If Apple starts using anything linked to Grok, I'll sell my Apple products and switch to the competition. Seriously. And I'm not alone.
That’s power of consumer choice and that’s a good thing in my opinion. I’m sure others will buy Apple products because of Grok integration. I would personally love to have something better than Siri.

A risky bet ... sort of like going all in on the current political moment and then -- shocker -- over half of Tesla owners and/or interested purchasers were MASSIVELY turned off.

Right there with you, but I'd only switch once I was forced into it being part of my OS (forced to upgrade for compatibility, etc).

I want no part of Musk and his toxic views in my OS or day to day computing and internet experience.
I don’t pick my products based on the CEOs, political beliefs. If I did I would never own an Apple product. I buy based on the actual product and if I like it. To each their own of course

Hey Macrumors... not to be that guy, but I noticed you still have the old logo, and 'tweet' instead of 'post' for X.
Hopefully Elon doesn't catch this. Kindly update the site.

/Don't really care... kinda prefer the bird.

That sounds nice in theory, but with Grok and Twitter it's a little different as Musk has been caught literally personally influencing things.

You can't actually detach his personal views from those products and the experiences they offer.

Good, the App Store does seem to be favoriting OpenAI, advertising only ChatGPT and ignoring other popular, country-topping AI apps.

Grok was among the top 5 apps, #1 in many countries — but featured and mentioned nowhere in the App Store, yet OpenAI was everywhere, in 4 or 5 different places.

And Apple and OpenAI have a partnership. So yeah, probably favoritism, likely illegal. Get that money, Elon. Create that change. ✌️

As he/they should. Wouldn’t be the first time Apple has been caught manipulating the market place

I can't keep track of if people want Apple held to account or not.
It seems to vary depending upon who is doing it.

If EU does it = bad
Elon doing it = maybe good?
Trump doing it = possibly good -- depends upon issue
Other US Gov entitity doing it = fist fight on the forums .. could be like EU! or not!
Patent holder doing it = 50/50
Class action lawsuit = always bad ... lawyers win
Epic doing it = hair on fire BIG MAD at Tim Sweeney who is "evil"
Apple sues Apple Cinemas = Great!
Apple Cinemas fires back = Big bad! They are leeching off Apple IP!

lmao

True but I feel this is just another temporary social outrage. These phases don’t last long. Clearly not smart to do it if it’s the current outrage but by next year people will be thinking about something totally different.

Are you the Greg of MacRumors? There’s an account on X who does this all the time. It’s meant to be funny of course.

Trump doing it = Will be a disaster. Will blame it on a President 7 years ago or anyone else.

Interestingly, he only has questions towards Apple’s ranking, while in Google Play ChatGPT also ranks first, according to Sensor Tower.

Maybe people just like ChatGPT more and that’s it? No need to make fringe conspiracy theories about that. But honestly, who am I speaking about… The guy always reposts from a pool of russian shills and fake conspiracy accounts and even reiterates what they claim and then wants someone to think his Grok can be impartial.

AppStore is not ideal but ranking is the last thing I would have doubts about. I honestly dislike all these “op-eds” and “poems” about some useless subscription-based apps and ad-filled garbage farms that are all over the main page, I have nostalgia about old AppStore when there were only rows of apps sorted into categories. Back then I still purchased apps! Now there is barely anything to buy since most cost exorbitant prices (15$ for a game or app was maximum in 2013, now they can reach to 70$ or 150$ per app, but that’s whole another question tbh, something Elon would never give a 💩 about, because he is one of the guys who would sell Twitter ”verified” badges for money🤣

Grok lets you create porn and all sorts of evil stuff. Surprised it allowed on there at all.

There is open and Grok complete freedom... I'd not let my kids use Grok.

I keep x.com and twitter.com network-wide blocked; I don't want to accidentally give them traffic. Kids and wife have never cared, or even noticed. If it makes him feel any better, I've never had a Twitter account.

Edit: Just added grok.com

Well, I do think there is some bias there…

When I worked for a contractor of URBN on the Free People App, they plied the testers with free purchases on Free People during app testing. Magically, the Free People app got featured on the Apple App Store the week it was released. So, take from that what you will…

Featured Apps and user ratings, which is what Musk is whining about, are completely different things.

For these apps that have switched to subscriptions, the average star rating remains extremely stable, even though there are endless 1-star ratings.
Developers decide if they want a lifetime review score or want to reset it after a big new release. What you are seeing as "endless" is just a drop in the bucket. Tens of thousands of reviews versus the most recent 50 or 100? Many apps that went subscription were around for a decade before they changed it up. Those recent reviews might only see a tenth of a percent shift in the score.

You might think something like Steam has a better system, where you have separate All Reviews and Recent Reviews scores. On that platform, people can orchestrate a review bomb on a game intentionally because they disagree with something the developer's did. The lack of a recency score on iOS makes that ineffective. That can be both a positive and a negative.

He's arguing that there is bias in all of those ranking systems. In a fair system, there should be no bias. And, we all know that "Featuring" an app draws more downloads and not featuring an app means death. Urban was very upfront with what it was doing (as if they knew bribing testers would get them "Featured") and they were right.
