharks to do the killing?). Both of our interpretations are equally valid, and we should both have the chance to present our thoughts to the other.

Let’s not forget that this purchase wasn’t made with Elon’s money. He bought it with loans and the money speculators put into his company.

He told lies for years about Tesla’s roadmap.

Overhyped products that didn’t even release.

Manipulated the stock price and got rich allies to help him pump up the value.

And then dictators and con artists helped him make the final purchase of Twitter.

You have literally confirmed two theocracies, one international money laundering racket, and several Putin allies on the list.

Also Larry Ellison has lost his mind too. These people are not your friends.

Elon Musk's obvious emotional intelligence is that of a child. Most likely a byproduct of his ASD, specifically his Aspergers.
