Musk doesn’t need to make a platform. He just bought one.
For now he's bought nothing more than a stake (and I seriously doubt a full takeover will go through)
In suspect, as others do, "Plan B" will be "he'll go create a platform"

The OP mentioned that people were being censored due to their political opinions/ideas. The majority of people being removed from Twitter have been those supporting racism, misinformation, and bigotry. I wanted to understand if that individual felt that those were just political opinions/ideas.Wut. That escalated quickly.
Not Twitter, but Tesla. ?Like most other people I knew at MIT, Elon is a moron when it comes to understanding human beings. The best thing that could come of this is the final and total collapse of Twitter.
He has a ton of much cheaper options (Truth, Gettr, Gab, etc.) that have loosely committed to not censoring any hate speech, I don't see why he wouldn't go that route. My guess is that nobody has been successful in getting people to those platforms and knows that he likely would have the same problem starting his own from scratch.I would love it if Elon created his own version of Twitter
Getting the Teslarati & Muskrats off Twitter would improve the experience for the rest of us.
Just wait when he teams up with Peter Theil and increase the bid. Buckle upFor now he's bought nothing more than a stake (and I seriously doubt a full takeover will go through)

That’s cool. I like the direction Elon is headed. Watch his TED talk he gave today - open source algorithms, lawful content.Fine if he does - your missing my point though.
Twitter will, not overnight, but eventually, cease to have the reach he's looking for if he tries to turn into something with rules he prefers.
Free speech is what he wants. It would be great if it happens.I don't understand your reply
Musk should for sure make his own platform if he would prefer it to operate differently - way way cheaper!
A key reason he doesn't -- is that Twitter is appealing because of the reach.
The reach is really hard to replicate. I think if he made his own, he'd find out pretty quickly that a huge segment of the world doesn't agree with his particular ways of operation and won't use it -- and thus he won't have the same reach.
tldr -- this is just a classic case of "billionaire wants it their way ... and is trying to purchase their way to getting what they want"
1st Amendment - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.Free speech is what he wants. It would be great if it happens.

It's so interesting to me that many have such strong opinions about "Twitter is bad - KILL IT!"
The whole experience there is about how you use it -- who you follow -- how you choose to engage (or not) there.
For popular/famous people, it's the same as walking into a crowded shopping mall (you get mobbed from all directions, good and bad)
But for the rest of us (I presume basically everyone here) -- it can be as good or bad as you choose to make it.
Perfectly legal. We just need free speech back. The guy who sues people for defamation?
I don't want Twitter dead, just want an open stable platform where the "real" rules are known.

They do have their own.I think the key here is that no one platform is likely to ever allow all things for everyone.
The world really would be better off here if the Trumps and Elons and all the characters unhappy with Twitter -- made their own!
I maintain that the only reason they don't -- is the reach of Twitter.
Sincerely, I hope Elon makes his own and it breaks off a faction that goes over there.
Less centralization of thought is really better for everyone.
They do have their own.
TruthSocial and we know how well/successful that is.

...
Agreed. He actually has a very large position in the company already. He is bascially pumping the stock so he can dump it on the offer denial. He is screwing with the SEC yet again to show that its prosecution of him for his twitter manipulations of TSLA stock is a joke. He is just doing the same thing here ... but this time within the parameters of the law. It's a joke. The offer is a joke.
His proposal was priced at $54.20 per share, which includes the digits 420, a number associated with marijuana that Musk has used as frequent fodder in his online trolling.
