There's nothing wrong with profit or being cash rich as a company. For example how do you know they are not going to build their own semiconductor fab line to isolate them from the rest of the market which has a massive capital cost?
What does that have to do with Apple’s cut of IAP? Btw, when the App Store first launched Steve Jobs said Apple’s plan was to run it at break even. Heck even Phil Schiller questioned if 30% could last for ever in an email to other Apple execs.

Elon Musk's car prices are higher then they should be too. I think he should sell his cars for cost. LITERALLY.

Considering Tesla's considerable build-quality issues, you are right. We (as in humanity) should be concentrating on building plug-in+series-hybrids anyway; 99% of the benefits of pure electric with effectively none of the downsides of pure electric. Tesla may have greatly delayed the adoption of cleaner cars by pushing the pure-electric bandwagon over solutions that are simultaneously better for the majority of buyers and more affordable.

Once the regulators across the world force Apple to allow alternate app stores, maybe he wants to start his own app store on iOS and charge 3% commission? That would be really good.

A bit rich coming from the person that refuses to let CarPlay and Android Auto into the Telsa eco system and also limits the access to parts of third party repair shops. In particular battery cells. It rather sells you a new US$18,000 battery than allowing specialist shops to replace single cells for as little as US$900.

Talk about walled garden...

I never miss Steve Jobs more than in moments like this. He would have given jerks like Musk the appropiately acerbic answer.
Actually I believe if Steve Jobs would be still around Apple would have bought Tesla a long time ago. I know the attempt was made at some point by Tim Cook without success. Given Steve Jobs track record of closing impossible deals the likely hood it would have happened is pretty high.

I assume the EQS will overtake Tesla as the king of luxury EVs.

Take any of the major European / US / Asia manufacturers ... they have been like sleeping giants when it comes to electric cars. However those giants just woke up. Unless Tesla steps up it's quality control while massively dropping price it will become insignificant in the not too distant future.

Most Asian (especial Toyota) and European cars would run circles around a Tesla when it comes to quality. Prices are also already looking to be significantly more affordable than a Tesla model. I'd expect that to improve further as capacity increases.

Walled garden…Ha!

Let’s not forget that Tesla
• No support for salvage cars
• Right to repair is abysmal
• A charging network that excludes non Tesla EV’s

Sounds as though he likes a walled garden more than he cares to admit.

Elon promised us a 30k Tesla. It's 60k now and it no longer comes with radar, passenger power lumbar, or a charger. He also has as many vaporware models right now (cybertruck, semi, roadster) as models he actually ships. The dude is more Apple than Apple.

Elon Musk: “we would never create a walled garden”.

Also Elon Musk: “No, you’re not allowed to charge your Mercedes in our charger betwork”.

Right? how many non tesla cars use tesla's OS? how many non-tesla cars can use tesla's self driving algorithm? can I install non tesla software mods to a model 3 without voiding the warranty?

I can’t figure out why there’s over 287 comments of people so upset at what Elon said.

I mean….did he say something that wasn’t true? Everything he said was absolutely accurate.

So you agree with his point regarding Apple then?

I know people are jealous of Elon, but he is right. The 30% apple takes is extortion. It is like the fief system, where Apple is the all might lord and we all purchased our devices, but we are still servants to Cook's greed

Right?

Ever since his Twitter buyout and now his accurate comment about the app-store, it’s like people just can’t handle that he’s powerful and intelligent. Really weird.
