Why would you need to go to Apple Campus and walk around to talk about your app being potentially pulled?

As for apps, this was much to do about nothing. Apple has always carefully curated their App Store, and they have every right to do so. They don't allow porn apps. Why? Because they don't want people browsing through the App Store being inundated with certain images. Apple knows some of their customers aren't bothered by this content, and Apple knows that there are others that don't want to see it in the App Store....even if they watch it in their browser. This policy might actually cost Apple some revenue, but Apple wants to protect its brand. So, they made a business decision to not allow certain apps on their platform. If Apple decides that an app is not compatible with their marketing strategy, they aren't obligated to let it on their platform. At this time, it sounds like Apple doesn't intend to remove Twitter, but if it becomes a cesspool of hate, they have every right to remove it from the App Store.

Now, any decision Apple makes will have consequences that might gain or lose customers. Apple and their shareholders will have to live with those results.

Don't pretend that removing Twitter wouldn't be a) completely unprecedented, and b) one of the largest salvos fired in the culture wars in history.

Sure, it's arguably within their right to do, but it would be absolutely bananas, and the fact they were never considering doing it in the first place is not surprising.

Because Elon Musk and Tim Cook are both incredibly experienced CEOs, one of the richest companies in the world, and the other the richest businessman in the world, and they both know the value of face to face communication.

This is how you get things done.

Has Apple said they are considering it?

"...Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so."

So where did Elon 'hear' this? Couldn't he have called Tim Cook to clear this up before he went on a public rant.

When they started banning speech and images. I think it was stupid to ban Trump (Parlor). I don’t care what the reasoning was. Banning Trump did little to stop his message and only infuriated 40% of the Americans who feel that Apple is censoring conservative speech.

Right or wrong that is what people felt.

Again, I’m not commenting on the reasoning or the right or wrong. I’m simply saying that BigTech would do everyone a service if they left the politics to the politicians.
That wasn’t Apple.
People keep saying Apple are considering banning Twitter. And then they rubbish about Apple constraining free speech etc.

That only works if Apple actually did that. Which they haven’t. It’s a fantasy propagated by people her.

At this time, I agree it is premature to remove the Twitter app. But, Musk has cut staff to the bone, and at some point, content moderation could be depleted to the point that Twitter becomes a cesspool of hate and lies. It is amazing how fast this crap can propagate and snuffs out other content. If this happens, Apple will have a decision to make, which they are well within their rights to do. Anyway, we aren't there....yet.

I can NOT believe that the tech car of the future doesn’t have CarPlay in it.

I’d be so bothered if I had a Tesla
I have a Tesla and I have CarPlay. Granted, it didn't come from the factory, but a clever dedicated developer created a brilliant solution.

The previous version of Twitter was filled with CSAM that the former Trust and Safety people refused to remove, Musk's version is actually purging that filth.

Pardon me if I think a few 'mean tweets' are a fair price to pay for that.
A few mean tweets?

Keep these hateful tweets going and I will be happy to see Twitter off the AppStore.

Again, IMO what people do with their own money in private is their decision. My concern is the following:

The country, and the world, is unfortunately very divisive. Why alienate people and hurt your branding and profitability so you can “be right”?

I own two businesses and serve all people ensuring that my political beliefs do not affect my business or my relationships with clients.

40% hardcore left | 40% hardcore right | 20% independent. Just keep your mouth shut and focus on making your PRODUCT better.

Look, I get it. But some people are just built different. Some people are just going to speak their mind and they don't care about respectability or fitting in or being divisive. They think speaking their mind is just more important, consequences be damned. And nothing you or I could ever do would ever shut them up.

I don't think people who are divisive in the way Elon Musk or Steve Jobs is actually a bad thing.

But the general divide in social media, media, and politics that has gotten alarmingly worse in the last 10 years is definitely a bad thing.

The way that normal people are pulled into fighting about politics constantly and having their political ideology be the only lens through which they view the world is the main problem I think. And actually, it's why I stopped using Twitter. I'm back on there now because this is all just too big and fun to watch, but I don't know how much longer I can be exposed to these culture wars constantly. It stops me from being creative.

What does Elon Musk hope to accomplish by pandering to right wing maga followers? Does he think it will help Tesla sell more electric vehicles and solar panels? It hasn't worked on people such as Marjorie Green, Lauren Bobert or Trump who continue to spread lies about EVs and solar energy. Does Musk think the pandering will reduce the occurrences of road ragers harassing drivers of Tesla and other EVs:

Do those anti-EV road ragers even know that Musk is the CEO of Tesla, or do they know it but perform mental gymnastics in order to simultaneously believe contradictory ideas?

This really depends on what you consider to be right, far right, MAGA etc. What Elon has been saying since he bought Twitter appeals to me because free speech and censorship are really important to me.

If the democratic party was a party in my country, I wouldn't vote for them because they're too far to the right of me. So it's quite possible that there is a vast chunk of people who really are centre or centre left and also agree with what he's saying.

I don't know what painting him as far right really accomplishes.

I'm not sure I buy it. Not a word from Apple about the whole thing. Personally I think this is Musk backtracking on a dumb move with his largest advertiser.

And I don't think we'll hear a word about it from Apple in the future regarding this episode.

Anyone check the EXIF in those photos BTW? NM, they are just screen shots so could be from any time he might have been there.

Tim Cook delicately managing a relationship with a mercurial, thin-skinned billionaire who prefers public fights and fact-free grandstanding. Sounds awfully familiar but I can’t put my finger on it.

Reminds of Tim Apple and the Orange stable genius.
